DSC_1123Finn is taking more and more consecutive steps with every day. He is pretty much “almost” walking! Sometimes I look at him and then turn my back and start to do something and when I turn back around to look for him he’s in a totally different place! He can move pretty quietly when he walks so I find him in surprising places!

We started off this week by going to the pediatrician on St. Patrick’s Day for Finn’s 12 month checkup. He was a happy boy that morning, we put on his green shirt and gave him the lucky bear. He is really loving cuddling with soft animals and blankets lately. He checked in at 19 lb 11 oz (24th percentile), 28.75″ (12th percentile), and his head circumference was 46.5 cm (63rd percentile). He was still on antibiotics for his ear infection (through Thursday 3/20). His weight was down 4 ounces from a week ago (at his ear infection appointment), and it was down 4 ounces at that appointment from the previous couple of weeks. So I’m a bit nervous about that, but I asked the doctor and he said since he’s been sick with the ear infection he isn’t concerned right now. He said we’d let him get over the ear infection, and would want to maintain or increase his weight once he’s kicked that. He definitely hasn’t had his full appetite for bottles or finger foods. He’s also getting in his 7th tooth so that could be some of his lesser appetite too. His mood has definitely gotten better since he’s gone on the antibiotics for his ear infection. Poor little guy got a finger prick to check his hemoglobin (which was great), two shots in the arm (measels and chickenpox) and one shot in his leg (Prevnar).  He was worn out for the afternoon and the next day – he got in some extra sleep!

DSC_0979Thursday we went over to Aunt Amy and Uncle Andy’s to celebrate with dessert for Amy’s big 40th birthday! On the ride over Finn and I had some fun in the back seat playing high-five. He loves to give high-five’s when you ask him to 🙂  The kiddos had fun playing and we all enjoyed a nice strawberry cake made by Andy and the boys. DSC_0988 DSC_0994 DSC_0995 DSC_0998 DSC_1000 DSC_1008 DSC_1012 DSC_1016 DSC_1028 DSC_1038 DSC_1045 DSC_1049 DSC_1063 DSC_1068 DSC_1070

This week at Millcreek we nearly completed our office renovations, which include a new office for me! I feel rather spoiled, as my new digs are quite spacious and very nice. The server rack will be moved out, but for now it is in my office. Here is before I moved in and after! I still am working on getting everything in its new place and laying everything out, but it’s a start!IMG_20140318_141943919_HDR IMG_20140318_195837301

Friday after work we headed to Mansfield. My parents were gracious to watch Finn for his first official overnight without momma or daddy! Kevin gave me tickets to a David Nail concert in Medina, OH. So we took Finn, Cammie, and Lily to mom and dad’s and had a nice dinner with them. Then we left Finn to play with Grandma and Grandpa while we headed to the concert. We had a fun time and at the end I got an autographed t-shirt and cd (which I really haven’t ever done, but I figured, hey, why not? It was a small venue and was a short wait!). We arrived back at mom and dad’s Saturday morning, just after Finn got up. Our little man slept so well they woke him up around 9:15 (he’s usually up by 8) so dad could see him for a bit before he went to a church work day (and he hadn’t made a peep so they were getting nervous, I think! I do the same thing when he gets up much later than normal!).IMG_20140321_221318075 IMG_20140321_222408986 IMG_20140321_224204524 IMG_20140322_242534310MG950321-2DSC_1078 DSC_1104 DSC_1116 DSC_1119

Saturday we headed back to Columbus and had a family dinner with Mom, Dad, Amy, Andy, Graham, Rowan, Greta, Kevin, Finn and myself to celebrate Amy’s and my birthdays. We went to a Japanese Steakhouse, which turned out to be tons of fun for the kids as they could watch our chef’s skills with his utensils and tricks! Mom crafted another lovely birthday cake that we enjoyed afterwards back at our house.  Then everyone went home and it was lights out – it was a busy week and weekend and we were beat!DSC_1128 DSC_1135 DSC_1170 DSC_1172 DSC_1176 DSC_1184 DSC_1187 DSC_1199 DSC_1201 DSC_1202 DSC_1220 DSC_1227Kevin and I are enjoying our shakes and making some headway on our weight loss. My parents brought us back these lovely Tervis coolers from their trip to Florida. Now each day I take two shakes to work in these nice travel coolers. Can you guess which is mine and which is Kevin’s?IMG_20140316_101400991Finn and Sam continue to have fun together and this week they’ve enjoyed playing with so many new toys. Here they are playing with Finn’s new Mega Block wagon – pretty cute, eh? Sam’s a strong boy!photo-3 photo-2

We’ve had quite a week around here!

The weekend began with a visit from Kevin’s parents on Saturday. They came to visit and to go the Crew game with us as a part of Father’s day. So, here Finn took in his first soccer game!IMG_20130831_215642_759

On Sunday we had a nice dinner on the patio at Milestone 229, along the Scioto Mile. It is a nice stretch along the river in downtown Columbus that has really been revitalized in the last couple of years. There is a fun splash park that you can see and be a part of from the patio. It is open to the public and it is always full of kiddos on these warm days. DSC_0131

After dinner we strolled along the river and around the downtown area where Kevin works. It was a pleasant evening for a walk.

