I love this time of year and I love how I will find Griffin just sitting on the couch cuddling with Lily and admiring the Christmas tree.  He regularly asks about the “Christmas season” and if it is still the Christmas season and how long it lasts. His mind is always working and he continues to surprise me with his thoughts and the concepts he comes up with and understands for his age. While this is a fuzzy picture it is one I love because this is how Griffin has slept since he was born – with his arms under his head. He doesn’t do it all the time as he is typically a tummy sleeper, but when he’s on his back you can usually find his hands under his head. On Tuesday after preschool Finn and I venture up to Mom and Dad’s to help cover the greenhouse for the winter season. It was a dismal day – cold, raining, just all around yucky.  But shortly after we arrived the rain subsided as did the wind and it was one of the easiest covering jobs we’ve done! Here Finn is doing some morning yoga 🙂 On Friday night we celebrated Jim, Brett, and Kevin’s birthdays with a lovely dinner out at Liberty Tavern. Afterward we headed back to our house for cake, ice cream, and prezzies. Nice pic of the birthday boys! Our winter adventure for the weekend was heading downtown to see the Nutcracker. This was Griffin’s first time, although technically I was pregnant with him when Kevin and I went in 2012, lol! We joined the Bethune’s there and afterwards our crews headed to Buca di Beppo for an Italian Feast. It was a fun night!

IMG_8684This week Kevin and I had fun with friends on a trip to see Chris Stapleton and Hank Williams Jr at Blossom Music Center. It had been planned for quite awhile to celebrate Chris Howards birthday and it was nice to hang out and have some fun after the recent passing of Chris’ dad. Six of us headed up for the night to hang and have some fun. We had lawn seats and as you’ll see – it poured rain for about 20 minutes just as we were parking in the grass lot. So, that meant quite a soggy experience and muddy feet (for me)! But the show was great and the company was lots of fun.  Finn had a fun night with Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein! He and I headed there Friday morning and after I got picked up to head north, Finn and Papa did some hosta watering (or as it may have been – jumping in the mud puddles!). Grandma and Grandpa also built a cool tower almost as big as Finn! This is really only the second time we’ve left Finn for an overnight without us (ironically the last time was when he was 1 year old and that was at Mom and Dad’s too, when we went to see David Nail in concert in Medina – something about concerts and northern Ohio!). IMG_8683 IMG_8680 IMG_8681 IMG_8685
IMG_8689 IMG_8702 IMG_8693 IMG_8704 IMG_8733 IMG_8734 IMG_8730IMG_8674Earlier in the week, Finn and I took our Lils to the vet specialist to have two of her teeth checked out at the recommendation of our Vet who did a dental cleaning a month or so ago. Turns out she had an upper large molar extracted and a lower molar root canal! She was a champ and Finn really enjoyed being able to take her in and hold her leash while we talked to Dr. Tom (who by the way, is an awesome vet). Walking in to his office in Hilliard is almost like walking through a tropical garden, apparently he has quite a green thumb. IMG_8634 IMG_8637 IMG_8631 IMG_8633The night we returned from Ocean Isle there was a huge rain storm that dumped a couple inches of rain. Our skylights in the loft have been leaking during large downpours for the last 6-12 months and this day it was even worse! I setup 4 cups to catch the rain water, and even worse it had begun leaking in the great room vaulted ceiling near our new light fixture! We’ve got roofers scheduled to come give estimates – a new roof can’t be avoided any longer as we also have a leak in the large guest bedroom near the wall to Finn’s room. Ugh  – the joys of owning a home!IMG_8629 IMG_8630Here are a few other pics from our week: Finn wanted to help me clean, he had a nice bath (which is a treat for him as we usually have him shower!), and him scooping up the pepper seeds one night when I was making dinner. I’m attempting to be a better cook and make more dinners at home – this is not my gift, but dinner on this night was quite tasty!IMG_8638 IMG_8639 IMG_8643 IMG_8656 IMG_8657 IMG_8664 IMG_8661 IMG_8660 IMG_8659On Saturday, after we returned from the concert, we spent the day and night in Mansfield to celebrate Rowan’s 5th birthday at the Infield in Lexington. It was a fun afternoon of video games and go cart riding – until the downpour arrived! Thankfully we were given vouchers to come back another time since we got rained out! So Sunday after church we headed back again for more go-carting and Finn’s first miniature golf experience. He did really well, but also got really frustrated at certain times as he just wanted to “do it by myself”.  He did, however, get a hole in 1! You’ll see the photo where Kevin helped him tee off and he was SO excited his face is priceless. IMG_8735 IMG_8740 IMG_8738 IMG_8750 IMG_8756 IMG_8753 IMG_8764 IMG_8788 IMG_8801 IMG_8803 IMG_8804 IMG_8772 IMG_8776 IMG_8782Finn also wanted to take some photos this week so here are a couple of his – one of me and one of Kevin’s shoes!IMG_8668 c

To say I’m behind is an understatement! Today is July 1st and I am trying to catch up back to our April posts! Yikes!! But here goes at my attempt to recollect our weeks of spring.  It’s rather fitting, actually, as spring is often so busy with work and long days that all of a sudden it is summer.

This weekend we celebrated Greta’s 3rd birthday at Franklin Park Conservatory (well, the family did – I got stuck at work and arrived just before it was time to leave 🙁 ). It was a really warm afternoon and the kiddos had fun. Afterwards we headed back to the Bethune’s for dinner, cake, and presents. The theme this year was butterflies, can you tell? Kevin has a lot more photos on his phone, so I’ll have to add more here once I get them from him 🙂IMG_5709 IMG_5705IMG_5789 IMG_5714 IMG_5720 IMG_5721 IMG_5726 IMG_5787 IMG_5741 IMG_5753 IMG_5760 IMG_5762

Finn had fun during the week this week too with science experiments, a visit to Franklin Park Conservatory with Debbie, a trip to Graeter’s (with Lily!), and playing outside.  He’s an awesome helper in the garden. One afternoon he wanted to water the plants, so he grabbed his watering can, moved a chair over to the kitchen sink, filled it up, and went out to water the plants. Take note that he’s fully prepared with his gardening gloves and hat 🙂  He’s loving his “new” helmets from the Bethune’s!IMG_5670 IMG_5669

IMG_5784 IMG_5858 IMG_5859 IMG_5860 IMG_5856 IMG_5864 IMG_5792 Kevin and Finn devised a nice paper funnel to plant some bean seeds in our mason jar.  It worked really well – we will see how our little beans grow. Our other seedlings are off to a good start, just a week or so after planting. IMG_5831 IMG_5657 IMG_5682 IMG_5678 IMG_5679 Finn and Daddy also built a nice Lincoln Log house.IMG_5785 IMG_5875 Oh, and some fun with lip balm!IMG_5794 Bunny, Dog Dog, and Doggie blanket are staples around here 🙂 IMG_5786 And this week Sarah asked me to go to a fundraiser for an organization started by one of her friends. It was held at Dock580, where Kevin and I were married, so it was a bit nostalgic being there. I don’t think we’ve been back since our wedding. Sarah and I took a selfie of ourselves on the lawn where our wedding tent was. IMG_5694

And once again, Google put together a pretty good summary of our week!
