Check out our little exercise man! I’ve been doing P90x3 for a couple of months now and Griffin has taken to my yoga mat pretty well. He loves to exercise with me – and man is his core strong. Oh to be young again, lol! This particular day I put him down for a nap. I had been checking in on him using the video monitor as I could tell he wasn’t falling asleep. About halfway through my workout I hear “Momma, I done sleeping”, so I yelled up and asked him to come down and lay on the couch and rest while I finished. That lasted about 10 minutes and for the last 5 or so of the video he got down on the floor and exercised with me 🙂 He is also really great at push ups!
When I do my workout videos in the family room, I usually have an audience of Lily and Cameron. It has certainly been a very emotionally taxing time for our family over the last couple of months, and weeks, in particular. Cammie’s health (really her tail) wasn’t improving and we made the very painful decision to say goodbye to her this week. It is such a hard thing to do, this girl has been through all the ups and downs of life with me and our family for as long as I can remember. And as I said in our post about her, she was a sweet yet stubborn and sassy girl. We miss her (and the sound of her beating her tail) a lot and Finn regularly talks about how she is up in “heben” (heaven) chasing balls.
Finn and Sammy ventured outside this week and built Frosty, complete with a hat and gloves!
And quite a mess of his books:
And some snuggles (or smothers!) with Lily:
And a simple mommy and son dinner one night. I’ve told some of you this before, but I originally bought the Fruity Pebbles (although they are the ALDI brand) cereal for me. However, it quickly became Finn’s cereal of choice and he asks for it by calling it “colored” cereal. This particular night I had the “adult” cereal and Finn had the “colored” cereal. About halfway through he said “let’s trade”. So sure enough, I got the “colored” cereal. Yum, lol!
And this weekend included a boys adventure to Enon, where Finn and Daddy enjoyed lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa, checking out the progress on their new house. Kevin used the warm day to empty out a storage unit from back in his single days :). An extra special treat was the warm, sunny, and windy weather which made for a nice afternoon at the park that is right down the road from Grandma and Grandpa’s new house! Joe went along for the ride too. Joe, you know, Finn’s scooter. He pretends he is a horse and when he’s finished riding him he puts him back in the barn for the night. Oh, and he does his business outside in the yard, like Lily. This boy – his imagination is non-stop!
While the boys had their fun, I spent the afternoon hanging out with my college girl friends Amy, Jaime, and Kim. We basically hopped from restaurant to restaurant, from Dublin to Easton, and back to Dublin. We enjoyed catching up on each others lives, kids, spouses, and such. And it was a treat to be able to enjoy the nice and unseasonably warm weather. Though we don’t see each other as often as we would like, we always have fun when we get together!

August 16, 2015 – Vacation!
We had a lovely vacation this summer with my family at our traditional stomping grounds in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. The weather was nice and sunny every day except for one afternoon when it stormed. It was perfect weather for the beach where we spent several hours each day in the water, playing in the sand, and having picnic lunches. Once we arrived at the beach Finn rarely sat down. He constantly ran back and forth from the water to our sand play area with buckets of water, which he dumped immediately and then ran back for more. He love it. He is at a great age for playing at the beach. He went out in the water with daddy, and Grandpa and Grandma many times (despite my worry of sharks!). He really wanted to let go and be the first to catch each wave. He kept telling Papa and daddy to go out further!
Here is the beginning of our trip. We hit the road by 7:30 am – I was impressed we met our goal departure time 🙂 Finn is all cozy in his pj’s with his fuzzy blanket and animals, and of course his sunglasses. Our first stop: Tim Horton’s, for some doe doe’s, of course!
Guess who we ran in to at our first pit-stop at the Tamarack exit in Beckley, WV! I had missed a text message that they were going to be stopping there and we were getting ready to leave when Kevin spotted mom and dad walking nearby in the parking lot!?
Our first night we spent in Durham and ventured out for some ice cream after dinner. (top photo compliments of Amy!).
As tradition has it, we stopped for lunch at Sharky’s once we arrived in Ocean Isle Beach. It was perfect timing and we enjoyed a yummy pizza, sweet potato fries, and chicken! While we were waiting to check in at our house we enjoyed some time outside on the deck.
