DSC_1123Finn is taking more and more consecutive steps with every day. He is pretty much “almost” walking! Sometimes I look at him and then turn my back and start to do something and when I turn back around to look for him he’s in a totally different place! He can move pretty quietly when he walks so I find him in surprising places!

We started off this week by going to the pediatrician on St. Patrick’s Day for Finn’s 12 month checkup. He was a happy boy that morning, we put on his green shirt and gave him the lucky bear. He is really loving cuddling with soft animals and blankets lately. He checked in at 19 lb 11 oz (24th percentile), 28.75″ (12th percentile), and his head circumference was 46.5 cm (63rd percentile). He was still on antibiotics for his ear infection (through Thursday 3/20). His weight was down 4 ounces from a week ago (at his ear infection appointment), and it was down 4 ounces at that appointment from the previous couple of weeks. So I’m a bit nervous about that, but I asked the doctor and he said since he’s been sick with the ear infection he isn’t concerned right now. He said we’d let him get over the ear infection, and would want to maintain or increase his weight once he’s kicked that. He definitely hasn’t had his full appetite for bottles or finger foods. He’s also getting in his 7th tooth so that could be some of his lesser appetite too. His mood has definitely gotten better since he’s gone on the antibiotics for his ear infection. Poor little guy got a finger prick to check his hemoglobin (which was great), two shots in the arm (measels and chickenpox) and one shot in his leg (Prevnar).  He was worn out for the afternoon and the next day – he got in some extra sleep!

DSC_0979Thursday we went over to Aunt Amy and Uncle Andy’s to celebrate with dessert for Amy’s big 40th birthday! On the ride over Finn and I had some fun in the back seat playing high-five. He loves to give high-five’s when you ask him to 🙂  The kiddos had fun playing and we all enjoyed a nice strawberry cake made by Andy and the boys. DSC_0988 DSC_0994 DSC_0995 DSC_0998 DSC_1000 DSC_1008 DSC_1012 DSC_1016 DSC_1028 DSC_1038 DSC_1045 DSC_1049 DSC_1063 DSC_1068 DSC_1070

This week at Millcreek we nearly completed our office renovations, which include a new office for me! I feel rather spoiled, as my new digs are quite spacious and very nice. The server rack will be moved out, but for now it is in my office. Here is before I moved in and after! I still am working on getting everything in its new place and laying everything out, but it’s a start!IMG_20140318_141943919_HDR IMG_20140318_195837301

Friday after work we headed to Mansfield. My parents were gracious to watch Finn for his first official overnight without momma or daddy! Kevin gave me tickets to a David Nail concert in Medina, OH. So we took Finn, Cammie, and Lily to mom and dad’s and had a nice dinner with them. Then we left Finn to play with Grandma and Grandpa while we headed to the concert. We had a fun time and at the end I got an autographed t-shirt and cd (which I really haven’t ever done, but I figured, hey, why not? It was a small venue and was a short wait!). We arrived back at mom and dad’s Saturday morning, just after Finn got up. Our little man slept so well they woke him up around 9:15 (he’s usually up by 8) so dad could see him for a bit before he went to a church work day (and he hadn’t made a peep so they were getting nervous, I think! I do the same thing when he gets up much later than normal!).IMG_20140321_221318075 IMG_20140321_222408986 IMG_20140321_224204524 IMG_20140322_242534310MG950321-2DSC_1078 DSC_1104 DSC_1116 DSC_1119

Saturday we headed back to Columbus and had a family dinner with Mom, Dad, Amy, Andy, Graham, Rowan, Greta, Kevin, Finn and myself to celebrate Amy’s and my birthdays. We went to a Japanese Steakhouse, which turned out to be tons of fun for the kids as they could watch our chef’s skills with his utensils and tricks! Mom crafted another lovely birthday cake that we enjoyed afterwards back at our house.  Then everyone went home and it was lights out – it was a busy week and weekend and we were beat!DSC_1128 DSC_1135 DSC_1170 DSC_1172 DSC_1176 DSC_1184 DSC_1187 DSC_1199 DSC_1201 DSC_1202 DSC_1220 DSC_1227Kevin and I are enjoying our shakes and making some headway on our weight loss. My parents brought us back these lovely Tervis coolers from their trip to Florida. Now each day I take two shakes to work in these nice travel coolers. Can you guess which is mine and which is Kevin’s?IMG_20140316_101400991Finn and Sam continue to have fun together and this week they’ve enjoyed playing with so many new toys. Here they are playing with Finn’s new Mega Block wagon – pretty cute, eh? Sam’s a strong boy!photo-3 photo-2

