Finn ~ 30 weeks

photo_2Look at this big boy! Griffin can now pull himself up to his feet!

We had another big week this week starting on Sunday with Finn’s first hair cut! Here are a couple of shots we tried to get before and then a couple after.  He’s looking older all the time.DSC_0415 DSC_0422 DSC_0413 DSC_0427 DSC_0432

We also setup his new play pen. He loves having more room to roam. This is in our family room so he can venture to the end of it and watch what is going on in the kitchen. He does pretty well playing on his own for good stretches of time.photo_3

Monday Hailey and Cameron ventured on a trip to the Vet with Kevin. It was a 2 ½ hour experience when everything was said and done and they both have urinary infections. Hailey also has ear infections in both ears – so we are running a bit of a mini clinic!  We are hoping they will begin to feel better soon and they’re headed back for a re-check in another week.2013100795134315

Thanks to cousin Carmen, we are able to make Finn’s baby food using the Baby Bullet she gave us! Here are a few more photos of Finn trying out “real” food, carrots this time, some pureed and some cooked sticks. He makes the funniest faces and keeps trying it repeatedly, eventhough he looks as if they taste awful!DSC_0359 DSC_0369 DSC_0364 DSC_0382 DSC_0386

On Thursday I got home and Tricia told me Finn pulled himself up a few times during the day – both in his new playpen, and also using the wood toy that he often plays with on the floor in his room! That’s big news! She even captured a cute video where you can here Finn laugh with excitement after he pulls himself up – so sweet! And sure enough later that night he did it several more times, including when I put him down asleep for what I hoped would be a short nap. After I put him down I heard him move, so I felt around and felt his head at the top of the crib – I turned on the lights and found him like this on his knees at the front of the crib!IMG_20131010_204321_553

Here Tricia captured Finn pulling himself up one of the first few times:

Friday afternoon Grandpa Armstrong stopped over for a short visit and repaired our light fixture in the loft that had stopped working. Here he is enjoying some time with Finn while he’s having his dinner.20131011_174344

We hosted small group on Friday evening which we really enjoy. We want Finn to interact with kids whenever possible since he is cared for in our home during the weekdays while we are at work. It’s funny to watch his facial expressions. And here he is pretty much climbing on Sam, poor girl! Finn had a great time, Sam not so much by the end!DSC_0444 DSC_0442

Saturday was Fall Fest at church that included a Chili cook off, desserts, music, and a bonfire. Kevin made quite a tasty chili for everyone to enjoy. There were over 22 different batches you could sample. My mom came to town for the weekend since my dad was traveling so she was able to make it to fall Fest with the Bethune’s. Here she is getting some play time with Finn. IMG_20131012_184723_228

It was a beautiful week of fall weather. Tricia and Finn spend some good time playing out doors and going on walks. Here they are enjoying the nice, but cool day, along with a few other shots from the week. Finn loves bath time and we began sitting him up during baths and giving him some toys. He thought it was pretty fun!photo_1 photo DSC_0454 DSC_0466 DSC_0470

He enjoys holding his own bottle these days and getting in some snuggle time with daddy. DSC_0473

Finn ~ 29 weeks

DSC_0179Griffin continues to sleep really well at night – anywhere from 8-10 hours. We’ve been starting the night time routine of eating followed by bath time a bit earlier. He is typically in bed between 9:30 and 10 pm. For awhile now each night he migrates toward one end of his crib and most nights the “alarm” that is connected to a sensor under his mattress would go off. He had moved far enough that the sensor couldn’t sense his movement or breathing. I mentioned this to my sister the other day and she told me they had moved theirs to the area that Greta moves toward and I was like “duh!” why don’t we do that?!  And it’s been great ever since! When he is awake he likes to be out and about moving around. He can get anywhere he wants, but isn’t yet full fledged “crawling” with his belly up off the floor just yet.  However, he is always trying to pull himself up – like this!IMG_20131001_182518_529

Kevin’s “go live” date of October 1 came and went rather uneventfully! The weeks preceding he had spent some really LONG days (which more literally were days and nights) working to get things ready for the deadline. All in all the project is going quite well and we are all thankful for that. He has had a much less busy week this past week which has been great. He’s had a bit of time to rest and recover from the long days and we enjoy seeing him in the evenings! Since we’ve all been together for dinner we decided to give Griffin “real” food for the first time on Monday night – avacado!  It’s a bit of a soft food, and just a wee bit messy, but that’s part of the fun, right?! He played with it a lot, smashed it and smeared it on the tray, put it to his mouth and licked it several times, and of course made some good funny faces.  All in all hardly ate any – but had some fun in the process.DSC_0045 DSC_0046 DSC_0051 DSC_0060 DSC_0064 DSC_0066 DSC_0074 DSC_0075 DSC_0079 DSC_0081 DSC_0082 DSC_0087 DSC_0090 DSC_0093 DSC_0097 DSC_0105

The President’s Cup festivities were happening this week in Dublin. Wednesday evening we headed over to Fore Fest in Old Dublin where they closed the streets and had a festival. It included 5 stages of live bands/music, food trucks, beer tents, and my personal favorite – a cupcake vendor that I learned about on Facebook, Little Star Cupcakes.  They are delish! I had the pumpkin one, of course!IMG_20131003_191422_479 IMG_20131003_191523_556

Griffin is talking and babbling alot more in the last week.  Especially first thing in the morning or when he wakes from naps.  Usually it is pretty quiet chatter but he can get loud when we feels like it!

Friday night was date night so we dropped Finn off at Chez Bethune and we headed to see Gravity in 3D at the Easton Dine-In Theaters.IMG_20131004_204402_840Saturday we had a fun family day. We started by going to pick apples and check out the market at Lynd’s Fruit farm. We picked Red and Golden Delicious apples.  They are pretty tasty and were super plentiful so the actual picking only took about 5 minutes! We dodged rain drops in the car both before and after we picked. Then we spent some time at the market where they offer a huge selection of local produce, amish baked goods and cheeses, gourds, pumpkins, and pretty much anything you would think you might find at a farmer’s market.DSC_0112 DSC_0117 DSC_0120 DSC_0121 DSC_0122 DSC_0123 DSC_0131 DSC_0132 DSC_0156 DSC_0161 DSC_0166 DSC_0169 DSC_0175 DSC_0184 DSC_0189 DSC_0192

While we were in the car feeding Finn we thought, hey, why not make a day of it and go to Young’s Jersey Dairy Farm in Yellow Springs to pick pumpkins and have some ice cream?! So we hit the road and called Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong, and Uncle Brett and Aunt Missy to let them know we were headed their direction. Everyone was able to meet us at Young’s where we spent a couple of hours taking in the farm happenings.  All in all a really fun day!DSC_0293DSC_0222 DSC_0229 DSC_0233 DSC_0237 DSC_0241 DSC_0255 DSC_0261 DSC_0268 DSC_0272 DSC_0275

Grandpa Armstrong drove an Oliver 88 growing up on the Armstrong farm just a few miles (farms) from the Young’s farm.
