DSC_0800It seems hard to believe that earlier this week it was 80 degrees, and today it was in the mid-50’s! Fall seems to have arrived and the tree leaves are beginning to change around here. This week was a lot of fun as I was lucky to be home using up some of my vacation time. I loved being home, especially in the mornings, as I was able to get Finn up each day and enjoy some family time every morning 🙂  I made some progress on “purging” some of our belongings from a couple of rooms, primarily the loft. We are in a clean-up mode around here and it feels pretty good to pare down “stuff”! Finn and I drove up to Mansfield Thursday evening to deliver a load of giveways to mom and dad for their church rummage sale.

Debbie, Sam, Finn, and I went to Audrey and Samantha’s 5th birthday gathering on Friday. We were originally going to pick apples, but due to bad weather, stayed local and picked pumpkins instead. Finn was a champ and insisted on carrying his pumpkin (5.5 pounds, btw!) for a good stretch out of the field. IMG_20141003_135302180 IMG_20141003_140850145 IMG_20141003_140945103 IMG_20141003_141126940_HDR IMG_20141003_144028886

We enjoyed lots of pajama time in the mornings. Kevin purchased Griffin a set of farming equipment, almost identical to the combine we rode on a week ago. When Finn wakes up, he immediately says “taktah” and points to the tractors. He loves to lay on the floor (or our bed) and play with them – he has to have all three pieces, too! Putting our new kitchen to good use, Mom and dad were able to come down on Tuesday to make yummy applesauce from our apple picking adventure and also to have dinner, for which the Bethune’s joined as well. Then Friday evening Pat and Jim came to play with Finn while we went out to dinner with friends. After a temperamental start, he had quite a bit of fun (as did we) and he even had a fun bath! He loves seeing all of his grandparents so often!

Since the cold weather arrived this weekend, we broke out the t-ball set and had some indoor playtime too.  He was pretty happy about that as you can see. Then we headed to check out Pigeon Roost Farms, in Hebron, on a very brisk late afternoon. Griffin loved the “ride” in the wagon the most. He’s also begun saying “yah” for yes. Now when you ask him something he often replies, “yah”.  Pretty cute.  And all 4 of his molars are now through, though not entirely in.  He officially has 12 teeth!IMG_20141003_082606470 IMG_20141004_195444950DSC_0763DSC_0774DSC_0754 DSC_0731 DSC_0744

And here are a few more from the week, including a fun selfie of Debbie, Finn, and Sam riding the “choo choo” at the zoo, playing with clay, Finn being silly playing in the office, and a fun video of Griffin playing with Lily. photo(1) photo DSC_0836 DSC_0831 IMG_20140929_180617829

Kitchen update: Brett installed the crown molding and part of the baseboards in the kitchen this week. And I think I failed to mention last week that the entire first floor (kitchen, dining, family, hallways), foyer, loft, and upstairs hallway were painted last week [Collonade Gray] as well as the laundry room [Pewter Cast] and office [don’t know the name – but a bluish-teal]. We are nearing the end of the project, but still some fine details to wrap up!

Finn ~ 50 weeks

Seriously, where does the time go? I’ve been thinking these past several weeks how time is just passing way too fast. How can Finn almost be 1 year old?? He is turning in to this little man and it is so fun to watch him every day, yet I frequently ask myself how can our baby be growing so fast?

He loves to be a bit mischievous and test the boundaries at times. Sometimes when we tell him no, he will look right at us and cautiously do it again – whatever it was.  Trying to see how far he can go, that little stinker! He’s loving climbing on things, including climbing into buckets or boxes, climbing on to his rocker, or at times, climbing on Lily! She just lays there and puts up with it, usually chewing her nylabone. IMG_20140224_174835727 IMG_20140224_175359588 IMG_20140224_175517311 IMG_20140224_175721029 DSC_0007 DSC_0008 DSC_0012 DSC_0025 DSC_0028 DSC_0031 DSC_0036 DSC_0037 IMG_20140301_081934463 IMG_20140301_082038194 DSC_0234 DSC_0254 DSC_0272 DSC_0278 DSC_0280

This week Kevin finished installing a new chalk board we purchased for the basement. Despite having a finished lower level, we didn’t spent much time down there ourselves or with Finn. However, after our trip to IKEA awhile back it is a much more kid-friendly space to play! Debbie plans fun activities with Finn and Sam each week. They’ve been coloring, painting, playing with bubbles, and playing with all of the toys down there. She took a few cute photos of them together this week too. Finn continues to cruise all along the furniture and he also pushes things across the floors (including his music table across the carpet). He’s wanted to take a few steps on his own but so far he only goes about one step before he falls to his bum. He is also quite good at lowering himself to the floor very gently!photo-2 photo (1)-2 photo (2)-2 DSC_0082 DSC_0084 DSC_0090 DSC_0091 DSC_0094 DSC_0100 DSC_0104 DSC_0108 DSC_0113 DSC_0114 DSC_0076 DSC_0118 DSC_0122 DSC_0129 DSC_0140 DSC_0163 DSC_0171 DSC_0173 DSC_0174 DSC_0177

We are in party planning mode and look forward to celebrating Finn’s birthday in a couple weeks with our family and friends. My office hours officially switch to 5 pm on Monday, March 3rd, and that is just the beginning of the longer days for me. I’m not really looking forward to the late nights, but will appreciate having such a flexible schedule after the spring craze is over. Renovations have begun at my office as well and as a part of this phase I will have an office of my own! I never really thought I needed an office to myself, but I am actually looking forward to having a space that I can work uninterrupted! It’s exciting and hopefully will be complete by April 1st! Yay! Other than the hours of sunlight getting longer each day, I’m most excited that Kevin and Finn will be able to come visit me in the Spring!

Kevin and I began a meal replacement plan this week. I have two shakes a day, breakfast and lunch, and Kevin has one for breakfast. Then we eat healthy snacks, like cottage cheese, yogurt, hummus, tuna, fruits, veggies, nuts, throughout the day. Can you guess which one of us eats which of those foods? :). Then we make a nice dinner of salad and a protein like steak or pork. I’m really enjoying it as I don’t really eat breakfast or lunch and I snack throughout the day. So this provides some consistency and I love that the shakes can be any flavor we want. So far we’ve stuck to mixed fruit and mixed berry, but this week I’m excited to try peanut butter banana and chocolate cherry! We use any kind of frozen fruits (or fresh), almond milk or oj, so the possibilities are endless. We splurged on Saturday night as we met up with the Ackerman’s on this side of the river for dinner at Easy Street, followed by a shared bowl of ice cream at Jeni’s! And correction from last week on mentioning Finn doesn’t care for raspberries! He actually is loving them, and had more than 10 tonight at dinner.  This little man has a big tummy, we haven’t figured out where it goes, but he enjoys having a good meal with mamma and daddy. This week some of his newer foods include steak, burger, cottage cheese, melon, avacado, curried brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Jeni’s Salted Caramel and Milkiest Chocolate ice creams! DSC_0183 DSC_0193
