Finn ~ 31 weeks

We had a pretty uneventful week until the weekend when we traveled to Dayton to celebrate at a couples shower in honor of Brett and Missy’s upcoming wedding! It was a nice afternoon capped off with a fine dinner with the family. Finn came along for the day and saw lots of family that he hasn’t seen for quite awhile.

On occasion I spot Kevin biting on a paper towel and I’ve noticed recently that Finn loves to bunch up the burp cloth or bath towel and shove it in his face. Here’s a perfect image of the two of them doing it at once – and this is a random shot, I did not stage this!!DSC_0684 DSC_0686 DSC_0688

Finn loves to hold his own bottle so much so that you can lay him down in the pack and play or his play pen and give him a bottle and he will feed himself! I still enjoy the cuddles and so does Kevin, but he does usually hold his own bottle the entire time. He will even take it out of his mouth several times and then put it back in when he’s ready for more. It’s really kind of fun to watch 🙂  For as long as I can remember he has always brushed his fingers on things – here is a perfect example of him doing it on his own lips:DSC_0634-001 DSC_0631-001 DSC_0630-001

He can move around doing a combination army crawl and real crawl with his belly off the floor and moving his knees. However, he loves to stand so much that he usually only gets as far as the first object he sees and then he stops and stands up. We usually find him standing up in his crib at the end of a nap or in the morning – or at the very least on his knees. He is actually getting really good at moving around his music table or twisting 180 degrees using his feet when he is standing between objects, like the couch and the ottoman. He’s gaining new skills each day! DSC_0629 DSC_0626-001 DSC_0664 DSC_0645-001 DSC_0669 DSC_0673 DSC_0677

The drive to work has been really pretty this last week with the sun shining on the trees along the river. I stopped one day to take a few photos. Here  are a few along with some nice groups of plants in several houses at Millcreek. Things are looking good for our spring 2014 crop – I’ve captured these as I’ve been trying to get some new images for our upcoming catalog and website makeover project!DSC_0539-001 DSC_0541-001 DSC_0540-001 DSC_0542-001 DSC_0544-001 DSC_0554-001 DSC_0557-002 DSC_0609-002 DSC_0613-002 DSC_0614-002

Have a great week!

Finn ~ 8 weeks

8weeks

It was a pretty low-key week around here this week. Sunday after church we headed to Amy and Andy’s house for a bit of lunch. Then Andy and Kevin tackled hanging a large mirror in their dining room before we headed home for our visitors, Brett and Missy.  They came to spend the afternoon with us – and announced THEY GOT ENGAGED!  Yay!  A big congrats!! No wedding date just yet, but we are quite excited. We went out to dinner to celebrate and somehow we didn’t snap one photo during their visit, ugh!

We had several firsts this week!  Saturday Kevin and I worked in the yard while Finn napped for 2 ½ hours! I thought for sure the monitor wasn’t working!!  But sure enough, he just took a fabulous nap which allowed us to work out in the yard for a couple of hours.  We later headed to Easton for a bit of shopping and then it was Finn’s first trip to an Indian Temple (mine too!) to celebrate the birthday of our good friend. We enjoyed wonderful Indian food and everyone adored Finn. It was the first time many of them had seen him and he was quite a hit.

Having time off work has been really enjoyable. While my once sleepful nights are now full of feedings I’m also lucky to enjoy sleeping in many mornings or taking naps throughout the day. Finn has had a couple days of good naps – which have been around 2 hours.  That is a lengthy nap for this little one. I’m also able to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner and enjoy a lot of flexibility which I have greatly enjoyed. This week, Sarah and I enjoyed a nice brunch at First Watch. She helped me in reviewing many resume’s and with my overall quest for finding childcare. Having been through this numerous times before with her four girls, she has been a huge resource and help in making me feel like I’m on the right track! She has given me numerous tidbits of info and advice that have been much appreciated!!

I will be going back to work in about a month so we thought we should see how Finn does with a bottle of breastmilk. I’ve begun to pump here and there to build of a “supply” of sorts. We thought it would be good so we could have a backup plan if I’m out and about sometime without him and he  gets fussy and wants to eat. So on Monday Kevin gave Finn his first bottle and he did great!!

Here is Lily in her favorite spot. Whenever we are in Finn’s nursery she cozies up in the small corner behind the chair and alongside Finn’s crib.  This girl loves small spaces!