Finn ~ 52 weeks

IMG_20140313_135103-003Look at this big boys haircut! That was the highlight of our week, Finn’s first official haircut! We met over lunch on Thursday at Cookie Cutters – a place for kids haircuts. We had to wake him from a nap to go, so he was quite still and very calm throughout the whole process. Not to mention he got to sit in a blue airplane and watch Sesame Street! First is his “before” haircut and then his new look – doesn’t he look handsome? And so much more like a toddler. Kevin and I both have mixed feelings about the haircut – we love it but our baby is growing up way too fast!DSC_0415 DSC_0416 DSC_0421 DSC_0424 DSC_0426 DSC_0429 DSC_0433 DSC_0434 DSC_0448 DSC_0453 DSC_0463 DSC_0466 DSC_0474 DSC_0487 DSC_0497 DSC_0503 DSC_0510 DSC_0516 DSC_0521 IMG_20140313_133207131_HDR-2 IMG_20140313_133326209-2

On Tuesday we took Finn to the doctor again as he was tugging some on his right ear (still) and didn’t seem to have his regular appetite. He wasn’t really interested in food or his bottles, which is pretty unusual. He is also working on getting in tooth number 7, so we weren’t sure if that was a part of his crankiness or if it was possibly that his ear infection hadn’t completely cleared up. Sure enough, he has an infection still in his right ear. So, we are on the third round of yet another different antibiotic. If this doesn’t clear it up we will likely be referred to an ENT, so I am hoping this does the trick! He is much better now – he was the fussiest he ever been!

With every day, it is becoming more clear than Finn understands so much of what we say to him. He often responds with actions or “words”. It is amazing to see. He is like a little sponge, and he is VERY good at mimicking sounds, like when we cough. He pretty much has that one down pat!

Friday evening was the annual Millcreek Spring Fling, our kick-off event for the spring season. It was in Powell, at Liberty Tavern, and was a fun night for everyone. Lots of fun conversation and it’s nice to interact with everyone outside the workplace! We brought Finn along, a little party crasher, and he had quite a good time being passed around by everyone – and peering out the window. DSC_0535 DSC_0534 DSC_0533 DSC_0538 DSC_0536 DSC_0523

Our week was pretty busy with all kinds of activities leading up to Finn’s first birthday party. We had a lovely gathering at our house with family and lots of friends. Finn woke up at 3:30 pm, just before the 4 pm party time. He was awake throughout the entire party and didn’t hit the hay until 9 pm! He was happy up until the end and even then he was going strong, just a bit bleary. He loved eating lots of berries and a cookie. It took him a minute to finally tear into his birthday cake, but once he did he enjoyed himself. I think having a large crowd staring at him made him a bit unsure. He was showered with so many lovely gifts – we are all to excited to explore so many toys, books, and games! Here are tons of photos, and some are from Amy too!DSC_0543 DSC_0541 DSC_0544 DSC_0549 DSC_0552 DSC_0555 DSC_0563 DSC_0564 DSC_0582 DSC_0600 DSC_0613 DSC_0615 DSC_0620 DSC_0623 DSC_0626 DSC_0630 DSC_0631 DSC_0635 DSC_0639DSC_0755 DSC_0757 DSC_0762 DSC_0782 DSC_0645 DSC_0651 DSC_0654 DSC_0663 DSC_0666IMG_0072-2 IMG_0075-2 IMG_0076-2 IMG_0080-2 IMG_0082-2 IMG_0045-2 IMG_0047-2 IMG_0049-2 IMG_0051-2 IMG_0058-2 IMG_0060-2 IMG_0069-2 DSC_0605 DSC_0675 DSC_0677 IMG_0098-2 IMG_0127-2 IMG_0129-2 DSC_0696 DSC_0712 DSC_0715 DSC_0723 DSC_0725 DSC_0731 IMG_0131-2 IMG_0108-2 IMG_0110-2 IMG_0134-2 IMG_0145-2 IMG_0137-2 IMG_0140-2 IMG_0118-2 IMG_0141-2 IMG_0120-2 IMG_0144-2 DSC_0741 DSC_0749DSC_0800 IMG_0149-2 IMG_0150-2 DSC_0800DSC_0765 DSC_0767 DSC_0768 IMG_0173-2 IMG_0174-2 IMG_0155-2 IMG_0177-2 IMG_0157-2 IMG_0159-2 IMG_0163-2 IMG_0165-2 IMG_0169-2IMG_0178-2 IMG_0185-2 IMG_0190-2 IMG_0196-2 IMG_0201-2 IMG_0202-2 IMG_0207-2DSC_0795 DSC_0802 DSC_0805 DSC_0807

Finn ~ 45 weeks

DSC_0841Look at him, barely hanging on! That’s what he does most of the time he’s on his feet! Actually, Finn took his first real steps this week! On Sunday we went to IKEA after church to purchase some toys, toy containers, and such.