Once we arrived at the house it was full on play mode followed by an evening trip to the water after dinner. It was a beautiful sunset that evening. And the days that followed were pretty much wake up, eat, beach, eat, nap, eat, sleep, repeat!
Cousins in matching new vacation pajamas!
Daddy and Finn are about to get a big splash!
Dad took a photo of me,
Trying to take a photo of them doing this:
But they were moving a bit too fast for my phone/camera…..so here is a better look:
Finn and RoRo spent lots of time sharing the chairs.
This is what Finn looks like after a day at the beach 🙂
And if you can’t tell by the smirk on his face, this is him pretending to sleep. He’s snoring too. We had a nice family dinner overlooking the water. We were able to watch the sun set and capture a family selfie.
Graham was posing with a fabulous smile, asking me to take his photo in these! Such a handsome boy.
G and Finn having some fun chats.
Dad took these next two – good ones!
Grandma and Grandpa spent lots of time on the floor building really cool trucks, cars, towers and such with the new magnetic set they brought for the kiddos.
It’s always fun to play with the couch pillows…..where’s Grandpa?
Hitting the big waves with Grandma and Grandpa!
Heading out with Papa and Daddy.
Snack time: rainbow goldfish and drinks! Uncle Andy had them each sit on a pillow 🙂
And this photo is right before we departed for home, at about 6:45 in the morning on Saturday!
Can anyone find Finn? His keepsake this year was a large stuffed turtle – you know, it was the year of the turtle with the ride and all.
And here are many lovely family photos that Amy took, not that you couldn’t have sensed the focus and quality is far better than mine – but wanted to give credit where credit is due! Check out the crazy reflections in the sand and water!
Amy treated us to another family photo session on the beach this year. We are so fortunate to have her share her gift of photography with our family. When we arrived at the parking lot to head out to the beach we realized there were turtles to see! Amy was able to capture that too 🙂 There are several awesome photos – I can’t wait to get some prints!
May 31, 2015
It was really nice to have a long weekend! We began our Monday by making our 3rd annual trip to the Powell Memorial Day Parade. This year we got a nice spot on North Liberty Street. We took our wagon and chairs and had nice seats. Griffin got plenty of candy too – I think every person that walked by threw a handful at him! He’s very cautious when going into the street to get the candy too. And at the end the policeman got out of his cruiser and photo bombed us! Later that afternoon we spent some time in the backyard. Finn was feeling pretty adventurous climbing up the ropes of the hammock along with running to see Lily.
Always wanting to do what daddy is doing….
We had a peacock in our yard this week! Finn and I ran inside to get my phone so we could snap some photos. We were within 8 feet of our bright blue friend.
Finn and I went out together for dinner on National Hamburger Day – to Culvers, of course! My little stink bug also loved helping me with my caramel cashew concrete mixer. Mmm.
Grandma watched Finn on Friday, and as you can see, they had lots of fun. She brought him Krispy Kreme do do’s for breakfast. He was so happy and goofy at 7:30 in the morning!Saturday morning daddy brought Finn breakfast in our room. None other than some dodo’s that grandma had brought the day before! He was in heaven. And he didn’t want to have his jammies on either – when I went in to get him he was half undressed and kept saying he didn’t want to wear his jammies, he wanted to be “nu nu”.
Here is Finn taking a selfie on Saturday morning 🙂 And here he is getting some good exercise with Lily. The dogs haven’t had their “blue ball” in quite awhile!
Saturday we spent the afternoon on a last minute trip to COSI, having fun with Graham, Rowan, and Greta.
Daddy wasn’t able to join us since this is the weekend they are “cutting over” to the upgrade that Kevin has been working on for months. Monday is the go-live date so all weekend long the transition is occurring which means he is frequently on the phone getting updates and dealing with whatever may come up. Here Finn and Rowie are sitting together and behind them is the building Kevin’s project is based out of (the tall one in the center!). Kind of cool!
Daddy was able to meet us for dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse, and by the time we had just left the parking lot – Finn was asleep! He hardly ever sleeps in the car! And he went to bed at 7 pm – super early, but he hadn’t had a nap today. It was a full day!