Monday brought on a big milestone – Finn is on the move! He started scooting on our bed, doing an “army” crawl of sorts using his arms to pull himself forward. He doesn’t move constantly, but he can definitely get around!! Check out the video.

On Monday, yet another first for Finn, we went to the last home game of the season for the Columbus Clippers.  It was a beautiful afternoon and we were lucky to have seats in the shade. He was quite pleasant for most of the game, and ended up taking about a half hour nap toward the end. He woke up just in time to run the bases with daddy, a tradition that the park does at the end of the season for kids and families.

Here Finn runs the bases with daddy, and touches every base then slides into home…

Friday was the annual Open House at Millcreek. We invite all of our customers to visit and tour the nursery and facilities and we cater a nice lunch for everyone. Kevin was able to make it with Finn early in the afternoon and he was adored by all…co workers as well as friends and customers. I had a blast showing him off to everyone and he was full of smiles and cuddles for everyone. 🙂DSC_0208DSC_0210DSC_0194DSC_0231

The dogs are loving life. Bear is doing really well right now, getting along just fine moving up and down the stairs at her regular slow pace but moving nonetheless.  I captured her enjoying the yard on Saturday morning. She is so funny – as soon as she sees you anymore she stands up, so I shot these from inside the porch where she wouldn’t spot me. Then I went out on the patio and got some of the girls. DSC_0238

It is so fun to go in to get Finn in the morning once he is awake. He’s such a happy guy, he wakes up and talks and babbles and sings for a bit.  Once he spots you he’s super excited, full of smiles, and starts kicking the mattress with excitement. And the last photo of him standing was totally staged….but super cute. DSC_0266

This is a newer pose, he often turns on one hip and sprawls his leg out to the side.

We geared him up this weekend in both OU Bobcat attire and OSU Buckeyes gear.  Let the games begin!

Check out the video of Lily and Finn getting in some cuddle time.

The girls love to spend time in Finn’s room and be a part of any and all activities. Here they got their ball stuck under his bed.

Here you can tell he is getting ready to propel himself forward!DSC_0416

DSC_0409And one last snuggle shot – daddy got in a power nap with Finn on Saturday. He wasn’t too interested in going down for his nap, so his daddy rocked him to sleep 🙂DSC_0402

Well we hit another milestone this week (at least for me!). We transitioned Finn to his room and sleeping in his crib at night, beginning on Sunday. He has done magnificent!  The first night he awoke around 4 am, and he cried pretty good for 10-15 minutes. Kevin checked on him and gave him his pacifier and he fell back asleep. He slept until 7:15 am, so for the night it was about 7 hours and 15 minutes.  Monday night he had a similar pattern, waking around 4:30 am. Kevin brought him in around 5:30 and we fed him as it had been 8.5 hours since he had eaten. We still thought that was really good!

Tuesday I headed up to Mansfield for the funeral of a dear woman I have known since I was a child in pre-school, Mrs. Bumpus. She was the sweetest lady, almost like a grandma to me. I first met her while I was in pre-school and since we attended the same church I would see her every week. As I got older I worked in the “Crib room” with her, which was the nursery where you watched the babies/infants during the church service. I kept in touch with her throughout college we would write notes to each other. She often sent me cards in the mail even for our wedding this past year. I often enjoyed being able to see her in Mansfield during the Christmas holiday. I will always remember she made the most amazing holiday treats – including the best caramel corn I’ve ever had, peanut brittle, and iced sugar cookies that were as perfect as I’ve ever seen. She moved to Tennessee about 2 years ago as she was growing older and needed the assistance of her family there. I took Finn with me on the trip, and her daughter and son-in-law told me she thought she had a great-grandson (Finn) and he was on her mantel.  So sweet, she was 91. He are some pics of Grandma and Grandpa having some fun with Finn.

We also received a nice package from Uncle John and Aunt Lora this week with some cute things for Finn.  Here he is with his Pacimal, an animal that has a pacifier attached!  He loved it, as you can see here.

DSC_0185 DSC_0179 DSC_0189

The rest of the week was pretty low-key. Finn continued to sleep really well, so well that I texted Tricia and asked her to wake him up on Wednesday morning at 9:30 – he had slept 9 hours and 40 minutes!  Wednesday night he slept just under 8 hours, and Thursday night he slept just under 10.  Man, this boy is liking his room! I wish he were still in our room, but the truth be told he was outgrowing the cosleeper! He would lay there and run his fingernails up and down the sides as he could reach both sides at the same time with his arms stretched.

I’ve been trying to get him to roll over more lately. He has done it numerous times, and often awakes on his belly in the morning.  But Kevin had yet to see him actually do it.  So Friday evening I took the camera and we had a little photo shoot to demonstrate his abilities to daddy.  Then, of course, Saturday he demonstrated in person, yay Finn!  Of course it helped that Cameron was there giving him a bit of a reason to roll. They enjoyed each other as you see here.

And here is Finn picking up one of his dad’s favorite habits: biting on paper towels!

And here are a few from this morning to wrap up the week. He continues to be enamored with his hands and feet! And he has begun to scratch himself with his nails!
