The boys had fun this week being outside at the park, on walks, and doing the fun volcano experiment. Reid loved the swing at the park and Griffin gets really excited to push him and be a helper.
Look at the matchy-matchy socks and jammies. Griffin was so excited when I found pjs in Reid’s size that matched his newer dino jammies. And then we found socks too, lol. Griffin is still really in to his day of the week underwear and socks. Every day he asks what day it is and finds them in his drawer (usually the night before) and gets all matched up.
There have been a few times I’ve been in disbelief how much food that Reid eats during the day! I can’t ever seem to get Reid to eat much for me and one particular day Debbie put how much he ate and I was shocked! He is definitely a growing boy! He hums and reaches for something you might have or more of something he had on his plate.
Griffin and I took an evening adventure to Graeter’s one evening – complete in his jammies! He was so excited to go and at first in my head was thinking he would have to change into clothes and then I thought, why? Why be so perfect and have so many rules? So out we headed in our comfies to get some yummy ice cream. This boy sure has my sweet tooth.
We got a new seat for Reid which is much like the one we had for Griffin though this one comes with a tray. At first I didn’t think I’d like the tray, but as it turns out it’s really nice to have something clean that we can put his food on and it has a cup holder which he thinks is great.
This year on picture day for Flag Football they had a new digital format – each player got their photo taken in front of a green sheet (the coaches too) and then they photoshopped the team photo together. I was not a fan of this new method at all! We’ll see how the end product turns out.
Our sweet Brutus is always wanting affection. He regularly comes to me and just puts his head down on the bed, on my leg, on the chair, or wherever I am and just wants some lovin. And Lily regularly heads to the closet in our bathroom to her small camp-out spot. Especially if there is loud noises or any sort of package being opened. Somehow she became scared to death of popping bubble wrap or ripping tape off packages!

To say I’m behind is an understatement! Today is July 1st and I am trying to catch up back to our April posts! Yikes!! But here goes at my attempt to recollect our weeks of spring. It’s rather fitting, actually, as spring is often so busy with work and long days that all of a sudden it is summer.
This weekend we celebrated Greta’s 3rd birthday at Franklin Park Conservatory (well, the family did – I got stuck at work and arrived just before it was time to leave 🙁 ). It was a really warm afternoon and the kiddos had fun. Afterwards we headed back to the Bethune’s for dinner, cake, and presents. The theme this year was butterflies, can you tell? Kevin has a lot more photos on his phone, so I’ll have to add more here once I get them from him 🙂
Finn had fun during the week this week too with science experiments, a visit to Franklin Park Conservatory with Debbie, a trip to Graeter’s (with Lily!), and playing outside. He’s an awesome helper in the garden. One afternoon he wanted to water the plants, so he grabbed his watering can, moved a chair over to the kitchen sink, filled it up, and went out to water the plants. Take note that he’s fully prepared with his gardening gloves and hat 🙂 He’s loving his “new” helmets from the Bethune’s!
Kevin and Finn devised a nice paper funnel to plant some bean seeds in our mason jar. It worked really well – we will see how our little beans grow. Our other seedlings are off to a good start, just a week or so after planting.
Finn and Daddy also built a nice Lincoln Log house.
Oh, and some fun with lip balm!
Bunny, Dog Dog, and Doggie blanket are staples around here 🙂
And this week Sarah asked me to go to a fundraiser for an organization started by one of her friends. It was held at Dock580, where Kevin and I were married, so it was a bit nostalgic being there. I don’t think we’ve been back since our wedding. Sarah and I took a selfie of ourselves on the lawn where our wedding tent was.
And once again, Google put together a pretty good summary of our week!

We’ve had more of our usual activities this week including lots of play time inside, artwork, and Swim Lessons! We are going to be taking a bit of a break from lessons here soon and I recently asked Finn’s teacher when they move to a different class. I learned that when they turn 3 they move on to the class with just their teachers – no parents! What?! I was so sad as I really enjoy our time in the water each week. 🙁 And as we have some lessons to make up before our last lesson (or you lose them) we’ve been going twice a week for the last few weeks.
One new activity we tried out was Family Ice Cream Night – where we made our own Vanilla Ice Cream – one batch with mini chocolate chips and the other plain. It was delish!
On Friday night we had an enjoyable family night out starting with pizza at Mellow Mushroom before we headed to the movie theater to see the Peanuts flick. Finn enjoyed it, and the popcorn too of course. Afterwards we went next door to the pet store (it’s one of Finn’s most favorite things to do is go play with the puppies and hold the animals and give the pups “pepal (special) treats”. Tonight we played with a fun and spunky husky.
We ended our night with a sundae at the main Graeter’s, which is conveniently across the street from the movie theater! Finn loved that this location has an indoor playground.
And here is Finn’s balloon from the balloon lady at Mellow Mushroom: in honor of heading to see the movie, she made him Snoopy!
Here is our monkey on the way to swim lessons.
And another shot of him showing his excellent balance skills.
We celebrated Andy’s dinner with the whole family down at Milestone 229. We had a delicious dinner and a nice night 🙂 Earlier in the afternoon mommy and Finn were making Rice Krispy treats and had an accident with the hot pan of marshmallows. Finn burned his hand pretty good – but he was a real trooper getting his hand all bandaged up. It finally snowed this week too, so the crew headed outdoors for a little fun in the snow and ended with hot cocoa and ice cream!
And here are a couple shots of art in the making this week.
