We started this week by celebrating our pup Brutus’ first birthday! Wow, how can it be that he is already one. He’s been a part of our family for 9 months already and in that time he has grown immensely! We were able to get him to wear a party hat for a short bit and snap some pics. He also had a cupcake and we gave him a huge rope toy which lasted all of a couple hours before he had it torn to shreds. His teeth are sharp! He was sick a couple days later from eating too much rope, ugh! We’ve found thus far that the only toy he isn’t able to destroy are the large jolly balls we got awhile back at Costco.  It’s that time of year – apple art!
And it was unseasonably warm, so much so that the water toys made one last appearance. Griffin, Sam, Cole, and Cooper enjoyed some sunny afternoon play this week. Reid, he wasn’t a fan though the water was cool I’m sure. He can’t always be all smiles, lol.  He is still loving his paci and ripping it out of his mouth. He hangs on to it and puts it in and out of his mouth, but he tends to bite and chew on it more than actually put it in his mouth correctly and suck on it.  I love how he always holds on to my hand.  Griffin had his yearly eye exam this week too. He did really well at this machine, which takes a picture of his eye. And his eyes are looking great – he was able to read the letters on the wall without any issues. My appointment was at the same time also though my prescription has changed, for the better in my right eye. I’m glad to know why my vision has been so blurry. It turns out my right eye needs a 1/2 power less, hence the focus issues I’ve been having!  Griffin has really been enjoying soccer and he’s been super happy that Kevin has been able to make it to a couple of his lessons. He always enjoys having Daddy out on the field for Sharks and Minnows before or after class. Kevin is the Shark who tries to take down the minnows (kids) by kicking the ball and hitting them with it. If you’re struck with the ball you have to lay down and the only way you can get up is for someone to jump over you.  There is another Griffin is his class, who also has a younger brother, and each week after class they love to stay after and play a good game running from Kevin.  Griffin continues to have fun at preschool. I enjoy looking at his papers and how he’s coloring, cutting, counting, and writing numbers and letters. He’s very particular with his coloring, often choosing several colors in small spaces and really staying within the lines! This week at Millcreek an aviation company has used our property as a home base for their trailers, supplies, and helicopter landing area. They are replacing the spacers within the wires over several thousand miles. In the end they will replaces 22,000 of them! They are only in our area for a short time, it takes about and hour to replace the spacers between two towers. You should see this in action – the guy holds out something that creates a big blue bolt and zap of electricity and hooks it to the wire.  They he works quickly to take off the old spacer and put on the new spacer, all while the helicopter pilot hovers in place.  It’s a sight to see!
On Friday evening we attended Griffin’s last NPCA Fun Fest! He enjoyed a night of playing games and eating hot dogs and ice cream. I can’t believe this is his third and final year of pre-school.  And here are a few others from the week.  My first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season – hard to believe it is that time of year.  Kevin treated me to this one when he brought it home to me when he returned from running some errands. I was able to rock Reid to sleep while enjoying a sweet treat!

We haven’t yet come up with a nickname for Reid though we often call him “monkey” or “stink bug” or other names we use for Griffin. I’m thinking perhaps “cheeks” or “smiles” are good fits though 🙂

Griffin continues to love “Debbie days” and these photos are just part of the reason why. He’s always learning through play similar to when he’s at school but instead at home and in his comfy clothes. We are blessed to have her. She loves Griffin and Reid as if they were her own and teaching them along the way is just a bonus.
Ever since Reid was born I’ve placed my hand on the side of his face to settle him down or get him to fall asleep. I love that he’s taken to grabbing my arm whenever I put my hand or arm near his face. He just clamps down and holds on!
Griffin typically takes showers but every now and then he enjoys a “play bath” where we fill up the tub with bubble water and he plays with his toys for a half hour or so. This particular day I thought, hey Reid needs a bath – let’s have him take a bath with Griffin. He was a bit apprehensive to hold Reid and then pretty quickly Reid squirmed and went under for a quick second. But no worries, back up quickly bathed and all done!
I took many pictures on the 20th, for Reid’s four-month birthday. He moves to quickly that I don’t think I got one photo that didn’t have some part of it blurry! But this collage sums up our quick photo session pretty well.

Whenever I clean, which is rare these days, Griffin sees what I’m doing and wants to help. He will often do things to earn money for Happiness, the girl his preschool sponsors through Compassion International. He loves going to the cleaning closet and getting out various supplies. He really enjoys being a helper.  I’ve begun walking to get some exercise to enjoy the nice weather and to blow off steam once I get home from work. Being gone more than three months has me playing a lot of catch up and there is no shortage of work. Since I’m trying to unbury myself I rarely leave the office so by the end of the day I’m ready for some fresh air! Griffin is loving his new bike and we’ve discovered a Free Library in the neighborhood across Jewett Road. So our new thing is to go on walks and donate/take a book! Jack and the Beanstalk has been Griffin’s favorite bedtime story for a long time now and on our first discovery of the free library what book was in the box? Yep, Jack and the Beanstalk! He was so excited. I felt super accomplished on this morning as we got our walk in before church!  Some days are just down right tiring. Griffin hasn’t napped since summertime and he rarely falls asleep when he sits or lays down during the day (unlike his Mama, lol). This day was another story, however, as he fell asleep on the dog bed!

And here is a short video of Reid babbling and eating his feet!

The many faces of Reid! Our little man has so many expressions and simply the most heart-warming smile. He lights up the room and can make anyone smile when he turns his on. He’s been eating his hands a lot and drooling on the regular. This weekend Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong came for a visit and Grandpa and Kevin put in new lights in Reid’s room. Four recessed lights along with a ceiling fan and light combo. It is SO nice to have light in there now! Grandma enjoyed playing with Reid and Griffin and I was able to get all kinds of things done which was an awesome feeling! We are thankful for their help. Reid even spent some time in the “walker”, which we use as a stationary play set for him. He makes the cutest faces as he concentrates and reaches for the noisemakers.

Reid is really in to grabbing any and everything. He’s getting pretty close to outgrowing the baby bassinet that we use on the countertops as he can grab the sun visor!

I enjoy seeing the fun the boys have during the day. Reid has been enjoying having books read to him by Debbie and Griffin.

Here is Reid’s ceiling before any lights followed by a pic from after they were almost finished. What a huge difference! The recessed lights are LED too.  Kevin also put a new LED light in his closet too.  And here you can check out Griffin showing off his little bro’s room. This particular evening he had me laughing so hard I was crying. He wanted me to record him so I took several videos, one of which I’ve posted here. He was so excited and being so silly. I’m happy to have it on video.

This. It just kind of worries me and perplexes me at the same time. Reid almost always falls asleep with his right eye cracked open! Sometimes it’s both of his eyes but always his right eye open more than his left. I plan to ask the pediatrician about it at his 4 month well check and I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but it’s kind of freaky to me! Debbie was unexpectedly sick this week so I ended up going in to work late on day and taking Reid with me.  Thankfully he is an easy baby and slept or was happy while we were there long enough for me to get some things taken care of. The following day Jim and Pat came up which was a great help!Griffin continues to enjoy playing with our neighbors Cole and Cooper. They go back and forth playing at each of our houses, inside, outside, it just depends on the day and the weather! We love that he has kiddos to play with in our neighborhood.  And here he is eating his favorite choice: fish and chips! Although this night he was able to tell the fish wasn’t “cod” and he wasn’t as big of a fan as he typically is. This kid cracks me up.
