IMG_20141205_195158326Our week started out on a rough note, as Finn woke up Monday morning with a fever and runny nose.  Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong were here to watch him that day, which we had planned awhile back, and thankfully they were able to stay Tuesday and Wednesday too – as Debbie wasn’t able to find care for Sammy, and we certainly didn’t want him to catch this bug! Unfortunately, later in the week Grandma and Grandpa both ended up catching the bug too and Kevin had a bug also – though not the same as Griffin.  Ugh! Thankfully I was able to ward off the germs.  This is really the first time Finn has been sick, other than the ear infections he had back in January/February. He hasn’t ever had a runny/snotty nose and fever.  Poor guy, he woke up in the mornings with his entire upper lip crusted over.  When I would try to clean it off, he would cry, and then turn super cute and say “hi mamma, hi mamma, hi mamma” while trying to touch my face. He certainly has a good distraction strategy in place.  We spent lots of time taking baths too, which made him quite happy. IMG_20141205_080049248 IMG_20141203_185116953 IMG_20141203_185310890 IMG_20141203_185548638 DSC_0308

Our week was pretty uneventful otherwise, until Sunday when we decorated our tree and began the elf on the shelf tradition.  “Alfred” (aka ALF-Raaad if you are Finn)  made his appearance and Griffin loved hugging on him while we read him the book.  Griffin “hung” the first ornament on our tree – a photo from this year’s trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. He was really proud 🙂DSC_0311 DSC_0315 DSC_0317 DSC_0318 DSC_0327 DSC_0331 DSC_0334 DSC_0338 DSC_0341 DSC_0355 DSC_0364 DSC_0366 DSC_0372 DSC_0320 DSC_0323 DSC_0322 DSC_0376 DSC_0379 DSC_0380 DSC_0396 DSC_0397

Can you find Alfred?!DSC_0401 DSC_0406 DSC_0409 DSC_0419 DSC_0424 DSC_0426And here are a few other photos from the week. Poor quality as they are from my phone.  Finn stepped into my shoes one night, and Kevin’s the next. He proceeded to walk in his room and the kitchen – and he was pretty successful! And Debbie has been doing all kinds of Christmas drawing and painting crafts too – Griffin loves to paint (peet) and draw. The last photo is fuzzy, but cute, as Finn was “making doggy feel better” by cleaning out his nose with the snot sucker!IMG_20141205_184300894 IMG_20141205_195310166 photo (51)

DSC_0176We have much to be thankful for, both now, in the Thanksgiving and Christmas season and throughout the year. Our sweet little boy just warms our heart, he is a true joy. We are blessed to come from loving, caring, and generous families who continue support us in many ways. We are thankful for our friends who love and support us and share life with us. I am thankful that God has provided such a loving, caring, and supportive husband who loves me day in and day out, no matter what.

Finn and I headed to Mansfield Tuesday evening in preparation for our annual Hosta Seed Planting and greenhouse covering adventures. Seems as though dad and I aren’t as productive as we once were – we only planted a small handful of trays on Wednesday – yikes! Finn was pretty spoiled as he was the only grandchild there on Tuesday evening. He was soaking up Grandma and Grandpa’s attention. The rest of the troops arrived on Wednesday. We were fortunate to spend time with both of our families on Thanksgiving Day. We enjoyed the Armstrong gathering at Dave & Gayle’s where Finn played with Grandma and Grandpa. He loved going outside to see Boogey and Joe, Dave & Gayle’s horses.  To this day if I ask Finn about Boogey (he refers to him as Booger, lol, which is somewhat telling I hear), he says “Doe”, for Joe. He has an amazing memory, heck, I often can’t even remember things that he does! We also joined the Beilstein’s for dinner and a short bit of play time before bed.  All of the food everywhere was delicious – we are fortunate to eat twice 🙂 Black Friday began with our traditional breakfast at Bob Evans, followed by lots of shopping at Polaris and then a bit at Easton along with dinner at Bon Vie. It was a packed day, but a fun one for sure!DSC_0007 DSC_0011 DSC_0015 IMG_20141126_175413233

These two went off on a few adventures together. IMG_20141126_190015762 IMG_20141126_190124912 DSC_0022

And these boys are two peas in a pod with their lovies. DSC_0023 DSC_0026 DSC_0032 DSC_0033 DSC_0036 DSC_0038 DSC_0042

This is Boogey (aka Booger, if you’re Finn). He’s playful and is sniffing my head here in our selfie. DSC_0046