Finn slept a good portion of our drive down, which was great, because he was awake for our 3 1/2 hour venture inside!DSC_0337 DSC_0334

We found so many cute kids toys and we purchased several things not on our list. I mean, come on, doesn’t that happen to everyone at IKEA? We were all in the basement on Monday night setting up some new toys and playing together. Finn pulled himself up on to his new inflatable dragon and just stood. Kevin pulled the dragon away from him and he took a step to get back to the dragon. He fell after one step. So Kevin stood him back up and he did it again, taking a step toward me! The second time he fell on his second step.  Growing up way too fast! And he moves really quick when he is cruising around the coffee table, ottoman, or couch. Good thing we have our safety gates up 🙂 The tent is by far the most popular new toy. Finn constant goes in, then out, and repeats a million times. And Lily is pretty fond of it as well. She’s been in there on more than one occasion! Our camera was doing some really weird yellow coloration in the basement – I have no idea why or how to fix it, so just ignore the weird yellow!DSC_0409 DSC_0410 DSC_0365 DSC_0367 DSC_0389 DSC_0343 DSC_0340 DSC_0381 DSC_0371 DSC_0400 DSC_0405 DSC_0424 DSC_0428 DSC_0431 DSC_0412 DSC_0416 DSC_0419DSC_0456

Finn has adapted really well to his new nanny, Debbie, and her son, Sam. They have a lot of fun playing together and mimic each other quite often. It’s pretty darn cute. They’ve even been coordinating their nap times – both short or both long, but usually at the same time. Not sure how that happens, but Debbie has it all down pat!DSC_0636 DSC_0641 DSC_0653 DSC_0648 DSC_0650

I took my camera to work this week to shoot a few stock images so I can continue to build the image library for Millcreek. It was a pretty and snowy day so I took some of the display garden and greenhouses too. Hard to think with these frigid temps that spring is not that far away. Here is a taste of what is now and what is to come!DSC_0472 DSC_0504 DSC_0509 DSC_0570 DSC_0478 DSC_0615 DSC_0599 DSC_0589

We went to the OSU men’s basketball game on Thursday night. My parents gave Kevin the tickets for his birthday. Turns out our friends the Manning’s had tickets to the same game, versus Illinois, so we met up for dinner prior. It was a freezing cold night, and we had a most memorable drive to the gas station after the game on “0 miles” remaining in the tank thanks to yours truly, Megan. But, those who were confident we would make it were right, we did, and we filled up with 19.0 gallons (in what is I’m pretty sure an 18 gallon tank – oopsie!).

Our C-group hasn’t met in quite awhile with all of the holiday bustle. But with that behind us, we hosted our gathering on Friday. We had a lovely swedish meatball dinner, complete with cream sauce and ligonberry preserves compliments of our recent trip to IKEA.  Ha, it was delish! Finn just loves playing with other kids and now that he’s been around more kids more frequently he’s more interactive and a bit less observant! He used to just watch everyone and take it all in!DSC_0695 DSC_0680 DSC_0677DSC_0659Saturday we enjoyed quite a lazy day. It was super windy and snowy so we stayed warm inside and enjoyed the scenic view through the windows in our pj’s! Oh, and Finn roamed around some in his “Super Finn” cape. He tried to put his skills to work to get the gate open, but he didn’t succeed. We’ll give him some more time! DSC_0699 DSC_0700IMG_20140125_115338436_HDR DSC_0707 DSC_0715 DSC_0717 DSC_0739 DSC_0751 DSC_0753 DSC_0756 DSC_0757 DSC_0760 DSC_0777 DSC_0779 DSC_0781 DSC_0789 DSC_0795 DSC_0808 DSC_0816 DSC_0832 DSC_0837 DSC_0839 DSC_0841 DSC_0843 DSC_0859 DSC_0866 DSC_0870 DSC_0871 DSC_0872 DSC_0874 DSC_0885 DSC_0897 DSC_0917 DSC_0919 DSC_0922 DSC_0925 DSC_0933 DSC_0939 DSC_0951 DSC_0956 DSC_0958 DSC_0964IMG_20140125_121719489 IMG_20140125_121955866

Finn continues to be an awesome eater, especially with solid foods. He often isn’t interested in his bottle, certainly not if there is activity going on around him! He’s down to about 3 bottles a day, sometimes almost 4. He definitely prefers to feed himself or have some solid food on a spoon like hummus, yogurt, and the food pouches.
