IMG_5537Monster Sundaes.  Anyone who has spent any bit of time with Griffin is well aware that he loves ice cream.  Monster Sundaes, in particular. As I’ve mentioned before, each night when I put Finn to bed one of the last things he says is, “Mom, when I wake up we go to the ice cream place”.  He follows that with a little giggle and an I Love You.  It’s so sweet (and silly and cute) and I love it.  It makes me smile every night.

On this particular day, Grandma Armstrong was here to watch Finn during the morning and I left work for the day at lunch to take Griffin to his 3-year check up.  Can you believe that?  Three years?  Where does the time go?  I know everyone says it, but time is really passing pretty fast and I just want more time to soak it all in. I miss being home and spending time with Griffin and Kevin while I’m at work, though it certainly makes me pause and enjoy the time that I am home even more, or the fun activities and adventures that we have together all the more fun. He had an excellent checkup! I had thought he was due for a shot, so we had been talking about visiting the doctor and getting shots and how he was going to be very brave. Well, turns out no shots at this appointment! For the record, Finn checked in at 31 pounds, 3.2 ounces (44th percentile), 37.75″ tall (57th percentile) and BMI of 15.4 (29th percentile). His language skills and physical abilities are all on track or ahead. Dr. Wilde (who we love) gave him a two thumbs up! We celebrated afterward for the fun of it at Grater’s, with a MONSTER SUNDAE. IMG_5536 IMG_5535Later that afternoon after we played in the front yard with Lily (and tried on Finn’s new rain boots – he was e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y happy to have his own pair now and be able to jump in rain puddles) we drove Grandma Armstrong back home to their new house. Griffin liked exploring the outdoors full of leaves, sticks, fallen trees, and such. We did a walk around the house to scout out all of the plants in their new yard too! They are really making headway on their renovations inside. Their master bath is really quite something.  It’s a very unique shape and will have many water heads! The tile is in and looks great!IMG_5545 IMG_5541 IMG_5546 IMG_5547 IMG_5549 IMG_5550 IMG_5558 IMG_5553 IMG_5554 IMG_5556It was an otherwise calm and slow week around here. I’m thankful that Finn still loves to cuddle. Our morning routine is for him to get a drink and snack and come to our room to watch a show. He loves to sit in my spot and get under the covers ♥. IMG_5571 IMG_5573And here is a sampling of Finn’s artwork from the week, both at pre-school and at home. He loves to paint!IMG_5560 IMG_5566 IMG_5565

Well, it’s been a lot like winter around here despite the calendar saying it is March!  We woke up to a picturesque winter scene on March 4th. The snow blanketed all of the grass and trees. It was a very pretty and calm morning. I headed outside to snap a few photos before I headed off to work for the day. Lily was pretty excited to have a play mate to run around with, if even for a few minutes!IMG_4567 IMG_4569 IMG_4555 IMG_4560 IMG_4564 IMG_4566 IMG_4570IMG_4571 DSC_0173-2 DSC_0175-2

The colder temperatures have meant lots of indoor activities for Griffin, including painting Easter Eggs and making Cross necklaces.  IMG_4536 IMG_4537 IMG_4547 IMG_4548And of course, since Easter is nearing that means all of the stores have the Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, the favorite of all Reese’s products as it has the “perfect peanut butter to chocolate ratio” says Kevin. The instant Finn sees the yellow package, his face lights up and he asks “what’s in that there” followed by a “can I have one?”. IMG_4579 IMG_4581 IMG_4584 IMG_4585

Griffin enjoyed several other fun arts projects this week, including making a Leprechaun. And also lots of practice being Super Heroes around the house. Even Lily likes to play along.IMG_4533 IMG_4534IMG_4538And I learned this week via the American Hosta Growers Association Newsletter, that Dad’s Hosta ‘World Cup’ will be the 2018 Hosta of the Year! That’s a big deal, and I’m super proud that one of my Dad’s many awesome plants is bringing home this distinction! IMG_4574And here is a fun one I snapped of the two boys being twinsies.  It’s funny sometimes to see how Finn has certain mannerisms of Kevin and me. Not the things we’ve taught him, just things he seems to do pretty naturally or instinctively – like sleep (and relax) how Kevin does!IMG_4575

And here Finn is driving his car to both of his grandparents houses.  It’s kind of hard to make out his words, but it’s pretty cute and all of it was his idea!

IMG_4503Finn has been giving Lily lots of snuggles and cuddles lately.  He loves her so, and actually every night part of the routine is to give Lily a hug and a kiss.  Lately he’s been asking her to wag her tail before he’ll give her a hug and a kiss.  And he asks Kevin and I to raise our hands, “Who wants a hug and kiss?”.  Silly boy.IMG_4498 IMG_4494One evening this week Finn wanted to snuggle and while he was sitting in my lap he said “put me in your shirt”. It was rather funny, actually, but sure enough he ended up inside my black t-shirt and we walked around a bit. It totally reminded me of when I had him in the hospital, nearly 3 years ago, and I snuggled him inside my black shirt as a tiny newborn. This sweet boy is growing up far too quickly! IMG_4509-2 IMG_4514Daddy is spoiling us with all of these pancakes lately.  Check out his latest creation! I did add the finishing touches of the face!IMG_4505 IMG_4506Kevin’s car was in need of some TLC in the form of many repairs, most of which we had a shop perform. His Dad was kind enough to come up on a Sunday afternoon to work with Kevin to put new front brakes and struts on his Jeep.  It went well for the most part, other than a broken bolt on the right side, so they weren’t able to install the right strut just yet.  But the brakes are in on the front.  Shew, that was a lot work! Papa brought a lot of his tools and when I took him out to the garage to show him what they were doing he said “what’s that mess?”.  Silly boy. IMG_4520 IMG_4522 IMG_4521I’ve been enjoying Avacados for quite awhile it seems. My quick go-to is Avacado Toast. Sometimes I fancy it up with salt and pepper.  My sweet hubby packed me some bread slices in my lunch bag one day and when I got them out to toast them at work he’d left me a sweet note! <3.  My other new thing is peanut butter toast with banana coins. One evening I’d made myself two slices for dinner, and before I knew it, Finn asked for a piece – and he ate the entire thing! IMG_4492 IMG_4523Finn has been enjoying lots of art projects, adventures, and outdoor time when the weather is nice lately. We sure are blessed that he is in such loving hands with Debbie!IMG_4504IMG_4491 IMG_4490 IMG_4488 IMG_4487 IMG_4486 IMG_4485 IMG_4484And this particular photo Debbie put in our app that we use to communicate. Griffin was holding the dogs blue ball and Debbie took a photo of Finn riding on his airplane in his room. She put a little caption that read “The sweetest game, Finn says ‘I’m flying to heaven to bring Cammie her ball to play with'”.  He has the most loving heart. IMG_4489
