This week Kevin and I had fun with friends on a trip to see Chris Stapleton and Hank Williams Jr at Blossom Music Center. It had been planned for quite awhile to celebrate Chris Howards birthday and it was nice to hang out and have some fun after the recent passing of Chris’ dad. Six of us headed up for the night to hang and have some fun. We had lawn seats and as you’ll see – it poured rain for about 20 minutes just as we were parking in the grass lot. So, that meant quite a soggy experience and muddy feet (for me)! But the show was great and the company was lots of fun. Finn had a fun night with Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein! He and I headed there Friday morning and after I got picked up to head north, Finn and Papa did some hosta watering (or as it may have been – jumping in the mud puddles!). Grandma and Grandpa also built a cool tower almost as big as Finn! This is really only the second time we’ve left Finn for an overnight without us (ironically the last time was when he was 1 year old and that was at Mom and Dad’s too, when we went to see David Nail in concert in Medina – something about concerts and northern Ohio!).
Earlier in the week, Finn and I took our Lils to the vet specialist to have two of her teeth checked out at the recommendation of our Vet who did a dental cleaning a month or so ago. Turns out she had an upper large molar extracted and a lower molar root canal! She was a champ and Finn really enjoyed being able to take her in and hold her leash while we talked to Dr. Tom (who by the way, is an awesome vet). Walking in to his office in Hilliard is almost like walking through a tropical garden, apparently he has quite a green thumb.
The night we returned from Ocean Isle there was a huge rain storm that dumped a couple inches of rain. Our skylights in the loft have been leaking during large downpours for the last 6-12 months and this day it was even worse! I setup 4 cups to catch the rain water, and even worse it had begun leaking in the great room vaulted ceiling near our new light fixture! We’ve got roofers scheduled to come give estimates – a new roof can’t be avoided any longer as we also have a leak in the large guest bedroom near the wall to Finn’s room. Ugh – the joys of owning a home!
Here are a few other pics from our week: Finn wanted to help me clean, he had a nice bath (which is a treat for him as we usually have him shower!), and him scooping up the pepper seeds one night when I was making dinner. I’m attempting to be a better cook and make more dinners at home – this is not my gift, but dinner on this night was quite tasty!
On Saturday, after we returned from the concert, we spent the day and night in Mansfield to celebrate Rowan’s 5th birthday at the Infield in Lexington. It was a fun afternoon of video games and go cart riding – until the downpour arrived! Thankfully we were given vouchers to come back another time since we got rained out! So Sunday after church we headed back again for more go-carting and Finn’s first miniature golf experience. He did really well, but also got really frustrated at certain times as he just wanted to “do it by myself”. He did, however, get a hole in 1! You’ll see the photo where Kevin helped him tee off and he was SO excited his face is priceless.
Finn also wanted to take some photos this week so here are a couple of his – one of me and one of Kevin’s shoes!

Blueberries! Finn and I went on a Saturday adventure to another new-to-us blueberry farm, Berryfield, in Centerberg on Saturday. It was the best place yet! They were picking Elliot, so a later season more tart berry, but look at them! The bushes were big and quite plentiful. We picked more than a bucket in a fairly short amount of time. And they had “helper buckets” for kids and Finn loved it – he filled his up numerous times and dumped it into the bigger bucket. The farm only had a couple other people there and they played music you could here while picking (Nora Jones and the like). They also grow bluecrop, blueray, and coville though most of those were well picked over. We missed Daddy while he stayed home and worked on projects including cleaning out the garage – which he made great progress!
This week on my day off Finn and I went to Zoombezi for the day and met up with my college friend Kim, her three kids Audrey, Ryan, and Landon and Audrey’s friend Sara and her sitter Sydney. The older girls went off on the big slides so the boys, Kim, and I hung out and the family-oriented areas. It was super hot, the concrete burned our feet, and a great day to cool off in the water (although some of the areas the water was really pretty warm!).
