April 1, 2018 ~ 45 weeks

I’m going to attempt to catch up from a couple of months of blog posts that I haven’t had the time or taken the time to complete. Each year once spring starts to arrive it seems most things get put on hold! I constantly tell myself I’m going to get caught up and stay up to date with the blog but then at the end of the day I’m beat and don’t have the energy or mental frame of mind to spend more time on a computer!

Though Reid doesn’t look super happy here – he regularly gets held by his big brother and most times he likes it. There are certainly times he wants nothing to do with Griffin holding him, but other times Griffin takes him and walks around with him and he just giggles. It’s sweet to watch and Griffin adores being able to pick him up and love on him.
This week was Griffin’s spring break from NPCA and I was rather bummed that I was working all week. But as fate would have it, Debbie called off sick one day so I decided to stay home and have a fun day with the boys and I’m super glad I did. Finn and I went to the store for baking supplies and white eggs (as we always have brown) so we could dye easter eggs and making frosted sugar cookies. He had a great time getting his hands all colored and taste-testing the batter and frosting 🙂  And I enjoyed having a fun play time with him and having some coffee from my new bunny mug that Finn picked out for me.  Griffin is really in to feeding Reid. Pretty much anything to do with Reid. Some of it is so that he can get attention too, but, honestly he just loves to help and do things for Reid.  The beginnings of Finn’s basketball hoop were installed this week and a few days later the rest was set up. This boy is going to spend a ton of time (as if it could get more?) outside. He’s pretty stoked to be able to shoot hoops at any time and to be able to raise and lower the hoop by himself. We’ve been having fun playing 2 on 1 (typically boys against momma). We have a lot of fun and spend lots of time giggling.  Griffin and Reid had an adventure day this week with Debbie to COSI where they explored a lot of exhibits, painted, played with colors and enjoyed a nice lunch.  The end of the week Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong came to help watch the boys for a couple of days on Thursday and Friday while Debbie helped her mom recover after back surgery. They had lots of fun showing Grandma and Grandpa all their new tricks and skills.  Griffin has still been enjoying several of his new birthday toys and gifts,  including these dinosaur eggs that soak in water and then he digs for the dinosaur fossil located inside.
We headed up to Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein’s for Easter which included an Easter-egg hunt with the cousins, some time on the mule, and a quick stint at covering the greenhouse. Sadly  we never got it done in early winter so are doing things in reverse order this year and are covering in spring!
Amy took some great Easter photos after church on Sunday. Thankful to have these, she got some good ones!

And here are a couple videos of Reid showcasing his drumming skills and Finn shooting hoops.

This week was all about Easter and eggs! We had a fun Easter Egg hunt at our neighbor Brian’s house with a few of our other neighbors. The kiddos enjoyed hunting down the eggs in his backyard and afterward we had a nice cookout at Nate and AJ’s place. It is so nice to have kids in the neighborhood and neighbors that we enjoy spending time with!  While I was working on Saturday Kevin was quite brave and took Griffin along with all of the Manning girls to the Egg Drop at Liberty High School in Powell. It is a HUGE egg event organized by age groups. And for each age group a helicopter drops a bag of eggs from the sky. Those eggs are in addition to the 10,000 eggs already on the ground!!Griffin was spoiled with quite a deluxe easter basket. He got all kinds of candy, but also socks, wooden cars, a candy fan and other things. His facial expression when he came downstairs and saw it on the counter melted my heart.  Our front garden is looking really pretty right now with the creeping phlox blooming and the pretty flowers on our Rising Sun Redbud that we planted last year. And it is always one of my favorite weeks of the year when the viburnum blooms in our backyard near the patio and porch.  The sweet spicy smell is so lovely! And Griffin was outside enjoying and observing nature too!

Easter Sunday 2017 🙂

Griffin also had loads of fun coloring Easter eggs with Debbie this week.  Brutus continues to grow big! Check him out – from the day we got him (upper left) to this week (right) he continues to grow and is inching up on Griffin!

IMG_5216This week we had fun with all things Easter, including pictures with the Easter Bunny at Polaris Mall (followed by ice cream, of course) and several Easter Egg hunts too. We also explored the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in Mansfield during our weekend roadtrip.  We had fun exploring nature with Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein and the Bethune’s. DSC_0557-2 DSC_0568-2 IMG_5202 IMG_5206

And while on the nature hunt we also checked out Grandpa’s seedlings that we planted this past November.  They are looking quite healthy with lots of nice features including many with some nice red legs 🙂

IMG_5407 IMG_5409 IMG_5411 IMG_5413We snapped a quick cousins Easter photo after church. Later that afternoon we were invited to Easter Brunch at Mike & Laura Pilgrim’s new home this year. It was a pleasant afternoon with the kids playing together and yet another egg hunt all on top of a delicious meal. IMG_5433IMG_5464 IMG_5469 IMG_5479Griffin also had a fun afternoon at the Franklin Park Conservatory with Debbie and Sammy this week.  Always remember to slow down and smell the flowers!IMG_5180 IMG_5179 IMG_5178And while the weather ended on a warmer note this week – it was pretty cold earlier in the week and at Millcreek we ran the water to protect the plants that were outside already.  The water turns into ice which serves as an insulator to protect the plants from the low temperatures. It works really well!IMG_5145 IMG_5177And here Google put together a movie of my photos from the week.  I think perhaps I should just post one of these every week, ha!
