DSC_0086Check out Finn, liking the outdoor exploration at Grandma and Grandpa’s! We headed to Mansfield on Mother’s Day for a nice afternoon of walking around the yard and hanging out together. All of the kids had fun running about and going back and forth over the bridge. It was a nice, sunny afternoon which was a welcome change!DSC_0070 DSC_0077 DSC_0080 DSC_0084 DSC_0087 DSC_0088 DSC_0090 DSC_0092 DSC_0101 DSC_0104 DSC_0106 DSC_0110 DSC_0115The week was a blur for me, up until Saturday, when we headed over to Amy and Andy’s to celebrate Graham’s 4th birthday.  Where does the time go? I remember heading to Michigan the day Amy texted to say she was in the beginning stages of labor, now Graham is an energetic and lovable 4 year old! Amy put together quite a lovely ocean-themed party complete with cute foods including a homemade fish cake. And there were plenty of photo opportunities in the cute red boat!DSC_0136 DSC_0138 DSC_0139 DSC_0141 DSC_0147 DSC_0149 DSC_0153 DSC_0154 DSC_0158 DSC_0166 DSC_0170 DSC_0174 DSC_0179 DSC_0181 DSC_0195 DSC_0206 DSC_0210 DSC_0214 DSC_0218 DSC_0223 DSC_0242 DSC_0240 DSC_0243 DSC_0247 DSC_0251 DSC_0252 DSC_0256 DSC_0262 DSC_0263

Here are some of Amy’s photos of Finn too 🙂IMG_5084-2 IMG_5091-2 IMG_5093-2IMG_5105-2On the project updates: Kevin is continuing to work on taking down the walls in the kitchen and determining what needs to be moved from within the existing walls and where it can go! We’ve also been tossing around ideas for cabinet colors and the layout of where everything will go – any and all feed back is welcome 🙂 And as if we didn’t have enough projects going, this year we wanted to have some veggie gardens and this weekend Kevin began building them! We may be getting in over our heads, but I’m excited to have a veggie garden. I remember when mom and dad had a big veggie garden in the side yard growing up, and I love that Finn loves to touch plants and smell flowers. I take him in to the seedlings in the dining room a few times a week to check on how the plants are growing. I’m really excited to have a garden where he can watch fruits and vegetables grow! I also planted up some new planters for the patio. It’s beginning to look like spring around here! Now, if I can be home during some of the daylight hours to enjoy it. Not to worry, I’m hoping that beginning this week things are on the downswing at work!DSC_0279 DSC_0283 DSC_0281

DSC_0040It’s all about flowers, fun, and projects here these days – for Kevin and Finn that is. This week Finn had lots of fun getting out of the house and enjoying a couple of trips with Debbie and Sam. They headed to the park a couple of times and then made their first trip to the zoo. Finn is really in to touching plants and smelling the flowers 🙂 And Debbie treated them to Rita’s frozen custard at the end of the warm afternoon. These boys are spoiled!photo (9)-2 photo (7)-2 photo (6)-2 photo (5)-2 photo (3)-2 photo (4)-2 똺? photo (8)-2On the home front Kevin has begun the first part of our kitchen project, which includes adding a walk in pantry and a storage closet. He is building these in the large “useless” room in the front of the house, which is eventually going to become our dining room. Many thanks to Brett for coming up and helping with everything. Here are some initial pictures, it will be a work in progress, and we are excited to get things started. Though I guess this means we will be living in a messy space for awhile as it will get worse before it gets better, but it will all be better in the end, no? They’ve also torn apart the basement ceiling as a part of moving some plumbing and other parts in the kitchen area overhead.  Never a dull moment around here!DSC_0013 DSC_0011 DSC_0060 DSC_0041 DSC_0045

Finn has really taken to the bright orange level. He pretty much takes it everywhere and doesn’t like it when you take it away. He is really in to letting you know his displeasure these days, something I’m not all that fond of, but am learning to deal with. I was home early enough on Friday that it was still slightly light outside. Finn and I enjoyed a walk along the front garden where he really enjoyed pulling the irrigation marking flags out and carrying them around more than anything else!DSC_0021 DSC_0039 DSC_0038 DSC_0057 DSC_0022 DSC_0029

Mother’s Day I was greeted by Kevin and Finn with a nice hot cup of coffee. We headed downstairs for a pancake breakfast, which Finn enjoyed watching daddy make, and a lovely orchid and card with Finn’s handprint. So cute!  And Debbie had a mug painting project with Finn this week too, and it was a total surprise to me – it was adorable!DSC_0053 DSC_0050 DSC_0065 DSC_0066 DSC_0068

Have a great week!IMG_20140510_155418719-2 IMG_20140510_155658693-2 IMG_20140510_185304638-2 IMG_20140510_185742659-2 IMG_20140510_185746697-2

Seem’s hard to believe it is now May and we are still wearing long sleeves and jackets! The weather has been (mostly) less than desirable for much of spring so far! However, we enjoyed our walk through the neighborhood today as you can see. We had Lily jump in the wagon for the photo, she was kind of nervous to be in there, so I don’t think there was any way she would actually stay in there while it was moving.  Finn thought it was great, and loves that doggie got to come with us – and that he saw several others on our walk! He pretty much loves Lily to be around all the time. Cameron is too gimpy to be able to walk long distances so she stayed behind at home 🙁

This was a really late-night work week for me, and I’m pretty beat. I’ve been getting home upwards of 10:30 – 11:45 pm, and I ended up working Saturday until 5.  It is, however, good to be busy and I’m glad to be getting plants down the road. It has been a crazy spring not only weather-wise, but also with shipping plants. I was obviously gone last spring, but I don’t recall 2012 being this absolutely crazy-busy so consistently for so many weeks without a bit of a lull.

Last Sunday we took a last-minute road trip to visit Brett and Missy in their new home. We stayed for a bit and then we all headed to Young’s Jersey Dairy for some ice cream, food, and to visit the animals. Finn and I fed the goats and he really like it! Then we visited the baby goats in the barn. It was a fun time and he was beat by the end of the afternoon. IMG_20140427_132946999-2 IMG_20140427_135610333_HDR-2 IMG_20140427_160848946-2 IMG_20140427_170653120-2 20140427_170643-2 20140427_170917-2 20140427_170953-2 20140427_171250-2 20140427_171323-2 20140427_171406-2 20140427_171408-2 20140427_172143-2 20140427_172626-2 20140427_161938-2This week Kevin plans to build some raised beds and/or vegetable boxes near our patio for our veggie gardening project. These babies need to be planted outside really soon!DSC_0010 DSC_0004 DSC_0001

And I’m excited that our lime tree is fruiting. It needs to warm up a bit more before we can move it outside. The flowers are far messier than I ever realized as once the flower has been pollinated the petals and stamens fall to the ground and they are tacky with sap!DSC_0006Finn just loves to touch plants. He walks right up to any plant he sees and touches it. And often times he smells it! He has the cutest little sniff/snort sound that he makes. And he does the same when he reads a book – if there is a flower on the page, he shoves the book right up to his face and tries to smell it!

Thursday (I think!) Debbie took the boys on a fun trip to go visit the pet store. Finn and Sam loved petting the animals – a puppy, cat, bunny, and they got to look at some birds and other animals too. Here are some photos Debbie took during their excursion.

photo(2)-2 photo(3)-2 photo(4)-2 photo-2And Saturday night we headed out for Pizza at Pies and Pints in none other than Finn’s new big boy car seat!  Wow, can’t believe we are done with the infant carrier, it really brings tears to my eyes. But he loves his new big boy chair. He sits a bit taller in it, so he can see himself much better in the mirror on the back seat. He and daddy picked it out at the store – actually daddy tells me that Finn picked the color 🙂  He was a pretty happy guy after we got on the road. We left later than we planned and he was already getting tired, so he varied between smiles and tears!IMG_20140503_192404525-2 IMG_20140503_191413873-2 IMG_20140503_192230903-2 IMG_20140503_192230903-MIX-2

Spring is my most favorite time of year! This viburnum has the most amazingly fragrant blooms. I love the week each spring that it is in flower and I love seeing all of the redbuds and other spring flowering trees. We are looking forward to planting a few new trees around here this spring/summer too!IMG_20140503_065925664-2
