This week it’s been all Irish, as in the Irish Festival in Dublin!  We’ve been on vacation the last couple of years during this festival weekend and haven’t been able to go, but this year we lived it up! On Thursday Griffin ran his first race, the Kid’s Dash, which is a 1/4 mile “race”. He did awesome as he ran down the street and back. Kevin ran with him as we weren’t sure what he would think of it.  Kevin remarked that while he was running he kept saying “this is so much fun!”.  He was given a really nice medal at the end of the race! Graham and Rowan ran the race too and afterward Amy and Andy ran the 5K. Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein came down to watch and we all had a fun time.

Grandma and Grandpa Beilstein spent the night too. Finn enjoyed Grandma reading him “Granite”, the new book they brought back from Alaska for him. It’s about a dog and the Iditarod race in Alaska and Finn just loves listening to it.  All of the cousins played together while Mom, Amy, and I went to get a pedicure to prepare for our vacation. Thanks mom!IMG_20150731_085305590 IMG_20150731_105838605We’re finally reaping some of our harvest from the garden including some baby carrots (some harvested a bit early, perhaps, but we were eager ;)) Finn has been a cucumber eating machine and on this day he loved the baby carrots and pulling some onions.

We had some yummy food, walked through the vendors, and listened to great music. Then we headed back on Saturday with Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong and Brett and Missy. It was an unusually nice day (low humidity, sunshine, blue skies, and warm temps! We spent a bit of time in the kid’s play area where I think Finn may have played every game and jumped on every inflatable that was there! Everyone spent Saturday night and we had a really lazy Sunday morning filled with doe doe’s, Finn’s favorite, from Tim Horton’s and a pizza lunch thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong! Yum.IMG_20150731_205403719_HDR

20150606_205837-1Griffin and I tagged along with Daddy to the Crew Game this night and amongst other items like a hot dog and popcorn, Finn had his first taste of cotton candy.  I wish we could have captured his cute little face when he took his first bite. He lit up like a flashlight and was pretty excited. He said it was so “yummy”.  I used to love cotton candy when I was little. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – isn’t that how it goes?

Other adventures this week were a couple of hours on Sunday at the Memorial Golf Tournament at Muirfield. It was a really warm afternoon and Finn went with us. We spent most of our time near the green on 14. We had a nice little spot and watched several golfers come through. Finn is so observant and really loves to clap. Even without prompting after the golfer would make his shot and others would begin clapping, he just perked right up and started clapping too. So cute. IMG_20150607_133533313 IMG_20150607_133556038After the tournament we headed to Mansfield to celebrate dad’s birthday with a cookout with the rest of the family. We tooled around the yard a bit and across the bridge to check out grandpa’s plants. And of course, we had an ice cream cake from DQ – it’s almost a yearly tradition on dad’s birthday! Finn, Graham, and Rowan enjoyed “helping” open gifts and sampling the frosting. DSC_0048 DSC_0051 DSC_0055 DSC_0056 DSC_0058 DSC_0059 DSC_0067 DSC_0070 DSC_0071Kevin and I used to spend a lot of time downtown when he lived there and we were dating. I took Finn down to meet Kevin one night for dinner on the patio at the Elevator. We got super lucky and made it to our car just prior to a ginormous rain storm.  I mean there was flooding on 315 on our way home! We all had fun though, and Finn wanted to get down and smell the flowers near our table for a short bit. IMG_20150605_205319497And here are a couple of highlights of Finn playing with Lily. He talks her into coming everywhere we go in the house, or in the yard.  Though she doesn’t always listen without adult coercion 🙂 This night I snapped a few phone pics of him laying down in the hallway talking to her. Before long he wanted to get his blankie and cover her up for her nap. He’s a really good caretaker!IMG_20150606_181149090 IMG_20150606_181415138 IMG_20150606_181419349

DSC_0152It has been a really cold weekend here! We’re hoping it’s the last of the wintry weather! Even in the cold weather (around 20 degrees) we ventured on a walk from a Claire & Eric’s house up to downtown Powell for the Saturday morning Easter Egg hunt. It is divided by age groups though this year they were all pretty sparse with kiddos given the weather. The eggs, however, were quite plentiful! When the horn sounded to begin the hunt Finn took off in a sprint, passing tons of eggs! He was really excited to go run 🙂 But he soon began to fill his froggy basket and had quite the take home of candies.  We walked to the Mean Bean to warm up with muffins and coffee and then made a pit stop at the Beehive Bread Company before walking back to Claire & Eric’s for a bit of play time. DSC_0074 DSC_0077 DSC_0078 DSC_0080 DSC_0082 DSC_0087 DSC_0066 DSC_0063 DSC_0073 DSC_0070 DSC_0092 DSC_0094 DSC_0099 DSC_0106I’ve been thinking lately about getting seeds started for our summer garden so after our Easter Egg fun we decided to head to the store to go shopping for some supplies. Finn loves planting the seeds and playing in the dirt. And before we got started he really enjoyed “building towers” with the soil pods.  Mind you many of the plants we started don’t require growing indoors and will likely do better directly sown in the garden outside. But we’re doing it all for the fun of growing things!IMG_20150328_120618452 DSC_0108 DSC_0114 DSC_0118 DSC_0121 IMG_20150328_153230993_HDR DSC_0126 DSC_0130 DSC_0132 DSC_0133 DSC_0135 DSC_0140 IMG_20150328_155554143 DSC_0148 DSC_0152

And here is our finished product: Beans, Beets, Kaleidoscope Carrots (many colors!), Cucumber, Baby Carrots, Butternut Squash, Zucchini, and Tomatoes.

DSC_0156 DSC_0157 DSC_0160After a good nap, we woke Finn up to head to the Columbus Crew SC game. It was a 7:30 game on a super cold night, but we bundled up, took an awesome seat warmer (it was so warm!!), a couple of blankets, and headed out! Finn did really well and had fun watching the game, eyeing spiderman (that he swore was across the field in a “box” where people enter the stadium), a helicopter, streamers, and the moon! From time to time he would say “no night night”. I think that because it was dark outside and he could see the moon we were going to put him to bed soon.  It was pretty cute. And when we got home he and daddy (and Lily too) played a quick game of dribble in the kitchen. crew game 3 28-2 DSC_0162 DSC_0167 DSC_0169Cammie has had a tough week of digestive problems – both bowels and vomiting. She is on a round of antibiotics that I’m hoping will help her. The first day or so she didn’t seem very spunky, but every day since she’s seemed ok. Though each morning she has gotten sick at some point during the night 🙁  This aging thing really isn’t fun – poor girl!
