What a fun weekend of fun and family, celebrating Easter and the Resurrection of Christ!
The week was rather a blur leading up to the weekend for me, as spring is in full swing at Millcreek. Most evenings I arrived home between 9:30 and 10 pm. I think the next couple of weeks will be much of the same as it looks as though the warmer temperatures are finally here to stay. Kevin did take Finn to the doctor on Monday for his ear re-check and we are happy to report his ear infection has finally cleared up, super yay!
Finn still loves trying to mimic any word you say, this week he seemed to say thank you and “wa wa” for his sippy cup of water. This week he also mastered using the straw sippy cup, yay! He can drink out of it like a champ, and can also suck the yogurt out of the yogurt pouches too (though he also squeezes it all over if you aren’t careful!).
Friday Finn and Kevin enjoyed a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong. They had a fun day of play together on Friday while Kevin was helping the Ackerman’s lay a new hardwood floor. They spent the night with us as well, which meant I got to see them too, and Kevin and I enjoyed a nice date night for dinner out Friday evening and they stayed home with Finn after we put him to bed! Saturday afternoon we headed to Mansfield to celebrate Easter a day early with my family. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and a fun easter egg hunt. Finn basically found his first egg and then just wanted to eat it! He was so tired on our way there, but didn’t fall asleep until we were about 5 minutes from arriving which resulted in a twenty five minute nap. We also checked out mom and dad’s newly renovated first floor bathroom and laundry room, which is awesome! And you’ll see a photo below of many stained glass lamps dad has made. There’s never a dull moment. By the end of the evening he was pretty loopy, babbling like crazy, dumping baskets of easter eggs everywhere, and falling all over the place as he tried to walk. We thought he would fall asleep before we reached the highway, however, he didn’t fall asleep the entire way home! Silly boy.
I wanted to take a family photo, so we all headed out to the deck to give it a shot. It started pretty well, but then both Lily and Cameron decided they wanted to be a part of the action. We were all laughing so hard as the dogs inched their way into the photos (and it wasn’t really their flattering side) as they thought they were being cute and that our laughing meant we wanted to give them attention). So here you can see real life in action 😉
Sunday was a long day as we served in the church nursery for the early service at 9 am and then attended the 11 am service. We did sneak in some photos of the Bethune’s and ourselves and attempted some of the cousins 🙂
Afterward we headed to celebrate Easter with Kevin’s family outside of Enon at Cookie & Steve’s. It was a beautiful afternoon full of sunshine. It was so nice to sit outside, spend time with family, and enjoy the warm rays while eating yet again! Finn loved roaming around the yard and going where all the “big kids” were, on the swing set, and wandering over to see the neighbors dogs.
And finally, when we got home, we gave Finn his Easter Basket and let him play with it for a few minutes before it was bath time and bed time! His favorite part was the big red ball and carrying around and opening up the easter eggs!
