img_9324Look who got to bring home the class mascot this week! Finn was so excited to bring home Tony the Tiger from his class. We had an action packed weekend weekend and Tony was able to join us on our adventures!

Tony’s first adventure was to help Finn make dinosaur fossils with Debbie and Sam. It looked like quite a fun baking experience. img_9326 img_9328Next up was a bike ride through our neighborhood followed by ice cream at Graeters and plenty of snuggles. Yum!img_9331 img_9333 img_9337On Saturday we went on a road trip to pick apples at Apple Hill with Mom and Dad. It was a warm and sunny afternoon, a perfect day to be outside! And once again, Lily was able to join us. This girl is getting to be pretty spoiled!img_9340 img_9341 img_9345 img_9346 img_9352 img_9354 img_9359 img_9361 img_9367 img_9376 img_9387 img_9381 img_9397 img_9399 img_9403 img_9407 img_9412 img_9417 img_9419Afterwards we decided on a whim to stop for dinner at the Buckeye Diner, which is just off Rt 97 exit of 71. The restaurant is an old train that has been converted to a diner. We all had burgers and fries and played around a bit outside before heading home. img_9427 img_9435 img_9438 img_9441Sunday was yet another beautiful day and our adventures took us to our annual trip to the New Albany Classic. It was WARM and sunny. The layout was a bit different this year so all of the inflatables were in the sunshine, which made it nice yet very hot! Tony the Tiger got to meet princesses and see some horse-jumping. One of Finn’s favorite parts was new this year. They had a Hollywood exhibit that showcased costumes and apparel from movies and shows. Batman, Spiderman, Ironman and many other characters outfits were there. The plants in this exhibit looked really cool this year, most of them were from Millcreek!img_9457 img_9458 img_9462 img_9464 img_9468 img_9470 img_9472 img_9478 img_9481 img_9484 img_9499 img_9505 img_9509 img_9510 img_9517And here are a few others from our week. Finn is getting to be really great using a knife for cutting. Here he wanted to help me cut onions for dinner and he did a fine job. Finn, Debbie, and Sam also ventured to Highbanks Metro Park this week where they explored nature and got their feet wet! And they made yummy pumpkin sugar-cookie cut-outs!img_9323 img_9321 img_9318 img_9315 img_9314

I’m loving my summer schedule! It involves working less and having more fun! This week Kevin went on a week-day trip with a couple of friends to Chicago, so I figured I would take a couple of days off to spend with Finn. We had lots of fun and adventures including a trip to Mansfield (a post Father’s Day trip) and yet another day at Zoombeezi.  I love that we can go to Zoombeezi for the whole day or a few hours since it is so close Finn has fun and it wears him out!

Finn and I surprised Mom and Dad with our trip to Mansfield. Dad was busy planting hostas, so Finn helped him finish up by doing some watering. Then Mom, Finn, and me headed to the Carousel Park and rode around a few times. We also shopped at a few new (to me) shops in downtown Mansfield and hit up the local coffee shop for an afternoon treat, yum! Later that night Dad and Finn played some baseball. I’ve included a video that just gives me the giggles. Finn is at a state where he sometimes listens and sometimes is pretty defiant – but he listened really well when my dad gave him the signal for a “changeup”. You’ll hear me giggle in the video. IMG_7054 IMG_7056 IMG_7057We had a fun pillow fight too. IMG_7059 IMG_7061 IMG_7070 IMG_7073 IMG_7075 IMG_7078 IMG_7079 IMG_7081 IMG_7085 IMG_7086 IMG_7099 IMG_7109 IMG_7111 IMG_7112Dad had put out a lot of the plant markers we gave him for his birthday too – I took these photos to send to Kevin while he was on his trip :).

