This week began with a wonderful day on Sunday, my first Mother’s day! A mom to Finn, anyhow! Below is a photo of me, the girls, and Finn. In the morning before church, Kevin prepared a lovely waffle breakfast (aka “fancy pants”) and coffee. It was delish! We spent dinner time with a nice cookout at Amy and Andy’s. My parents were there too and we all enjoyed a nice afternoon together. [photo credit below to Amy 🙂 Hers are the really professional, bright looking ones!]
Finn may be going through a growth spurt as a couple of days early in the week he was eating every 2 1/2 hours almost to the dot. He followed those days by sleeping far more than usual. He has found his hands and loves to suck on them and stick his fingers in his mouth when he is awake and alert. He is up a fair bit during the day, he just doesn’t seem to want to sleep a lot. Even though he doesn’t sleep a ton he is a happy guy!
He has had a bit of congestion and a stuffy and snotty nose this week too. On Wednesday night we went out for dinner to our spot in Powell. It was a warm 80 degree night, even at 8 pm when we arrived, and we sat on the patio. I think we had our little man dressed a bit too warmly as he became fussy toward the end. Once we got home he was inconsolable for a good 5 minutes, which when you are listening to your little one wail seems like an eternity. Ugh, he turned pretty pale, which freaked me out as I would think he would be flushed, so we gave him a bath once he calmed down to help soothe him a bit. I was a nervous momma that night!
Yesterday was Finn’s 2 month checkup! Dr. Hout said he checks out great! He weighed in at 10 lb 10 oz (12th percentile), 23.25″ (in the 70’s percentile), and 39.2 cm head circumference (51st percentile). I was pretty surprised by his weight gain as I had figured he would be more in the 11 pound range – he is getting heavy to hold! He had an oral vaccine and one shot in each thigh. Poor little guy was congested too so he had a rough morning and slept a lot of the afternoon while being babysat by Grandma Beilstein. Mom and dad came down to help us pickup large shrubs using dad’s truck and muscles! We have a fun landscaping project ahead this weekend. More on that next week… We wrapped up the evening with a nice dinner at City Barbecue!
He enjoys tummy time in small doses! He can really hold his head up there as you can see in these photos. Though he gets frustrated after about 5-10 minutes, especially if it is around time for a nap. I’ve learned it’s not best to do tummy time to close to a feeding!
