This has been a week filled with memories to last forever!
Early in the week we took Finn to his semi-yearly dental check-up. His teeth were in tip top shape and his hygienist gave him numerous compliments on good brushing and being the best well behaved 3 year old she’s ever had. He loves going there and getting to pick out a bag of goodies at the end that includes things like a sticker, a tiny toy, a toothbrush, and floss.
We also ventured out on Griffin’s first field trip for school to Leed’s Farm. It was a super beautiful day, actually quite warm, to explore the outdoors and see a lot of animals. He loved feeding the goats and going down the huge slide. We also went on a lengthy wagon ride which ended up in the pumpkin patch where we picked pumpkins and gourds to take home. His Tiger class and several other classes from NPCA were there at the same time so we were able to hang with familiar faces and friends.
Leed’s is about 5 minutes from Millcreek so we make a quick pit stop there and of course, Finn wanted to drive the tractors.
Next up: OSU vs Indiana football game on Saturday! As it turns out, the OSU-IU game was what Kevin and I went to 5 years ago for our “first date”. We had met the night before at a pre-arranged happy hour and he asked me to go to the OSU game the next day, and I said yes. We thought it would be so neat to take Finn to his first ever OSU football game nearly 5 years after his dad and I met, attending the first game we ever saw together. We wanted to make it really fun, so Kevin got up at 4:30 am to drive to Enon to borrow George (the camper) from his parents! He arrived back in Columbus at Campus around 6:15 am to secure an awesome tailgating spot for us! I woke up early too (not nearly as early as Kevin!) to start making our food and getting all the necessary supplies together. Once Finn woke up (which was actually really late, like after 9 am) we got in the car and headed to a pit stop at the grocery on our way to the tailgate. As it turned out, I pulled in and I knew ahead of time the lot was full but the gentlemen let me park temporarily at the entrance to unload all of our things. Then, just as Kevin jumped in the car to move it I noticed someone was leaving the lot. Kevin went and asked the gentlemen if he could take their spot and they let us in – free! That was a super nice treat and made it so awesome that we were in the same lot, just cars away! Kevin had a great spot with a large lawn area where we setup a tent, table, and all of our food as well as cornhole and lawn chairs. We spent a few hours hanging out along with our friends, The Vertuccis, who came down too. We made such last minute plans to go to the game that not too many friends were able to join us, but we’re glad they came as Finn had a great time playing with them!
Next up we headed to the game. It was a gorgeous and sunny afternoon game, 3:30 pm kickoff. Once we had made the decision to go to the game Kevin bought our tickets – and man – they were awesome! They were in almost the exact same spot we sat in 5 years ago, A deck, first row, at the 12 yard line near the open end of the ‘shoe. It is right where the teams come out! We had such a fun time and it was so great to see the amazement on Finn’s face. He was just taking it all in. He was really in to the game too and loved the half time break to go get some snacks.
Perhaps the most memorable portion of the day was getting to meet Brutus! He ran by our section many times and this particular time we had just gotten back from grabbing our half time treats. Our hands were full, but we flagged him down and Finn got to smack his hand but we didn’t have any time to get our phones out to snag a pic. Thankfully, our seat-neighbors yelled for Brutus to come back – and he did – and this time he jumped up onto the railing, gave Finn a fuzzy on his head, and posed for several photos. It was so great! People all around us were so excited and cheering and snapping photos. The first photo of this post was actually taken by the lady sitting next to us! And that was a great end to our week!

It’s definitely Fall around here – OSU football and apples are in full swing. I’ve been enjoying taking Tuesday’s off and taking Griffin to school. I love hearing about his day and the stories that he has to share. This day we took Tony the Tiger back from his weekend of fun with us. Part of having the class mascot is journaling what adventures and fun you had with him. Kevin put together a neat collage with all of our weekend activities!
After school Finn and I headed downtown to enjoy a treat at the North Market. I had some tasty veggie dishes from The Little Eater, and as you can see Finn attacked a large pretzel!
I love it when Finn does art at school or with Debbie. He is so excited to share what he made and tell about it. Here he drew the Earth!
All things apples! This week Debbie had a fun activity making applesauce with the apples we picked last weekend with Mom and Dad. And at the end, after all the hard work, Finn sampled his work – it was delish!
I also love arriving home to or seeing pictures throughout the day of Finn playing dress-up and pretend. He’s got a very creative imagination and tells the best stories with his outfits. Even Lily got to wear some props.
Kevin and I met up with the Vertuccis this week for date night at the new Pins Mechanical in downtown Cbus. It is a new concept for adult entertainment that includes numerous pinball machines, ping pong tables, and duck-pin bowling! That was our first go at playing duck-pin and it was so fun! We had a great time (and yours truly happened to win!).
Friday was the Fun Fest at Griffin’s preschool. There are many games, one held in each of the preschool classrooms, hot dogs, ice cream, and prizes! It was a fun evening and you can see here, in Finn’s Tiger class – he pinned the spider in the center of the web! Yay Finn!
On Saturday the doorbell rang and Lily went nuts of course. Kevin retrieved a package sent to Finn from Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein. Turns out when they were cleaning the basement they came upon a Tyger (note the spelling) from Dad’s school board days – so they were kind enough to send it to our Tiger! Finn has loved sleeping with it 🙂

Look who got to bring home the class mascot this week! Finn was so excited to bring home Tony the Tiger from his class. We had an action packed weekend weekend and Tony was able to join us on our adventures!
Next up was a bike ride through our neighborhood followed by ice cream at Graeters and plenty of snuggles. Yum!
On Saturday we went on a road trip to pick apples at Apple Hill with Mom and Dad. It was a warm and sunny afternoon, a perfect day to be outside! And once again, Lily was able to join us. This girl is getting to be pretty spoiled!
Afterwards we decided on a whim to stop for dinner at the Buckeye Diner, which is just off Rt 97 exit of 71. The restaurant is an old train that has been converted to a diner. We all had burgers and fries and played around a bit outside before heading home.
Sunday was yet another beautiful day and our adventures took us to our annual trip to the New Albany Classic. It was WARM and sunny. The layout was a bit different this year so all of the inflatables were in the sunshine, which made it nice yet very hot! Tony the Tiger got to meet princesses and see some horse-jumping. One of Finn’s favorite parts was new this year. They had a Hollywood exhibit that showcased costumes and apparel from movies and shows. Batman, Spiderman, Ironman and many other characters outfits were there. The plants in this exhibit looked really cool this year, most of them were from Millcreek!
And here are a few others from our week. Finn is getting to be really great using a knife for cutting. Here he wanted to help me cut onions for dinner and he did a fine job. Finn, Debbie, and Sam also ventured to Highbanks Metro Park this week where they explored nature and got their feet wet! And they made yummy pumpkin sugar-cookie cut-outs!
