To say I’m behind is an understatement! Today is July 1st and I am trying to catch up back to our April posts! Yikes!! But here goes at my attempt to recollect our weeks of spring.  It’s rather fitting, actually, as spring is often so busy with work and long days that all of a sudden it is summer.

This weekend we celebrated Greta’s 3rd birthday at Franklin Park Conservatory (well, the family did – I got stuck at work and arrived just before it was time to leave 🙁 ). It was a really warm afternoon and the kiddos had fun. Afterwards we headed back to the Bethune’s for dinner, cake, and presents. The theme this year was butterflies, can you tell? Kevin has a lot more photos on his phone, so I’ll have to add more here once I get them from him 🙂IMG_5709 IMG_5705IMG_5789 IMG_5714 IMG_5720 IMG_5721 IMG_5726 IMG_5787 IMG_5741 IMG_5753 IMG_5760 IMG_5762

Finn had fun during the week this week too with science experiments, a visit to Franklin Park Conservatory with Debbie, a trip to Graeter’s (with Lily!), and playing outside.  He’s an awesome helper in the garden. One afternoon he wanted to water the plants, so he grabbed his watering can, moved a chair over to the kitchen sink, filled it up, and went out to water the plants. Take note that he’s fully prepared with his gardening gloves and hat 🙂  He’s loving his “new” helmets from the Bethune’s!IMG_5670 IMG_5669

IMG_5784 IMG_5858 IMG_5859 IMG_5860 IMG_5856 IMG_5864 IMG_5792 Kevin and Finn devised a nice paper funnel to plant some bean seeds in our mason jar.  It worked really well – we will see how our little beans grow. Our other seedlings are off to a good start, just a week or so after planting. IMG_5831 IMG_5657 IMG_5682 IMG_5678 IMG_5679 Finn and Daddy also built a nice Lincoln Log house.IMG_5785 IMG_5875 Oh, and some fun with lip balm!IMG_5794 Bunny, Dog Dog, and Doggie blanket are staples around here 🙂 IMG_5786 And this week Sarah asked me to go to a fundraiser for an organization started by one of her friends. It was held at Dock580, where Kevin and I were married, so it was a bit nostalgic being there. I don’t think we’ve been back since our wedding. Sarah and I took a selfie of ourselves on the lawn where our wedding tent was. IMG_5694

And once again, Google put together a pretty good summary of our week!

photo(3)This little man is talking up a storm! Each night when we’ve gotten home from work this week Finn is the biggest chatter box. He is talking in such long sentences. Most of it is understandable and the way in which he applies concepts and phrases continues to amaze us.  This weeks favorite was while we were driving in the car and Finn pulled a straw out of his water cup. He happened to flick some water on Kevin’s face and he followed that up with “sorry dada, didn’t mean to, accident, no big deal”.  We both giggled 🙂

It’s been mostly work for Kevin and I this week so we’ve hung around the homestead in the evenings. Finn, however, has had an adventuresome week with Debbie heading to the pet store, Franklin Park Conservatory, the Zoo, and the bookstore! We’re so fortunate to have Debbie in our family. She’s full of adventure and fun and every week she plans such fun things to do! Here are a few photos (including easter egg’s from last week that I forgot!). photo photo(6) photo(2) photo(1) photo(5) photo(4) Our fun this weekend was cousin Greta’s 2nd birthday party! It was a lovely sunny afternoon and the birthday girl had a good time, as did Finn playing with all the kiddos and grandma and grandpa. They each made a rain stick (to go with the rainbow theme) to take home. DSC_0317 DSC_0320 DSC_0324 DSC_0325 DSC_0331 DSC_0332 DSC_0336 DSC_0341 DSC_0342 DSC_0343 DSC_0346 DSC_0356 DSC_0348 DSC_0350We also enjoyed a nice dinner with the Howards this week. Amid their kitchen being torn apart they made dinner for us – what great friends! They have loaned Finn two life sized books that come with animals to play with. It was a late night, I think Finn went to bed about 10 pm, but when we got home all he wanted to do was play with the animals!IMG_20150408_222116096 For the first time I saw a complete double rainbow this week at work! It was SO pretty, these pictures don’t nearly capture it!IMG_20150409_195725974 IMG_20150409_195657342_HDRAnd our veggies are doing great.  Finn likes to look at them with me each night and help water. We practice the names of the veggies too – he’s really good at saying zucchini!DSC_0359 DSC_0360 DSC_0361

DSC_1047It was finally a bit warmer this week and I got home at a good hour a couple of nights! Wednesday we went out for pizza and then played at the indoor play space. Finn went down the big slide with daddy and then later on his own. He thought it was pretty cool! The next night we headed for a walk in the neighborhood – here Finn is enjoying his first ride in his Radio Flyer wagon 🙂 Luckily I got home just before dark set in on Thursday so we were able to enjoy the outdoors for a brief ride. Finn was so happy! If we stopped the wagon he would start jiggling, as if he was telling us to keep moving! It was fun to venture outside of these four walls.IMG_20140409_202328963 IMG_20140409_202129716DSC_1031 DSC_1032 DSC_1035 DSC_1041 DSC_1042 DSC_1043 DSC_1049 Thankfully Finn’s appetite has returned. His ear infection seems to be gone, and he has his re-check on Monday. We’ve learned to not stretch things too far and feed him to close to when he’s tired as then he loves to just slide his food all around and then off his tray onto the floor.  Ugh! DSC_1076 DSC_1065Saturday was an action packed day for us! We woke up and headed to downtown Powell for the Community Easter Egg hunt. The lawn was covered in eggs and the areas were broken up into age groups.  It was fun to watch Finn and the other young kids pickup eggs. Finn was pretty interested in eating the plastic egg once he picked it up! After the egg hunt we went to our local Powell branch of the Delaware County Library.  I can’t remember the last time i was in a library, and this one is literally less than 5 minutes from our house! So we signed up for a library card and checked out our first book “Tickle”. It was a nice morning so we walked to the park, adjacent to the library, and played for a few minutes before heading home to nap!DSC_1106 DSC_1110 DSC_1117 DSC_1121 DSC_1128 DSC_1148 DSC_1151 DSC_1155 DSC_1156 DSC_1157 DSC_1160 DSC_1165 DSC_1170 DSC_1171 DSC_1173 DSC_1175 DSC_1179 DSC_1184 DSC_1191 DSC_1194 DSC_1222 DSC_1228 DSC_1239 DSC_1244 DSC_1248 DSC_1250 DSC_1256 DSC_1265 DSC_1266 DSC_1273 DSC_1281After nap time – it was party time for cousin Greta’s first birthday! We spent a nice afternoon enjoying lots of yummy food, cake, and a house full of kiddos. Finn was so tired at one point I tried to put him down in Greta’s room, which didn’t go over very well, so I moved him to the boys’ room which is much darker.  He was still pretty upset (I think because he wasn’t familiar with his surroundings and he was overtired) so Kevin went up to settle him down and the boys ended up taking a little siesta together for a little bit. Ha! It was a good powernap for both 🙂  Finn enjoyed playing with his cousins and going up the stairs many times. Happy birthday, Greta!IMG_20140412_142633613DSC_1307 DSC_1316 DSC_1343 DSC_1301 DSC_1289 DSC_1290 DSC_1284 DSC_1319 DSC_1321 DSC_1331 DSC_1294 DSC_1350 DSC_1351 DSC_1352
