On Saturday we made impressions of Finn’s hands and feet for a keepsake we will hang on the wall of his nursery. We attempted to do it all while he was sleeping, however, he woke up in the middle of it and he was NOT happy! Here they are – they didn’t turn our quite as good as I had hoped as the material was really light and I guess we didn’t press his little hands and feet into them enough so the material would hold the impression very well. In the end we got some decent impressions we will tell after they dry.
We made our first family shopping trip to the grocery store this week and Sunday was full of activities with church and errands to several stores. Finn is wanting to be held a lot during the day and doesn’t take the longest naps by any means. He seems to do well in his car seat though, so on Monday I headed out for several errands with Finn to the bank, dry cleaner, baby store and the like and he slept the entire time. He usually has a couple of fussy periods during the day or evening and then once night time comes along he sleeps really well. I joke that he is like his daddy, and once the pumpkin hour of 9:30-10 pm rolls around he is ready for bed, just like clock work. And so far it is proving to be true!
On Tuesday I took Finn for his first adventure to my work, Millcreek. He was awake and alert almost the entire time. Everyone adored him and commented on his hair. It was a beautiful, warm, 75 degree sunny day. It was pretty breezy so the wind blew right threw his hair. Most everyone commented that Finn looks just like his daddy. Unfortunately, I didn’t snap a single photo.
Thursday was a successful day as Finn took a couple of long naps in the cosleeper. He then followed up with his first official blow-out right onto my pants! He is quite a happy baby most of the time. This afternoon he was quite happy and content while he was sitting in my lap up in his room. He was just gazing toward the stained glass windows and the sunlight in his room.
The highlight of this week was the birth of Greta Elyse Bethune! We had been awaiting her arrival, as she too was over-due by 12 days! Everything worked out great – Amy was induced on Friday, which allowed Kevin to work from home and watch Finn so that I was able to be at the hospital during the delivery. Kevin, Finn and I headed to Amy and Andy’s house around 9 am. Kevin took our van downtown for a brief work meeting and I headed to the hospital in my parents car. My parents watched Finn (and Graham and Rowan!) while Kevin was at his meeting. Then he returned to pick Finn up and bring him to the hospital parking lot for me to feed him. It all worked out great as I was able to get lunch for myself and Andy too. Then Kevin dropped me back off at the hospital and headed for some errands with Finn, including taking him along while he got a quick haircut, got the car washed, ran to the bank, and so on. Daddy was really ambitious! I was getting ready to head back out to the car around 5 pm for another feeding, but rather quickly it became “go” time in the labor and delivery room! Things changed very fast and within about 12 minutes Greta Elyse was born at 5:17 pm, weighing in at 7 lb 10 oz and 20.5”. Kevin, Finn and myself all headed back to the hospital later that evening – complete with birthday cake for Greta. We joined my parents, Graham, and Rowan in welcoming Greta, the first granddaughter to the family!
