Hello blue eyes! We’ve had a pretty calm week around here this week until the weekend. Friday night excitement was for the boys to get hair cuts side-by-side at Sport Clips. Finn’s hair was cut a bit shorter than we intended, but it looks great and you can definitely see his eyes better. He sat in the chair like a perfect big boy. His stylist said she was the best little boy she had all day.
Saturday was full of fun domestic chores like cleaning the house and doing some laundry. But the night turned ever more fun when Jaime and Aaron came over for dinner and fun with their kids Lexi and Chase. Once Finn woke up from his nap (at 5:15 pm) the kiddos enjoyed lots of play time together before we sat down for a yummy steak dinner. It was so cute to watch the kids play, I think they had a pretty good time working at the tool bench, jumping on the coach, and playing with all of the toys downstairs.
Sunday afternoon we headed to Enon to visit with Kevin’s family and check out a potential house for Jim and Pat. Kevin, Brett, and Jim spent most of their time walking around inside and checking out potential renovation ideas and since it was so nice and “warm” out, Finn and I spent most of the time outside walking up and down the long driveway. And, of course, throwing rocks and playing with the sword (a nice long blade of pampas grass from the yard).
Griffin has been doing really well on the potty, usually going 2 or 3 times a day. Sometimes he’s interested, other times he’s not. We just kind of roll with his mood and don’t push it. His vocabulary continues to grow each day too, as do his opinions (“no Mama, no” and “self” have been common ones lately!). Here are a few others from the week. Donuts – always a favorite, reading with daddy in one of the many pairs of new jammies from cousins Graham and Roro (among other things, thanks Bethune’s!), and Friday night basketball practice with Lily and Cameron (this was before the hair cut!). Kevin snapped the last photo on our drive back from Enon, Finn and I were a bit sleepy!
Have a great week!

Finn ~ 18 weeks
Here we are again, another week gone by!
This week we had a couple of milestones: Finn’s 4 month birthday and his 4 month checkup! He is growing well. He is giving out a lot of smiles, blowing raspberries back at you, and turning over here and there. He often rolls to his side, right or left, when he sleeps. He continues to have great hand and eye coordination – putting everything in his mouth: toys, hands, feet, you name it. He now also removes his pacifier from his mouth and holds it in his hand and kind of waves it through the air. This is not such a good thing when he is tired and has his hands near his face! He often removes it and then gets fussy because he wants to have it in his mouth! We are working on letting him cry some, not a very fun thing for this momma or for his daddy. I know this is the window of opportunity for him to learn to sooth himself and develop good sleep habits, but it is hard for me to hear him sob and cry so hard sometimes. Ugh!
At his four month checkup the doctor said he looks excellent. He weighs 13 pounds, 10 ounces (12th percentile), is 25.5″ (63rd percentile) and his head is 42 cm (59th percentile). He is sleeping pretty well, but we are working on getting him on a more consistent pattern of sleep. He often sleeps 4, 5, 6, 7, or occasionally 8 hours at night but each night is a bit different. So I’m hoping that becomes a bit more regular. He takes fabulous naps during the day, usually a two hour nap first, followed by a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. At his checkup he had one oral vaccine and two shot vaccines, one in each thigh. He handled it like a champ and only cried for a few minutes.
Saturday was “date night” where we babysat the Bethune’s. Here are some fun photos of the cousin’s from the evening. They even all four laid down together for a quick minute – and I didn’t even ask them to (the older ones anyway!).
On Sunday we hosted a cookout for my college friends from OU, along with their hubbies and kiddos. We are getting to be a bigger group each year – 8 adults and 7 (and a half!) kids. It was a great afternoon of fun. All of the kids are growing up so fast. They played lots of games outside and we had way too much food to eat 🙂 Kevin was quite the grill master – we had ribs, burgers, hot dogs, and bahama mamas and plenty of other tasty things. It was good to catch up with everyone – it’s always a good time and I miss seeing these girls!!

Our Wedding Day!
We are so blessed to have had such a wonderful wedding day! We were surrounded by our families and friends and the day couldn’t have been more perfect!
Be forewarned – there are lots of photos here! Henry Photography did an excellent job capturing everything about the day.
Kevin and I (ok, mostly me!) wanted to do a “first look” so we could see one another and spend some special moments with each other in daylight, prior to taking our vows. It was a sunny, yet cool day. After our meeting on the roof-top terrace at the Renaissance Hotel we spent some time going around Columbus with our wonderful friends who joined us as our wedding party! And we were fortunate to have our friend, and pastor, Rev. James Kessler unite us in marriage!
How does it go – great minds think alike? Little did Kevin or I know we had very similar gifts to give one another. You see Kevin always joked about getting married wearing a kilt fashioned out of the Armstrong tartan. Since the kilt idea wasn’t going to happen my sister helped me come up with the idea of kilt “socks” that Kevin could wear with his tux. I was able to find a shop in Scotland (online of course) that would custom make the socks in the Armstrong tartan! I was really excited 🙂 Then, as a complete surprise to me, Kevin had the idea to have his dad present to me a sash, fashioned out of the Armstrong tartan and complete with the Armstrong coat of arms pin, at the beginning of the reception. I was floored and thought it was the perfect gesture to welcome me to the family!
We will let the pictures tell the rest of the story!
