Well, now that Summer is here we’re in fun-mode and gearing up for our summer trip to Florida by getting some life jackets at Costco, of course! On Monday morning we headed to downtown Powell for our traditional trip to watch the Memorial Day Parade. This year we were joined by our neighbors too so Griffin enjoyed gathering up all of the candy with Abbie.  After the parade we headed home and had family, friends, and neighbors over for a backyard cookout and party for Reid’s 1st birthday! We had plenty of scrumptious food grilled by Kevin and numerous sweet treat options including Reid’s smash cake and a cute fox cake and sugar cookies from a local bakery. The cake was lemon and was so delish! Reid enjoyed smashing his cake – or rather eating all the frosting! He learns that naturally from his brother. Thanks to Amy for many of these great pics! And here are a few others from our week. Can you believe I took the boys to Graeter’s again? It may be a habit.  The boys sure love when Grandma and Grandpa visit!  Griffin has started swim lessons at Aqua Tots in Powell in preparation for our trip to the beach. He’s going to be going twice a week which I think will be really helpful as he’s pretty timid in the water right now. This pic is from his first lesson where he was NOT excited to get his face in the water and he held on pretty tight to his teacher.  I helped Jane and Kathy from our neighborhood plant our entryway on Saturday morning. We planted 50 Lantana and 48 Sedum pretty quickly and they look quite nice!

And here are a couple videos 🙂

June 4, 2017 ~ 2 weeks

Another week in the books here. Time seems to be moving quickly though this week we were able to enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend. Kevin was home and we did our traditional trip to downtown Powell to watch the parade. We always meetup with my friend Kim and her family and this year we spontaneously went to their house after for a cookout. It was quite nice to catch up and for her to meet Reid. We had to wake Griffin up to go to the parade! Griffin is really liking taking photos lately. He took some with the big camera and others with my phone. He even knows how to take a photo on my phone without having to unlock it! Reid slept through almost the entire parade, until the very end when he piped up and wanted to eat. Here he is beginning to realize he’s hungry! Our annual parade-day family photos.  We headed to Macy’s to shop for a chair for Griffin’s room. Kevin’s parents were very kind to gift a chair to us for his room so we can move the leather recliner to Reid’s room. Here these two are trying out the chair we ended up choosing. It’s perfect for his room as it’s a durable almost denim-like fabric in gray and wide enough to fit 2 or three people (depending on who they are, ha!).  We had a lovely dinner of BBQ beef sandwiches, pasta salad, jello and chocolates brought to us this week by the Pilgrim’s. It was delish. We’ve been very well cared for by our friends and family! Griffin had many fun adventures this week. We’ve been keeping his routine pretty normal. Debbie has been coming around 9:30 in the morning and he starts the day with breakfast followed by art projects, learning games, play or adventures.  On Friday Kevin, Griffin, Reid and I went to the “Celebrate Spring is Over” Millcreek party at Plain City Lanes Bowling Alley. Kevin and Finn bowled and we enjoyed pizza and other tasty treats. We were there far longer than I had anticipated, nearly 3 hours! Reid once again slept through almost all of it until the end when he was hungry. My fellow Millcreekers enjoyed seeing him and remarked at how cute and small he is.  I think he is so big!  This boy always loves to lay out his clothes and see his “choices”. He’s most often prefers to color coordinate his tops, bottoms, and socks. On Saturday we headed up to Mansfield for Graham’s birthday party at the Infield and Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein’s. It was our first road trip as a family of 4+2 and it wasn’t the best of starts! We needed to take a crate for Brutus (as he destroys at least one thing a day currently by chewing!). Needless to say that is pretty large. With all of our gear, people, gifts, dog accouterments, and so on we were loaded to the max. And on top of that Brutus either didn’t want to get in the back or wouldn’t fit, so he rode on the floor of the back seat. Or, as it turns out he sat up and partially on my lap at times. Yikes. This dog cracks me up. He is a giant yet such a baby. He really needs a lot of attention. He regularly picks up things he knows he shouldn’t have and brings them right to me – just to say, “hey, look at me”. He literally wanted to get in my lap in the car. It made me realize it had been many weeks since he’d been in a car for any length of time and even on the trips we’ve taken him on we’d been putting him in the back seat where he would sit on the floor. Guess that’s what he’s gotten used to and the fact that two kids and an adult and a bunch of things were there this time didn’t seem to faze his wanting to be there too! Once we unloaded the car and crated Brutus we all headed to the Infield for an afternoon of Go Karts and mini golf. It was HOT outside and I was wearing Reid in the Ergo baby carrier for the first time. He slept just fine, but man, I was sweaty hot and so was he when we got him out to cool us both off (hence his smile, perhaps?).
This time Griffin was tall enough to drive the kiddie go karts. He was either tired or unsure of things in the beginning as he didn’t quite get how to work the car. But he got the swing of it after a bit.  We celebrated Graham’s 7th birthday and Dad’s 71st birthday with cake, ice cream, and presents. Afterward I walked around the yard with Dad and checked out his seedlings. Things are looking great and very colorful!  Our first photo as a family of 11! Reid’s first piece of mail arrived this week – his social security card! And here are some others from our week.  I took this picture on the morning of May 31st and later that day Reid’s umbilical cord fell off.  11 days – it was a thick cord!Griffin asks regularly to hold Reid. He’s super sweet about it and likes holding him for about a minute. Then he asks you to take him off – he’s heavy! He is wearing 3 month clothing already and it fits really well! Yowzaa.  This is Brutus’ regular spot in our bedroom, especially if he’s being disciplined (read that as yelled at) for doing something bad 🙁 Griffin also loves to cuddle with Brutus and Lily. Brutus is getting pretty big and Griffin just loves laying on him, literally, on him. We ask him not to lay on him directly but to cuddle next to him but he just loves to do it.  Here is a picture of Griffin when he was about 9 or 10 weeks old. This is at the Memorial Tournament with the Manning girls. He looks about the size that Reid is now! And you can see how they look different – different noses, eyes, and chins for sure.

