Just look at how big this guy is getting! His legs are definitely getting longer and when I look at him I see a boy who is growing up fast. It is both heart warming and a bit sad as I’d love for him to stay little forever. But I also enjoy each stage and it seems that every age has been my favorite age.
This week we pretty much prepped for our vacation to Ocean Isle Beach, NC! Lots of running errands to buy our food, sunscreen, and in my case lots of lists were made. I just love being able to make a list and check things off 🙂 Sadly, our friend Chris Howard’s father passed away on Tuesday, August 2. While a sad time, we were thankful we were still home and not on vacation. We were able to go to the calling hours on Thursday and stay on Friday for the funeral, interment, and reception after with Chris, Christie, and numerous other folks. Though I never met Bob, you can tell by the number of people at his calling hours and funeral and the words spoken of him at his service that he was a special man. Chris gave beautiful tribute to his dad at the funeral. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
On Thursday Finn, Graham, Rowan, and Greta all ran in the Kids Dash which kicks off the Dublin Irish Festival. It was a super hot and sticky evening. Amy and Andy ran in the 5K right after the Kids Dash and after that we all (even the non-runners, lol) had some ice cream.
Kind of like playing Where’s Waldo – can you find Finn?
We cheered on Andy and Amy as they zoomed by.

Finn went to the last Lollipops Concert of the year in Powell this week. This is another one of the pictures that when I see Finn, I realize how he is growing up. He isn’t one of the smaller toddler’s at these things anymore!Â
And of course a trip to the zoo, some artwork, baking some brownies with Miss Debbie to take on our vacation, and loving on Lily in his new Batman jammies!Â

Earlier in the morning we started the day by building and then destroying a “downtown big city” building.

We had on our summer bucket list to attend 3 outdoor concerts – I think we’ve already surpassed that! Going back to our dating days Kevin and I have always enjoying hanging out listening to live music and since we’ve had Finn we’ve always taken him along. He likes to dance and be silly. We were joined by the Bethune’s, Eilerman’s, and Manning’s this week so we had a nice fun crowd.Â

Seems as though this was a pretty big week for our family! Lots of activities and plenty to celebrate around here in March, the biggest one being the birthday of this sweet boy. Yep, we celebrated Griffin’s 3rd birthday on Wednesday, March 16th. Â How can it be? I just want time to slow down and for life to just be put on pause for a bit so I have time to soak it all in. These days pass far too quickly and I feel like I miss out on a lot during the week while I’m at work. I’d love nothing more than a work hiatus for a couple of months, but back to reality it is. For Griffin’s birthday we signed him up for Soccer lessons at Locker Soccer in Powell. His first class was the night before his birthday. Â He seemed to really enjoy all of the running around and the different activities that coach Aaron had the kids do. He is an intense listener and observer! He’s registered in the 3 year old class and I think he’s probably the youngest one of the group! We celebrated afterwards with a yummy dinner at Steak and Shake.

On Thursday, Saint Patrick’s Day, we ventured out with some friends for some dinner and green beer. We also enjoyed dressing Lily up in all of our Irish gear. Â And Debbie made quite the day with Finn and Sam – all things green (including the eggs)!Â
Saturday was the Powell Easter Egg Hunt.  It was a really cold morning, complete with flurries! But the egg hunt was a lot of fun. Finn was in the 3-5 age group, so lots more speed and competition than the last couple of years.  He filled up his frog basket with plenty of sweet treats.Â

Mom and Dad spent the night on Saturday after the party, as on Sunday it was Amy’s birthday! So after church (Palm Sunday too) we all headed to J. Liu for a scrumptious brunch, then back to Chez Bethune where we enjoyed yummy cakes that were made by Andy and the kids. Â Quite impressive, right?