The Wednesday that Kevin was returning there was a really big storm predicted – starting basically in northern Illinois and moving toward Ohio (essentially following Kevin home!). I was really worried as there were tornadoes associated with the storms and they were projecting huge winds during the night after he arrived home.  Thankfully, no tornadoes near them during their drive and they all arrived home safe and sound. And of course, we made Daddy some of his favorite chocolate chip cookies to welcome him home.  IMG_7125 IMG_7126IMG_7133On Friday we went to the annual Powell Festival and met up with a couple of our neighbors. We had fun listening to live bands, enjoying the food trucks, and Finn loved the kids zone play area. IMG_7162 IMG_7165 IMG_7171 IMG_7176 IMG_7185 IMG_7186 IMG_7191

On Saturday we headed to Lowe’s for the “Iron Man” kids workshop. Then up to Mansfield for Mom and Dad’s annual Hosta Sale. It was a nice and warm day, so Finn basically put his suit on and played in a small bucket of water.  It doesn’t take much! Finn was assisting with sales too, when one customer was looking for a yellow one, he took it over to her to show it to her.  Starting him early! After the sale was over we helped them pack it all up and put the plants away. Then we headed out to dinner and stayed in the air conditioning!IMG_7192 IMG_7201 IMG_7205 IMG_7219 IMG_7230 IMG_7232 IMG_7234 IMG_7237 IMG_7242 IMG_7244 IMG_7246And even though we are already well into summer, this year we’ve been talking about putting together a bucket list of summer time activities. So one morning I wrote it all out – we’ve got fun plans ahead!IMG_7157

Well, this was a big week as Finn wrapped up his first year of pre-school as a Guppy! He really enjoyed school this year. He like going to the “muscle room” to play, the art work, being around the other kids. Yikes, 8 months are gone in a flash. His last day was on a Wednesday, and fortunately, I was able to take the day off work. I took Finn to school, picked him up, and we headed downtown big city to have lunch with Daddy at our place Si Senor. We also walked around the city a bit and walked Daddy back to his work building. We explored around inside a bit too, there is a really nice atrium that connects the buildings, and Finn had an ice cream treat. IMG_6389 IMG_6399 IMG_6403IMG_6443 IMG_6407 IMG_6414 IMG_6415 IMG_6418 IMG_6423 IMG_6425 IMG_6428 IMG_6431 IMG_6433 IMG_6436 IMG_6438Earlier in the week Debbie was off for a couple of days, so my sister was kind enough to watch Griffin on Monday. She picked him up from pre-school, along with the other kiddos and they had a fun afternoon playing in bear-suits and being silly. My mom came down later that night and we had dinner and then headed to Graeter’s for dessert, of course! Then on Tuesday mom stayed home and played with Finn for the day. Super thankful our families are always helping us when we need it!IMG_6355 IMG_6356 IMG_6357 IMG_6361 IMG_6366 IMG_6368Tuesday was also Finn’s last soccer lesson for this session. He really loved running around and learning a bit about soccer. They also work on motor skills, listening, and various athletic skills too. Some of these photos are fuzzy, but they show him having fun nonetheless.  And at the last lesson Kevin went out and played a game of “sharks and minnows” at the end of the class.  It was a beautiful night so we celebrated with dinner on the patio at Liberty Tavern, where Finn likes to get his picture taken next to the Statue of Liberty. IMG_6370 IMG_6372 IMG_6376 IMG_6381 IMG_6383We’ve been playing outside a fair bit lately since the weather has been so nice. Finn was hitting balls off the tee and after a bit we decided to pitch to him.  He has a really solid swing (and an accurate throw for his age too!) and made contact several times with the ball. I took a video and he missed the ball the first video I shot, so I figured I would take another.  And here is what happened:

Kevin was fine, Finn was pretty concerned and stood there like a statue for a minute until we told him it was OK and that Daddy was fine. For the next several night during prayers Finn would pray “thank you for Daddy not getting hurt and next time maybe he covers his face or gets out of the way”. We’ve considered submitting to America’s Funniest Home Videos…… 🙂
