We finally got some of that white stuff and super frigid temps to go with it! It was so cold out, we weren’t really able to play in the snow. Finn and Daddy did shovel the driveway the morning the snow arrived. I think they both had some fun 🙂 Later that day Debbie, Finn, and Sam played with the snow in the warm indoors – lucky, eh? Monday Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong came up to play with Finn for the day. Finn had lots of fun playing and showing Grandma all of his skills. It was frigid out, so we all enjoyed some spicy black bean chili for dinner before they headed back home.

Finn hit another milestone this week as he put on his pants and shirt all by himself! His pants were backwards, but we’ll take it! He has really been into picking out his clothes for awhile now either in the morning to get dressed, or at night he picks out his jammies. He also has put on his shoes or boots a few times but will usually ask for help. I attended the CENTS show this week so Kevin and I were able to fit in two date-nights this week. We went out to dinner both nights as we met up after work. Our fave was G. Michaels. I had a delicious Roasted Butternut Squash salad followed by the Vegetarian Plate which also included grits. Here it is – it was AMAZING. And I brought home tons of it and enjoyed it on Saturday. Yum! Kevin enjoyed Fried Gerber Chicken with braised greens, cayenne mashed sweets, kitchen sink gravy, and pepper jam.

We also celebrated Debbie’s one year anniversary with us on Wednesday. I left early for work all week, so I wasn’t here in the morning, but Finn and I baked some vanilla cupcakes and decorated them with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. Debbie, Finn, and Sam enjoyed them for lunch, amongst other things, of course. It was a pretty typical week otherwise. Painting with some new sparkle paints, enjoying tomato soup, playing with tools, walking around like a blue monster, Lily enjoying the sunshine, and making Buckeyes in preparation for Monday’s National Championship Game! We are on the move around here! Forgive the somewhat fuzzy pictures, but lately it’s hard for me to take a photo that is in focus! A combination of Finn’s speed and my lack of camera skills. In any case, it’s pretty representative of our days around here. We’ve posted a couple of videos this week too so you can see Finn’s full personality.

My work is beginning to pick up and I think once (if ?) the weather ever actually breaks we are going to get slammed beyond belief. I’ve been enjoying Finn’s schedule in the evenings lately as he’s asleep when I leave in the morning. It’s been working out that he wakes up from his late afternoon nap sometimes as late as 6:30 or 7, so I get in some fun play time and cuddles before I put him down for bed. And he’s so cute at bed time. He is sleepy, yet happy, and cuddles and babbles quite a bit. Warms my heart.

Lots of photos on the go this week. Finn still crawls and cruises to get around, but he definitely is walking more and more with every day. And, what I hope, is the last pictures of the yard looking like winter through the windows! Hoping to use these shades outside soon!

Saturday morning we went to the Columbus Museum of Art where we met Amy to have a family photo shoot. We’re excited to see those photos! There was far more children’s activities and interactive exhibits than I had ever imagined. That evening Finn and I enjoyed some momma and son time while Kevin was out with friends. We enjoyed dinner together followed by Sesame Street. He just loves to watch that show!

Finn ~ 46 weeks

Last weekend we went outside for a quick 10 minutes of play in the snow. Finn sat there and took it all in, literally, he face planted at one point! He’s on the move so much lately I figured he would crawl around and check everything out but he didn’t move one bit! Lily and Cameron love to play in the snow and ran around super fast (at least Lily!).

The rest of the week was pretty busy with work and just the normal routine and somehow I didn’t really take many photos. We are leaving for Brett & Missy’s wedding this week (yay!) so lots to do to get ready to be gone for a nice warm vacation. Friday I took Finn to the doctor to re-check his ear. He woke up at 2:30 am Thursday morning and was up for about 45 minutes (since he’s been sleeping through the night that’s the second time ever he was kind of squealing and wouldn’t fall asleep on his own) so I figured perhaps his ear infection wasn’t totally cleared up and as it turns out that was it. Glad we got him in then instead of his original re-check which was scheduled for the day we are leaving on vacation! He is on another 10 days of a different antibiotic so we are hoping it will all be cleared up by the time we have to jump on a plane. As a bonus, we got to check in on his weight and height. Our “little” man is packing on the pounds. He checked in at 19 lb 8.8 oz (33rd percentile and up from 18 lb 10 oz just 2 1/2 weeks previous!). He is 28.5″ tall (though I’m always weary of the accuracy of the height portion of the exam). He’s all about grown up food and isn’t very interested in his bottle these days. I even asked the doctor how much formula he should have a day and she replied 20-24 ounces. I think we are closer to the 20….. We’ve tried several “sippy” cups filled with water, most of which I find are extremely hard to suck anything out of (even for me) and he tries to use them a few times before he typically throws them on the floor.

If given a choice of foods, or if he spots any on your plate or on the counter, Finn points to bread and goes “mmmm”. Here he is with a little sass, telling us he’d like some bread (aka a hotdog bun!)

Here are some photos from the rest of our week. Griffin is constantly on the move. He loves to walk along everything and then just plop down and crawl somewhere further away. Today I watched him pull down his shirt and put a leaf from one of the kitchen plants down his shirt. It was rather funny! I took it out, though I don’t think he knew I did because when he woke up from his morning nap I walked in his room to find him peeking down the inside of his shirt!
