Family skate at Graham’s 6th birthday party at the Dublin Chiller! This was Finn’s first time on skates (and the first time in a long time for me and Kevin). It was lots of fun! We skated for maybe 40 minutes before enjoying pizza and cake. I’ve included the series of group photos at the end of the party – Finn likes to put on a show once he’s warmed up to the crowd. Can you tell?
Ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream. Or in this case, custard. There’s no such thing as too much, is there?

I’ve been putting off composing this post as it’s hard to recall the events of the last week and a half. To put it mildly, the last ten days have been hard. Kevin and I went to our 20 week appointment on Friday, May 15th anticipating another regular appointment with good news of progress with our son that we’re expecting 10/2/15. And then, in an instant our world was changed when the doctor gave us the devastating news. The anatomy ultrasound revealed our son has several devastating and life threatening complications. Our doctor made an appointment for us a short time later with a specialist so we could better understand what was going on. We had another ultrasound with the specialist along with an amniocentesis in order to help us gather more information. It was a long two-day wait before we got any initial results. Sadly, those results indicated that our son has Trisomy 18, and is not expected to live. Each day is hard. My emotions are all over the place. My worst nightmare is unfolding and I only wish we could wake up and this would not be a reality. But that is not the case. We are thankful for the support so many of our family and friends have shown to us. We covet your prayers and are thankful for your support.
On a lighter note, we were able to celebrate Graham’s 5th birthday party at a lovely park in Dublin, one that we hadn’t been to before. It was so much fun with several musical instruments to play, buildings to play in, and automobiles to drive. Finn had a blast – just check out the videos. Not only does he have musical skills, he also is a pretty talented dancer 🙂
On our way to the party Finn snapped what I will label his first official selfie. Not bad, eh?
Finn also helped me plant some more outdoor planters on the patio on Sunday. He loves putting on my gloves and playing with the shovel (or in this case my pruners). If I could only find some toddler-sized gloves that would fit him!
And another of my favorites of watching our little boy sleep with all of his cuddly friends.

Check out Finn, liking the outdoor exploration at Grandma and Grandpa’s! We headed to Mansfield on Mother’s Day for a nice afternoon of walking around the yard and hanging out together. All of the kids had fun running about and going back and forth over the bridge. It was a nice, sunny afternoon which was a welcome change!
The week was a blur for me, up until Saturday, when we headed over to Amy and Andy’s to celebrate Graham’s 4th birthday. Where does the time go? I remember heading to Michigan the day Amy texted to say she was in the beginning stages of labor, now Graham is an energetic and lovable 4 year old! Amy put together quite a lovely ocean-themed party complete with cute foods including a homemade fish cake. And there were plenty of photo opportunities in the cute red boat!
Here are some of Amy’s photos of Finn too 🙂
On the project updates: Kevin is continuing to work on taking down the walls in the kitchen and determining what needs to be moved from within the existing walls and where it can go! We’ve also been tossing around ideas for cabinet colors and the layout of where everything will go – any and all feed back is welcome 🙂 And as if we didn’t have enough projects going, this year we wanted to have some veggie gardens and this weekend Kevin began building them! We may be getting in over our heads, but I’m excited to have a veggie garden. I remember when mom and dad had a big veggie garden in the side yard growing up, and I love that Finn loves to touch plants and smell flowers. I take him in to the seedlings in the dining room a few times a week to check on how the plants are growing. I’m really excited to have a garden where he can watch fruits and vegetables grow! I also planted up some new planters for the patio. It’s beginning to look like spring around here! Now, if I can be home during some of the daylight hours to enjoy it. Not to worry, I’m hoping that beginning this week things are on the downswing at work!