DSC_0210-2Throw back to St. Patrick’s Day Parade and other shenanigans as I’m still playing catch up on our blog posts! Check out this handsome fella and his spirited St. Patty’s Day gear.

Finn loves to send Daddy off to work (“Downtown, Big City”) and this particular morning he was wearing Kevin’s bag and walking around the kitchen 🙂IMG_4598This week was my big birthday, my 40th, so I decided to take the day off work. I received a lovely flower arrangement from Mom and Dad, and also a colorful bouquet of roses from Jaime, Aaron, Lexi and Chase. My birthday was on a Wednesday, so I was able to take Griffin to school and pick him up.  We had a fun day together, going to Target, the BMV to renew my plates, and of course a stop at Graeter’s for my free birthday treat (a delicious sundae!). Later that night Kevin and I went out to dinner at Cap City Diner, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and huge piece of chocolate cake.  They have the most delicious vegetable plate and I devoured it 🙂  When we got back home I opened the lovely gifts from Finn and Kevin.  Finn went shopping with daddy to get blush for me, and Kevin had life-size canvases of Hailey and Cameron printed for me!  They are super cool and we plan to put them in our Laundry room. IMG_4609 IMG_4612 IMG_4616 (Finn took this one of his leg, lol!)IMG_4618 IMG_4622 IMG_4629(1) IMG_4626 IMG_4632 IMG_4635 IMG_4646 IMG_4650 IMG_4656 IMG_4657 IMG_4658 IMG_4662 IMG_4624 IMG_4606 IMG_4663In preparation for Finn’s birthday we got a pre-reading on how tall his is.  He loves to measure himself (height and his feet – the special “tool” we use to see how tall he is). IMG_4675 IMG_4678This year we went to the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It was our first time going and it was a lot of fun! The weather was warm and sunny. And we got to see Cam and Cyd play in the Dublin Jerome Marching Band too!DSC_0189-2 IMG_4681 DSC_0193-2 IMG_4685 IMG_4696 IMG_4697 IMG_4709 DSC_0181-2 DSC_0183-2 DSC_0186-2 DSC_0197-2 DSC_0198-2 DSC_0216-2 DSC_0200-2 DSC_0201-2 DSC_0206-2 DSC_0209-2 DSC_0210-2 DSC_0219-2 DSC_0211-2 DSC_0220-2 DSC_0222-2 DSC_0224-2 DSC_0226-2 IMG_4700 IMG_4705 DSC_0204-2 IMG_4706 DSC_0229-2 DSC_0235-2I’m very grateful for my friend, Sarah, who insisted a celebration was in order for my 40th birthday. In all honesty I really didn’t care much about my birthday and certainly didn’t feel like celebrating.  But as Sarah always does, she told me like it was and insisted it is time to turn a new leaf and celebrate. So she gave me the option of a dinner party at her house or a spa day with girlfriends. Whatever I chose, she would take care of all the planning.  Kevin really wanted to have a party for me too, and I thought it would be nice to see all kinds of family and friends so Sarah graciously planned a dinner party at her house.  It was a really enjoyable night, complete with the most delicious food based upon several of my favorite things (avacados, chicken salad, steak, salads, desserts, and such).  It was a huge spread of food!  And Kevin made sure I had a Bunny Cake!  I’m really grateful to be surrounded by loving friends and family! Believe it or not, we didn’t take a single people-picture the entire night.  What?? Only pictures of food…crazy, but here it is!IMG_4712 IMG_4722 IMG_4714 IMG_4720 IMG_4719 IMG_4717 IMG_4718 IMG_4724We ended the week with dinner with the Howards and Ackerman families. It was a Sunday evening and we basically had the place to ourselves!IMG_4728 IMG_4732 IMG_4736 IMG_4742In other adventures this week, Finn made some yummy shamrock sugar cookies with Debbie (that we took to the parade!), went to the zoo, and the music park!IMG_4665 IMG_4589 IMG_4588 IMG_4590
