Finn ~ 6 weeks

IMG_20130422_163431_007Look at this happy guy! Finn continues to be a pretty “easy” baby. He is really pretty happy most of the time. He sleeps well at night, though I haven’t yet figured out how to get him to sleep for long periods during the day! He continues to get plenty of tummy time and is getting better at keeping his head up for longer periods of time. The dogs also enjoy the play time as you can see!DSC_0702 DSC_0709 DSC_0731 DSC_0720 DSC_0739 DSC_0746 DSC_0747 DSC_0752 IMG_20130424_190025_915

Nursing has been going well so far and we haven’t had to supplement at all, however, the pediatrician recommends giving a vitamin D supplement to babies that are strictly breastfed. So we gave Finn his first vitamin D supplement which is given  through a liquid dropper. He made quite the face, but took it pretty well nonetheless!

Saturday Finn slept from 7:30 pm until 12:15 am, wow!! That was definitely a good stretch, one of those that was so long that it prompted me to check on him several times!  On Sunday I took Finn to the Ladies Tea at church. He slept through almost the entire event and was quite the hit. I sat with my sister, who had Greta, so there were people around adoring both babies!  My mom is coming down to help my sister this coming week, so after the church event we headed to Amy’s for a short visit where Finn showed off his smile to everyone 🙂IMG_20130423_142730_107 IMG_20130422_125113_732 IMG_20130426_110645_505 IMG_20130426_112045_066 IMG952013042695204847

We are loving having some nap times together as evidenced by our many sleepy-time photos this week!IMG_20130427_124106_940 IMG_20130427_223506_918 IMG_20130426_093159_1 IMG_20130425_085303_962

Finn ~ 5 weeks

IMG_20130415_131151_973This week we did another round of hand and foot impressions with new material. It turns out the ones we did a week or so ago turned out just ok. The material had so much air and fluffyness to it that Finn’s hands and feet didn’t stay that deep into the material so it was a bit hard to make out his cute little hands and feet. These one’s are keepers for sure, and it is amazing to see how much bigger his hands and feet are in just over a week!DSC_0639 DSC_0642 DSC_0641DSC_0640 IMG_20130415_114145_246

To celebrate tax day we followed up our run to the Post Office with dinner at Easy Street. Finn is loving to stand up more and more and enjoys using his leg muscles. He loves to be held upright, his favorite position is to be upright against your shoulder, especially if he is fussy or needs to burp. He continues to sleep really well, especially at night, sleeping about 3 ½ hours at a stretch.  He is definitely beginning to smile more and recognize our faces and voices.  He has the cutest facial expressions! He had yet another bath which makes his hair so cute and fuzzy, it reminds me of a baby bird! I think his hair definitely has some lighter highlights.IMG_20130415_131106_111 IMG_20130416_112143_480 IMG_20130416_111934_136 IMG_20130416_081101_754 IMG_20130417_095020_083 IMG_20130417_100140_077 IMG_20130417_153009_658 IMG_20130418_155933_473 IMG_20130419_102348_415 IMG_20130419_104452_147 IMG_20130419_122923_192

Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong came for a visit on Thursday evening. They brought a tasty Godfather’s Pizza, daddy’s favorite, and an awesome strawberry pie for dessert.  On Friday Finn had his 1-month check up.  He checked out great. He weighs 9 lb 7.4 ounces, 22 ¼”long, and 38 cm head. He also had his second round of hepatitis B vaccine.  I hadn’t realized he was going to receive a shot – he made the saddest face and cried for a few minutes but then recovered quite nicely.  Still enough to break your heart when you see the sad, pouty face and tears!IMG_20130419_131021_518 IMG_20130419_125943_224

We enjoyed a lovely visit from my longtime friend Nancy, and then Kim and her daughter Audrey this week. Audrey had written the cutest letter for Finn and one for me, just adorable.IMG_20130418_125744_212 DSC_0689 DSC_0692

And here are a few more from our week!DSC_0643 DSC_0679 DSC_0673 DSC_0688 DSC_0695 IMG_20130414_090617_274 IMG_20130414_203743_491 IMG_20130420_154919_767

Finn ~ 4 weeks

DSC_0635On Saturday we made impressions of Finn’s hands and feet for a keepsake we will hang on the wall of his nursery. We attempted to do it all while he was sleeping, however, he woke up in the middle of it and he was NOT happy! Here they are – they didn’t turn our quite as good as I had hoped as the material was really light and I guess we didn’t press his little hands and feet into them enough so the material would hold the impression very well.  In the end we got some decent impressions we will tell after they dry.DSC_0642

We made our first family shopping trip to the grocery store this week and Sunday was full of activities with church and errands to several stores. Finn is wanting to be held a lot during the day and doesn’t take the longest naps by any means. He seems to do well in his car seat though, so on Monday I headed out for several errands with Finn to the bank, dry cleaner, baby store and the like and he slept the entire time. He usually has a couple of fussy periods during the day or evening and then once night time comes along he sleeps really well.  I joke that he is like his daddy, and once the pumpkin hour of 9:30-10 pm rolls around he is ready for bed, just like clock work. And so far it is proving to be true! Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (89) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (160)IMG_20130411_124149_966 IMG_20130411_123930_539 IMG_20130410_111104_637 IMG_20130411_074248_187 IMG_20130411_205550_091 IMG_20130413_112352_480 IMG_20130412_070410_034

On Tuesday I took Finn for his first adventure to my work, Millcreek. He was awake and alert almost the entire time. Everyone adored him and commented on his hair. It was a beautiful, warm, 75 degree sunny day. It was pretty breezy so the wind blew right threw his hair. Most everyone commented that Finn looks just like his daddy. Unfortunately, I didn’t snap a single photo.

Thursday was a successful day as Finn took a couple of long naps in the cosleeper. He then followed up with his first official blow-out right onto my pants! He is quite a happy baby most of the time. This afternoon he was quite happy and content while he was sitting in my lap up in his room. He was just gazing toward the stained glass windows and the sunlight in his room.IMG_20130410_134941_708

The highlight of this week was the birth of Greta Elyse Bethune! We had been awaiting her arrival, as she too was over-due by 12 days! Everything worked out great – Amy was induced on Friday, which allowed Kevin to work from home and watch Finn so that I was able to be at the hospital during the delivery. Kevin, Finn and I headed to Amy and Andy’s house around 9 am. Kevin took our van downtown for a brief work meeting and I headed to the hospital in my parents car. My parents watched Finn (and Graham and Rowan!) while Kevin was at his meeting. Then he returned to pick Finn up and bring him to the hospital parking lot for me to feed him. It all worked out great as I was able to get lunch for myself and Andy too. Then Kevin dropped me back off at the hospital and headed for some errands with Finn, including taking him along while he got a quick haircut, got the car washed, ran to the bank, and so on. Daddy was really ambitious!  I was getting ready to head back out to the car around 5 pm for another feeding, but rather quickly it became “go” time in the labor and delivery room! Things changed very fast and within about 12 minutes Greta Elyse was born at 5:17 pm, weighing in at 7 lb 10 oz and 20.5”.  Kevin, Finn and myself all headed back to the hospital later that evening – complete with birthday cake for Greta. We joined my parents, Graham, and Rowan in welcoming Greta, the first granddaughter to the family!Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (157) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (164) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (155) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (95)Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (148) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (119) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (126) Greta Elyse Bethune 04 12 13 (105)
