IMG_4109We’ve had more of our usual activities this week including lots of play time inside, artwork, and Swim Lessons! We are going to be taking a bit of a break from lessons here soon and I recently asked Finn’s teacher when they move to a different class. I learned that when they turn 3 they move on to the class with just their teachers – no parents!  What?! I was so sad as I really enjoy our time in the water each week. 🙁 And as we have some lessons to make up before our last lesson (or you lose them) we’ve been going twice a week for the last few weeks.

One new activity we tried out was Family Ice Cream Night – where we made our own Vanilla Ice Cream – one batch with mini chocolate chips and the other plain. It was delish!IMG_4074 IMG_4077On Friday night we had an enjoyable family night out starting with pizza at Mellow Mushroom before we headed to the movie theater to see the Peanuts flick. Finn enjoyed it, and the popcorn too of course. Afterwards we went next door to the pet store (it’s one of Finn’s most favorite things to do is go play with the puppies and hold the animals and give the pups “pepal (special) treats”.  Tonight we played with a fun and spunky husky. IMG_4087IMG_4089IMG_4090IMG_4091IMG_4092We ended our night with a sundae at the main Graeter’s, which is conveniently across the street from the movie theater! Finn loved that this location has an indoor playground. IMG_4093IMG_4095And here is Finn’s balloon from the balloon lady at Mellow Mushroom: in honor of heading to see the movie, she made him Snoopy!IMG_4096IMG_4100Here is our monkey on the way to swim lessons.IMG_4104And another shot of him showing his excellent balance skills. IMG_4102

We celebrated Andy’s dinner with the whole family down at Milestone 229. We had a delicious dinner and a nice night 🙂  Earlier in the afternoon mommy and Finn were making Rice Krispy treats and had an accident with the hot pan of marshmallows.  Finn burned his hand pretty good – but he was a real trooper getting his hand all bandaged up. IMG_4121IMG_20160118_192136648It finally snowed this week too, so the crew headed outdoors for a little fun in the snow and ended with hot cocoa and ice cream!IMG_4207 IMG_4082And here are a couple shots of art in the making this week. IMG_4079 IMG_4080

DSC_0035Remember this? While there is still snow on the ground here the weather is certainly warming up.  Between work, travel, and just everyday life I’ve gottten a bit behind on the blog over the last couple of weeks!  So we’re just going to travel back in time a bit to when we had a big winter snowfall.

Finn loves going outside to play in the snow and help shovel (shobel) with his daddy. Since our driveway is pretty long Kevin is happy to have a helper 😉  Albeit on this particular day it was right before nap time so he was a bit bleary not to mention suited up pretty well for the cold weather so it was a bit more difficult to move than in an everyday outfit! The first two pics are from our new kitchen window. It’s just so pretty to look into our backyard and see this. I love the amount of trees we have and the large backyard and when the snow falls it looks so serene.

DSC_0012 DSC_0006 DSC_0017 DSC_0011 DSC_0015We even brought Lily outside (to be quite honest she was yelping from inside, practically begging to come out). She loved adventuring around the front yard and running super fast through the snow. DSC_0023 DSC_0024 DSC_0040 DSC_0030 DSC_0045 DSC_0047 DSC_0048 DSC_0050We even played a game where Kevin tossed a shovel full of snow on top of Lily, and then Finn wanted daddy to do the same thing to him!DSC_0051 DSC_0052 DSC_0054 DSC_0056 We purchased a basketball hoop for Finn this week – he absolutely loves it! He was shooting so well that I decided to take a video of him. Check this out – he made four shots in a row!

Finn’s verbal skills are getting so good. He is learning new words every day and showing that he understands new concepts too. He often surprises me with what he says. If we ask him to try to say something he is usually game to repeat it – and he is usually quite good! He’s putting 3, 4, or 5 words together at a time, all the time! Some popular ones are “miss you so much daddy”, “love you so much”, “right here mommy”, “that’s enough now, nuff”, “where is daddy at”, “lily (yily) come now”, “lily (yily) that’s nuff” (if she’s drinking a lot of water), “help daddy shobel now outside”. You get the idea 🙂

And here are a few more odds and ends. We now have our pendant lights above the island up! Bubbles, bubbles, and more bubbles. Finn and I did some early Easter painting. And of course we always enjoy donuts around here!20150216_205738-2 20150216_201306-2 DSC_0001 DSC_0004 DSC_0005 IMG_20150221_120130810

Have a good week!

DSC_0196The snow has begun coming down in Powell! Tonight Kevin and Griffin headed out to shovel the driveway so our little man could have some fun in the snow before bed. The snow was really heavy and wet so they made a cute little snowman!

Griffin would have stayed in there all night long if we would have let him! He loves the bubbles, all the cups and toys, and of course showing off for Lily. DSC_0130 DSC_0116 DSC_0131 DSC_0145 DSC_0152 DSC_0155Debbie and the boys had a fun week too, making playdough one day and then taking a fun trip to the Conservatory on Friday where they enjoyed walking all around the inside exhibits. They checked out the fish and plants and had a fun lunch. photo (2) photo (3)photo (4) photo (5)Saturday morning Millcreek was featured on the For Your Garden with Tom Wood segment on the Weekend Edition of Today on NBC4 Columbus.  It was a great opportunity for us to promote our nursery and talk about perennials and herbs with the public. We had 4 segments throughout the 8 am hour: an intro of Millcreek, Perennials, Propagation, and Herbs. Fred and I spoke in the Perennial segment. It was a fun experience!

You can watch it here:
