This was a week of milestones!

On Sunday, Griffin got up on all fours and started rocking back and forth! He can certainly get around, although he isn’t doing an official crawl just yet. You can see in some photos that he often launches himself forward. Forgive the fuzziness, but I thought they captured his process pretty well!

Monday was Griffin’s 6 month well check with the pediatrician. He did really well, he had 2 shots and an oral vaccine – he was a trooper. He checked in at 15 pounds 5 ounces (11 percentile), 26 3/4 inches long (56 percentile) and 42.5 cm head circumference (25 percentile).  For his 6 month photo I sat him up in front of the car – and he held there for about 45 seconds! Tuesday was yet another milestone, for me! I lowered Griffin’s crib one notch!  As you could see in the first photos in this post he is getting pretty mobile and is able to get himself into various positions. Kevin loves to stand Finn up in his crib, and Tricia does too! So, I thought, better safe than sorry as he will one day out of the blue likely pull himself up unexpectedly.  Here is a photo from Tricia of Finn in his lowered diggs!

Wednesday night we went to Slice of Columbus, down at Columbus Commons downtown. It’s a nice fundraiser that benefits Nationwide Children’s Hospital – you purchase a ticket and then can sample pizza from over 20 local and chain pizza shops! Yummers! It was a beautiful fall night and Finn and I enjoyed going down to visit daddy for a few hours. And Wednesday night I lowered Finn’s crib! He loves to stand and he was pretty tall in his crib with the mattress at the newborn height. I figure it is only a matter of time (and not much) before he can pull himself up – so I lowered it one notch!  Growing up fast!

Thursday I headed to Mansfield with Finn to visit with my parents. They were hosting some friends, Bob & Nancy, from North Carolina. I worked for them at their Hosta nursery in 1997 (or was it ’96?!). We had a fun time and Finn got lots of love – however, I forgot to take photos!

Saturday my parents came for a brief visit. Dad and Kevin watched part of the Buckeye game together while Finn was napping. My mom and I hung out and I was working on putting together the NPC Nursery schedule for the remainder of the year. We ended the evening with a lovely dinner with Kevin’s parents, brother Brett and his fiancée, Missy, downtown at Milestone 229. We were all able to celebrate Pat’s birthday. During dinner Griffin had his “first” restaurant high chair experience. He did really well, you can see we had to put the Skip Hop behind him so he didn’t fall backwards. He did great and loved being in it all by himself. His grandma also gave him a quick taste of the chocolate cake!

On Friday, Finn was playing on the floor of his room and I was putting away some of his clothes. He was getting tired and was kind of fussy.  Next thing I knew, I looked down and he had made his way to the car in his room, and was attempting to pull himself up – check it out, he has a bit of air here!

Another week down – and a busy one at that! Seems as though amid all of the busy days we didn’t take too many photos this week. And looking back through all of them it was such a tiring week that many of the shots are of a sleeping baby!

My sister took some great family photos for us while on vacation in Ocean Isle back in August. She came up with the idea to do a nice grouping of canvas prints and she sent us a sample of what she thought might look neat. We both thought it looked awesome, so we ordered the canvas prints and Kevin hung them this week in the front living room. 

Kevin has been working crazy hours (like through the night)  getting home in the wee hours of the morning, around 3 or 4 am! Or he will come home late in the evening only to go back in to work through the night.  October 1 is rapidly approaching and he has a lot on his plate before that day arrives!

On Wednesday Kevin was working late, and the timing worked out that I was able to meet my parents for a brief dinner while they were on their return trip home from vacation with their friends. 

Our sitter, Tricia, came down with strep this week so I stayed home on Thursday and thankfully, Kevin’s parents were able to come stay with us Thursday evening. They played with Finn throughout the day on Friday.  He was a happy baby and got in lots of good play time with Grandma and Grandpa. He even took about a 4 hour afternoon nap for them – yay Finn!   We use an app on our phones that logs naps, diapers, and feedings. Since they didn’t have the app they texted me periodic updates throughout the day Friday.  Of course he was in good hands, but I still love to be able to know how well he sleeps and such while I’m gone.

They were both a tremendous help, as we had volunteered to host our small group that night for our gathering – which included dinner! So while Kevin and I were at work they graciously started the dinner we had planned. Such awesome help. 

We got the carpet in the entire house cleaned on Saturday (everything other than Finn’s room which is brand new). It had been awhile, and I had forgotten how much work it is to get the place clutter free (the carpets anyhow!) in order to get the carpets cleaned. That was a large undertaking and the house is still stockpiled with stuff on all the hard-surface floors as well as barricades to keep the dogs off the damp carpet.  But it is quite nice to have clean carpet despite the disorganization!!

I got some early morning Saturday cuddles with Finn before he went down for his 3 hour nap. Worked out great – I was able to get the house in order for the carpet cleaners to arrive and then he slept the entire time they were here, waking up just as they were leaving.

Saturday afternoon once Kevin got home from work we headed to the Ackerman’s for the OSU game. It was pretty much a blow out, which allowed Finn to get in some good play time with the Howard’s and Ackerman’s and then he and daddy got in brief naps….yes Kevin slept on the floor!