Earlier in the week we took dinner to the Howard’s. Chris’ dad has entered hospice at Kobacker so we took some yummy food and hung out with the Howard’s, Chad, and Nicole for the evening at the Howard home. Finn loved playing with their dogs and crashed with them on the couch toward the end of the night.
Here are a few other shots from the week, including the new football Finn got at Culver’s by redeeming his “scoopie tokens”. He was super stoked. When Kevin and I have been going on date nights, he and Debbie often go to Culver’s for their “date” too 🙂 Afterward they stopped at the park to play with his new ball.
And here are a few others from the week: sprinklers and water fun in the yard, Columbus Commons kids fun day stuffs, art work, and a few from the Sunday concert (Honey and Blue) that I failed to include last week!
I’m loving the new album “Love Remains” by Hillary Scott (of Lady Antebellum) and the Scott Family. It is a christian album with traditional hymns and original songs. It’s really a great album!
And many thanks to Mom for splurging for me, Amy, and Mom to get our toes “beach ready” this week. We had a fun time getting our toes done and then having ice cream and fried pickles after at Graeter’s and City BBQ! Yum!
And now I”m officially caught up on blog posts – I thought this day would never come after being more than 2 months behind. Whew. Vacation ready now!!

Throw back to St. Patrick’s Day Parade and other shenanigans as I’m still playing catch up on our blog posts! Check out this handsome fella and his spirited St. Patty’s Day gear.
Finn loves to send Daddy off to work (“Downtown, Big City”) and this particular morning he was wearing Kevin’s bag and walking around the kitchen 🙂This week was my big birthday, my 40th, so I decided to take the day off work. I received a lovely flower arrangement from Mom and Dad, and also a colorful bouquet of roses from Jaime, Aaron, Lexi and Chase. My birthday was on a Wednesday, so I was able to take Griffin to school and pick him up. We had a fun day together, going to Target, the BMV to renew my plates, and of course a stop at Graeter’s for my free birthday treat (a delicious sundae!). Later that night Kevin and I went out to dinner at Cap City Diner, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and huge piece of chocolate cake. They have the most delicious vegetable plate and I devoured it 🙂 When we got back home I opened the lovely gifts from Finn and Kevin. Finn went shopping with daddy to get blush for me, and Kevin had life-size canvases of Hailey and Cameron printed for me! They are super cool and we plan to put them in our Laundry room.
(Finn took this one of his leg, lol!)
In preparation for Finn’s birthday we got a pre-reading on how tall his is. He loves to measure himself (height and his feet – the special “tool” we use to see how tall he is).
This year we went to the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It was our first time going and it was a lot of fun! The weather was warm and sunny. And we got to see Cam and Cyd play in the Dublin Jerome Marching Band too!
I’m very grateful for my friend, Sarah, who insisted a celebration was in order for my 40th birthday. In all honesty I really didn’t care much about my birthday and certainly didn’t feel like celebrating. But as Sarah always does, she told me like it was and insisted it is time to turn a new leaf and celebrate. So she gave me the option of a dinner party at her house or a spa day with girlfriends. Whatever I chose, she would take care of all the planning. Kevin really wanted to have a party for me too, and I thought it would be nice to see all kinds of family and friends so Sarah graciously planned a dinner party at her house. It was a really enjoyable night, complete with the most delicious food based upon several of my favorite things (avacados, chicken salad, steak, salads, desserts, and such). It was a huge spread of food! And Kevin made sure I had a Bunny Cake! I’m really grateful to be surrounded by loving friends and family! Believe it or not, we didn’t take a single people-picture the entire night. What?? Only pictures of food…crazy, but here it is!
We ended the week with dinner with the Howards and Ackerman families. It was a Sunday evening and we basically had the place to ourselves!
In other adventures this week, Finn made some yummy shamrock sugar cookies with Debbie (that we took to the parade!), went to the zoo, and the music park!