And here is Joe. DSC_0050 DSC_0053 DSC_0056 DSC_0057 DSC_0068 DSC_0069 Lots of younger cousin play time happening!DSC_0070 DSC_0071 DSC_0076 DSC_0077 DSC_0084 DSC_0061 DSC_0063 DSC_0086 DSC_0087 DSC_0088 DSC_0092 DSC_0093 Oh, and I snapped this picture of an Olan Mills photo of the cousins from 1979. Kevin is the top row, left. He is 16 years old here! Todd is next to him, then Scot, then Sean. Middle row is Brett and Jason. Bottom row is Juan, Carmen, Ashley, and Jared.  Some cousins aren’t in the photo – as they weren’t born yet!DSC_0064 We jumped out of the car and snapped this photo on our way out of town. It is near farmland that was once farmed by Kevin’s grandfather. Pretty cool, right?DSC_0094 DSC_0101

Silly cousins….DSC_0108 DSC_0110 And Lily photo bombing this one……DSC_0112 DSC_0113All of the boys wanted to sit in the rocking recliner together!
DSC_0117 This is a pretty typical scene – Lily with a bone amid a bunch of toys!DSC_0119 DSC_0123 DSC_0129 DSC_0133

Let Black Friday madness begin!

At this point we were reaching deliriousness – running up and down the men’s suit selection and hiding and giggling. Followed very shortly thereafter with screaming and crying as he was beyond done!IMG_20141128_192900168We ventured to Cackler Family Farms again this year to search for the perfect tree to cut. We were on a mission, as it was the OSU-v-Michigan game day! We walked around a little bit, but pretty quickly found the tree for us. A 13′ Cannan Fir. Finn loved riding in the sled. It was pretty breezy, but he was a real trooper, getting right up with Kevin to “help” cut down the tree.DSC_0135DSC_0138DSC_0141DSC_0147DSC_0155DSC_0164DSC_0171DSC_0176DSC_0157DSC_0177DSC_0179DSC_0181DSC_0185DSC_0187DSC_0194DSC_0198DSC_0201DSC_0202DSC_0204DSC_0206DSC_0213DSC_0216DSC_0221DSC_0222DSC_0224DSC_0226DSC_0235DSC_0237DSC_0243DSC_0245DSC_0247DSC_0248DSC_0252DSC_0253DSC_0305DSC_0278IMG_20141129_124742426_HDRDSC_0254DSC_0259DSC_0262DSC_0263DSC_0265DSC_0267DSC_0272DSC_0290DSC_0291And here are a few random photos from the week.  Finn brushing his teeth while sitting in a box I had just emptied. Then he decided to cuddle with Lily and a short while later he was playfully crawling all over Cameron, and testing the waters by standing on a bin in his rooms – arms up, none-the-less!

We returned from vacation late Monday night and I had the remainder of the week off work so Finn and I enjoyed a relaxing start to the day with lots of play time in his room on Tuesday morning. His room is so warm and cozy and he was loving running around in his diaper. Lately he’s been really in to feeding his dragon. Typical fare includes tractors and balls. Sometimes if he’s having trouble getting the treat to stick in the mouth of the dragon he says “mama, help”. It’s pretty cute. Kevin was up really early that morning as well, as he returned to work that day. He has been home and has gotten to see Griffin grow so much throughout the day for the past several months, and to be honest I was kind of nervous about how he would react to Kevin being gone as our regular routine is for me to get Finn out of bed and then we go find daddy together. So we lingered for awhile and had some fun, though he did miss his daddy!IMG_20141118_091026418_HDR IMG_20141118_091237188 IMG_20141118_091257119 IMG_20141118_091520931 IMG_20141118_091745353Griffin has been taking really long naps this past week, anywhere from 2 1/2 hours to 4 1/2 hours! When he woke up on Wednesday around 5, I packed Finn in the car and we headed to Mansfield to help mom and dad prepare for our annual hosta seed planting adventure. We got on the road rather late and we started our visit with a nice dinner while mom ventured to choir practice. The night kind of moved along quickly, so we ended up spending the night and having a nice breakfast the next morning. Finn loved playing football with Papa and running around, dancing, and showing off for Grandma. He was smitten with a balloon that mom and dad had for a recent party at their house, so much that they gave it to him to take home – and he still carries it around each day. IMG_20141120_092640922_HDRIMG_20141120_092657712 IMG_20141120_092740884_HDR IMG_20141120_103051499_HDRIMG_20141120_110815435The rest of our week was pretty low-key. Finn had his follow up booster shot on Friday. He was such a big boy, he didn’t even whimper or cry, just a quick jitter at first. We celebrated with a trip to Tim Horton’s and a nice large pack of timbits aka “doe doe’s”. He was super hungry by this time, and ate a whopping 6 timbits. Yikes!  Brings a smile to his face to have a doe doe. IMG_20141121_103508492 IMG_20141122_101534867 Here Finn put two of his pillows into his car for a more plush ride, lol. He was pretty excited about it. IMG_20141120_141006242 IMG_20141122_114654386Lily enjoyed a nice lazy nap in her bed one morning too. IMG_20141122_112228065_HDR

And here is a video of Finn and his new ability to climb in to his bouncer and go wild.  He has a pretty good time.
