Well, this was a big week as Finn wrapped up his first year of pre-school as a Guppy! He really enjoyed school this year. He like going to the “muscle room” to play, the art work, being around the other kids. Yikes, 8 months are gone in a flash. His last day was on a Wednesday, and fortunately, I was able to take the day off work. I took Finn to school, picked him up, and we headed downtown big city to have lunch with Daddy at our place Si Senor. We also walked around the city a bit and walked Daddy back to his work building. We explored around inside a bit too, there is a really nice atrium that connects the buildings, and Finn had an ice cream treat.
Earlier in the week Debbie was off for a couple of days, so my sister was kind enough to watch Griffin on Monday. She picked him up from pre-school, along with the other kiddos and they had a fun afternoon playing in bear-suits and being silly. My mom came down later that night and we had dinner and then headed to Graeter’s for dessert, of course! Then on Tuesday mom stayed home and played with Finn for the day. Super thankful our families are always helping us when we need it!
Tuesday was also Finn’s last soccer lesson for this session. He really loved running around and learning a bit about soccer. They also work on motor skills, listening, and various athletic skills too. Some of these photos are fuzzy, but they show him having fun nonetheless. And at the last lesson Kevin went out and played a game of “sharks and minnows” at the end of the class. It was a beautiful night so we celebrated with dinner on the patio at Liberty Tavern, where Finn likes to get his picture taken next to the Statue of Liberty.
We’ve been playing outside a fair bit lately since the weather has been so nice. Finn was hitting balls off the tee and after a bit we decided to pitch to him. He has a really solid swing (and an accurate throw for his age too!) and made contact several times with the ball. I took a video and he missed the ball the first video I shot, so I figured I would take another. And here is what happened:
Kevin was fine, Finn was pretty concerned and stood there like a statue for a minute until we told him it was OK and that Daddy was fine. For the next several night during prayers Finn would pray “thank you for Daddy not getting hurt and next time maybe he covers his face or gets out of the way”. We’ve considered submitting to America’s Funniest Home Videos…… 🙂

Family skate at Graham’s 6th birthday party at the Dublin Chiller! This was Finn’s first time on skates (and the first time in a long time for me and Kevin). It was lots of fun! We skated for maybe 40 minutes before enjoying pizza and cake. I’ve included the series of group photos at the end of the party – Finn likes to put on a show once he’s warmed up to the crowd. Can you tell?
Ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream. Or in this case, custard. There’s no such thing as too much, is there?

This boy and his affection for pretzels. Anytime we are at a baseball game, the zoo, zoombeezi, a festival – he can spot the pretzel vendor within a flash. And the instant he gets one in his hands this is his expression. It’s the little things.
Work continues to be busy for me, but with Mother’s Day now past us it will begin to slow down. Friday night I was home early enough that we were able to spend some time out in the driveway during daylight (albeit at around 8 pm!) for the scooter riding (Joe), chalk-drawing, Lily-cuddling time. Kevin sketched quite the scene of Finn walking Lily through the woods. Lily likes to be around us pretty much all of the time. She’s pretty good about sticking near us, but if she sees another dog she still tends to race to greet them :|.
Mom and Dad also came down during the week this week to pickup some soil at Millcreek. They brought me a super yummy salad for lunch! We loaded up 7 or 8 trash cans full of soil and then used the bobcat to load the ends of the bag into the back of the truck. Felt good to use my muscles again and get out of my office chair 🙂I have a ton of photos like this on my phone. Griffin just loves laying next to Lils (pronounced “yils”). Lily, not always so much, but she puts up with it. She often turns her head and faces the wall underneath the white bed in Finn’s room. But on this night they were making faces at each other.
The zoo was a fun spot this week as well as making some artwork at home. check out Finn’s x-ray of his arm and his community helpers artwork. I love that Debbie writes down what Finn thinks each of the helpers do – pretty cute.
On Saturday, I was actually able to get out of work after only a half day! So Finn and I met up with the Bethune’s for some afternoon fun at COSI, followed by my first trip to Fox in the Snow Cafe. Although we arrived pretty close to closing, it was delish!
And on Sunday, we had family in town as Brett, Missy, Sebastian and Alexis visited us on a very cool spring day. We adventured downtown to the Clippers Baseball Game. It was a family fun day – so at the end of the game the kids and families get to run the bases. The last time Finn did it he was about 4 or 5 months old and Kevin ran with him, swooping him down to touch each base. Alexis and Sebastian ran with him, and Kevin followed behind filming a video. Brett sent me the video below – which includes Kevin filming the video :). It was a fun afternoon followed by a cookout at our house afterwards.
