IMG_20150423_225255286Well, spring has been here in full-on beast mode with my work, which means I’m several weeks behind with the blog. The weeks are all pretty much blur, and I certainly miss being home spending time with Kevin and Finn. But we have captured some photos and a fun video of our amazing and silly little boy.  Above, where Finn is sleeping, is often how I see him these days when I check on him after I get home from work. And it’s pretty much what I feel like doing myself!

Over the weekend we had some fun in his room. He loves to climb and balance himself on rocks, or in this cased daddy. And balance the circle on his head 🙂DSC_0027 DSC_0025 DSC_0005 DSC_0006 DSC_0010

Finn continues to have fun weeks full of adventure and play. This week the monthly play-group had a play date at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Finn used to not like the butterflies, but now he loves them and likes it when they land on him!

Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong came up to play with Finn on Sunday afternoon while Kevin and I went to a Michael W. Smith concert in Springfield with a couple friends. It was a really nice concert, that Kevin had discovered would be happening several weeks back. A nice treat on a Sunday afternoon. I grew up listening to his music and hadn’t seen him in years and he sang songs both old and new!DSC_0034 IMG_20150426_160847

DSC_0431This boy loves to dance! We have this Pandora radio on the back stairs landing and it is Finn’s favorite thing to go turn up the volume and then just start dancing (deece – as he calls it). DSC_0429 DSC_0457DSC_0465He is also getting very good at pointing out all of the parts of his head – hair, eyes, mouth, teeth, and as you’ll see below, ears and nose (lol).  We’re working on the tapping of the nose rather than inserting the finger 🙂DSC_0452DSC_0447This week we watched Kevin play at his weekly softball game. There were a ton of other young kids there too and Finn liked exploring so many new toys. Finn loves to crawl all around the bed in his room when it’s time to put on his pj’s. He just says “nu nu” (for naked baby) and dive bombs the pillows.  It’s pretty cute. And he absolutely loves to help clean the wood floors (good thing, I’m thinking!). DSC_0404 DSC_0405IMG_20140724_212629515 IMG_20140724_212805337DSC_0410 DSC_0408Wednesday I took the day off for a play date at the Powell Sprinkler Park, however, the weather didn’t quite cooperate as it was raining all morning. Instead, we headed to Magic Mountain indoor play area near Polaris and had fun meeting up with friends and watching Finn enjoy the new atmosphere.  He absolutely loves balls, so he was in heaven when we arrived to a floor full of them. IMG_20140723_101201981 IMG_20140723_114216642 IMG_20140723_104636900

We’ve had a successful week of picking out granite for the counters as well as hardware for the cabinets and drawers. We visited a granite supplier we heard about when visiting the Parade of Homes.  Good thing Kevin didn’t listen to me when I uttered on our way there “why can’t we just go where we’ve already been and narrow our choices down from what we already like?”.  Ha! Then we would have missed the yearly “Parade of Homes Sale” which turned out to be really good timing. Juparana Cathedral (in the top two photos with the kitchen cabinet face) is what we picked for the kitchen and island countertops. It has a lot of brown that picks up the brown in the cabinet. The third photo, is what we picked for the first floor bathroom, Santa Silvia.  Actually looking at them here they look alot alike, but in person they don’t seem quite so similar. The cabinet installers were here on Friday to begin putting the cabinets together and they will begin hanging them on Monday.  The dark cabinet in the pictures is the vanity for the bathroom. And the flooring is nearing the end with only a portion of the dining room, front foyer, and office remaining. IMG_20140725_142238437 IMG_20140725_143209796 IMG_20140725_144453870_HDRDSC_0422 DSC_0423 DSC_0424 DSC_0425 DSC_0426And here are a few other shots from the week: Finn riding in his car seat (the second photo he is making his purposeful, eye squinting face that I find hilarious), one from the Lady Antebellum concert Friday night at the State Fair, a birthday gift from Kevin, and one of Cameron enjoying her porch residence where she spends most of her time on construction days!DSC_0421 DSC_0417 _20140725_214549 DSC_0469

