DSC_1080Look at that cute smile and those eyes! I think Finn is going to have a couple more teeth within the next week or so as he has been chewing anything, he can (balls, toys, carrots, apples, you name it) and especially today he has had a really runny nose. And nap time has been a bit irregular this past week too – he is quite tired and wants to go “nigh nigh” but then he will lay in his bed and babble for an hour or two if you let him!

We are thankful for our friends who hosted us for dinner the last few days. We are so looking forward to having our kitchen back together and making some home cooked meals! We spent Friday evening with the Manning’s enjoying a lovely cookout. Finn loved taking in all of the play time with 5 girls! Unfortunately, we didn’t snap too many photos during our visit – but there is one of Finn demonstrating his cookie monster skills and another with Samantha in the backyard swinging.  Saturday evening the Ackerman’s invited us over for a lovely dinner as well. W and E wanted to bob for apples, so Finn thought that was pretty funny – and just pulled one out with his hands and started eating it! I think it felt pretty good on his teeth. After dinner everyone kicked around the soccer ball – it was a SUPER humid and warm evening. Finn was a little sweat box, and since he had soaked his shirt with the apple “bobbing” he went shirtless the rest of the evening 🙂cookie_monster swinging IMG_20140823_183541774 IMG_20140823_183810382 IMG_20140823_183831772 IMG_20140823_182839427-EFFECTS IMG_20140823_195019530 IMG_20140823_194740460 IMG_20140823_194916018Saturday morning Kevin and I took Finn to his first “Build and Grow” activity at Lowe’s. They periodically have these kid’s activities on Saturday mornings where they build something – and they are totally free (you just have to pre-register online)! The kids get an apron, name tag, and a hammer that they bring back each time the return for an activity. The activity changes each time. Then they receive a little patch that can be ironed on the apron. Finn and Daddy made a robot puppet! You can tell, even though it was a brief 15 minute activity, he was ready for nap time by the end 🙂DSC_1120IMG_20140823_100318345 DSC_1083 DSC_1085 DSC_1088 DSC_1095 DSC_1100 DSC_1105 DSC_1107 DSC_1115 DSC_1117 DSC_1128Sunday was a fun filled day too. First up, the Next Step Sunday at NPC. Finn got his first “tatoos” at the Children’s table with the help of E (a doggie, and pictured here, a dragon). Later that afternoon we gathered to celebrate cousin Rowan’s 3rd birthday!  It was a steamy and humid afternoon at Homestead Park, but Finn had a blast wondering around and playing with all of the kids (and there were a TON of them, only part of them are in the birthday cake photo!). His favorite part was going on the “ride” in the wagon!IMG_20140824_113216846 IMG_20140824_113250195_HDR IMG_20140824_113321542 DSC_1147 DSC_1149DSC_1145 DSC_1142 DSC_1139 DSC_1138 DSC_1157 DSC_1150 DSC_1161 DSC_1155 DSC_1153IMG_20140824_184847769 DSC_1162 DSC_1163 DSC_1171 DSC_1173 DSC_1174Remodeling update: the kitchen island countertops are complete! Yay! They were finished on Friday, and Saturday Kevin was able to set and connect the induction cooktop. The perimeter counters were brought on Friday as well, but the color at the seems and between pieces just wasn’t going to cut it (per Kevin and the installers) so they took them back to the shop (AGAIN) and Kevin made two trips there on Friday to select new pieces from which they will re-cut the entire perimeter.  Ugh.  Painstaking process! The caulking for the laundry room sink, family room bar sink, and the pantry was completed as well. We are making progress. Hopefully the remaining counters will be completed this week and once they are set the appliances will be installed. We are also waiting on some remaining cabinet parts and trim to arrive to complete the cabinetry part of the project.  On Monday we met with an interior designer to help us pick out colors and pull everything together. We were able to pick out our main kitchen/family room/hallway color, the powder bathroom color, a new laundry room color, and a color for the office.  On Wednesday and Thursday I painted the bathroom and on Friday the toilet was installed (though there is a small leak that needs fixed).  I’ll put a photo of that up next week as I haven’t taken one yet!DSC_1135 DSC_1136 DSC_1132 DSC_1133

DSC_0431This boy loves to dance! We have this Pandora radio on the back stairs landing and it is Finn’s favorite thing to go turn up the volume and then just start dancing (deece – as he calls it). DSC_0429 DSC_0457DSC_0465He is also getting very good at pointing out all of the parts of his head – hair, eyes, mouth, teeth, and as you’ll see below, ears and nose (lol).  We’re working on the tapping of the nose rather than inserting the finger 🙂DSC_0452DSC_0447This week we watched Kevin play at his weekly softball game. There were a ton of other young kids there too and Finn liked exploring so many new toys. Finn loves to crawl all around the bed in his room when it’s time to put on his pj’s. He just says “nu nu” (for naked baby) and dive bombs the pillows.  It’s pretty cute. And he absolutely loves to help clean the wood floors (good thing, I’m thinking!). DSC_0404 DSC_0405IMG_20140724_212629515 IMG_20140724_212805337DSC_0410 DSC_0408Wednesday I took the day off for a play date at the Powell Sprinkler Park, however, the weather didn’t quite cooperate as it was raining all morning. Instead, we headed to Magic Mountain indoor play area near Polaris and had fun meeting up with friends and watching Finn enjoy the new atmosphere.  He absolutely loves balls, so he was in heaven when we arrived to a floor full of them. IMG_20140723_101201981 IMG_20140723_114216642 IMG_20140723_104636900

We’ve had a successful week of picking out granite for the counters as well as hardware for the cabinets and drawers. We visited a granite supplier we heard about when visiting the Parade of Homes.  Good thing Kevin didn’t listen to me when I uttered on our way there “why can’t we just go where we’ve already been and narrow our choices down from what we already like?”.  Ha! Then we would have missed the yearly “Parade of Homes Sale” which turned out to be really good timing. Juparana Cathedral (in the top two photos with the kitchen cabinet face) is what we picked for the kitchen and island countertops. It has a lot of brown that picks up the brown in the cabinet. The third photo, is what we picked for the first floor bathroom, Santa Silvia.  Actually looking at them here they look alot alike, but in person they don’t seem quite so similar. The cabinet installers were here on Friday to begin putting the cabinets together and they will begin hanging them on Monday.  The dark cabinet in the pictures is the vanity for the bathroom. And the flooring is nearing the end with only a portion of the dining room, front foyer, and office remaining. IMG_20140725_142238437 IMG_20140725_143209796 IMG_20140725_144453870_HDRDSC_0422 DSC_0423 DSC_0424 DSC_0425 DSC_0426And here are a few other shots from the week: Finn riding in his car seat (the second photo he is making his purposeful, eye squinting face that I find hilarious), one from the Lady Antebellum concert Friday night at the State Fair, a birthday gift from Kevin, and one of Cameron enjoying her porch residence where she spends most of her time on construction days!DSC_0421 DSC_0417 _20140725_214549 DSC_0469