DSC_0123Finn remains a happy go lucky boy these days, even with the house all torn up and most things out of place. Above he is grabbing the airplane pull chain on his ceiling fan – it’s a father-son tradition that they do together every day. These pictures were taken on Father’s Day, it was one of the few times this week I took any photos other than the progress of the construction. DSC_0113 DSC_0115 DSC_0135 DSC_0126 DSC_0140 DSC_0145 DSC_0149 DSC_0153 DSC_0160

We had a yummy brunch after church out on the patio at Matt the Miller. We had the best seat in the house and all without a reservation 🙂 Sunday evening Kevin, Jim, Finn, and I headed to the Columbus Clippers baseball game. It was a beautiful night – the place was packed! IMG_20140615_122152088 IMG_20140615_182104540 IMG_20140615_182530334 IMG_20140615_200557307 DSC_0164 DSC_0172Debbie took Finn and Sammy to a concert at the local amphitheater in Powell this week. The boys loved the music and danced throughout the concert! They even stopped at Jeni’s Ice Cream for a sweet treat afterward! Debbie has been a real trooper through this destruction and remodeling process. It certainly isn’t easy to be here with two very mobile boys when the place is a destruction zone! So they have enjoyed having picnic lunches at the park and visits to the zoo and pet store too. photo (29) photo (30) photo (28) photo (27)I’m not sure this is really considered a milestone, but Finn did have his first taste of peanut butter this week, in the form of a frozen Reese cup (Kevin’s favorite treat!). I was keeping Finn occupied in our room one evening and had a hankering for a snack, so I asked Kevin if he would bring up a frozen Reese Cup. As soon as Finn saw the package he said “mo mo”, which is funny considering he hadn’t had any yet! We decided to let him try it and he liked it, and even better that he didn’t seem to have any reaction to the peanut butter. It was actually a good thing that it was frozen as it made it easier for him to take a bite off and it didn’t melt in his hand as quickly!IMG_20140613_180829788 IMG_20140613_180850129In other fun Amy, Andy, and the kids came over on Saturday to check out our kitchen progress. We all headed to City BBQ for dinner and then to Graeter’s for ice cream afterward. Here are the cousins enjoying their treats. ice cream IMG_20140614_193520581The kitchen project continues and things are moving along nicely. This week Brett came up and helped install the drywall ceiling in the kitchen along with Kevin and Nik. They worked very late into the night, close to 2 am, to get it wrapped up. It looks really, really nice. The tile floor on the other hand is quite an undertaking to tear up. It seems the people who installed this original tile floor used Liquid Nail to secure the underlayment to the plywood sub floor. It is NOT an easy thing to get off. It is a tedious and time consuming project for the guys who are removing it. Kevin and his Dad set up our “temporary” kitchen, which includes the countertop with the sink and dishwasher that are fully plumbed and functional. We even have a working disposal and extra electrical outlet. Woohoo! And the range is functional also, though I’m not sure it will be getting much use. Sad, but true, we are regular carry-out folks these days. I think we are all tiring of the local options for food (at least I can say that I am!)DSC_0058 DSC_0061 DSC_0066 DSC_0074 DSC_0081 DSC_0086 DSC_0089 DSC_0091 DSC_0092 IMG_20140612_071538644 DSC_0093 DSC_0094 DSC_0096 DSC_0098 DSC_0107 DSC_0100 DSC_0103Our kitchen-ware has been moved to the office (aka the catch all for everything these days). We’ve set up a temporary microwave and have the essential dishware , silverware drawer, and Finn’s dry racks in there. DSC_0082 DSC_0083 In other news, I was fortunate to have my own private office created as a part of the office remodeling at Millcreek earlier this spring. My office is the former “server closet” that housed office supplies and the server and electronic equipment. The room was enlarged a bit and I got new office furniture and carpet.  And this week, I got a window! I now get a taste of the outdoors.  It is so nice to have natural light again! The project isn’t totally finished, but we are getting there.  Once the sanding and painting is complete I hope to do some decorating or at least hang some pictures on the wall!DSC_0068 DSC_0070 DSC_0072
