IMG_20150724_153603924_HDRSummer Fun.  We’ve been having lots of that lately and it’s been nice. Finn and I left one Friday afternoon to go to Goldfish for the open swim (where he has lessons), but realized on our way there that they aren’t open on Friday’s at lunch, but rather in the evening. Uh oh. I called a couple of local pools to see if they did day passes and they don’t. So I said, what the heck, we’re going to Zoombeezi Bay! We had “so much fun!”. We spent most of our time in the kid play pool that has several slides which he’s big enough to walk up and slide down by himself. We took a spin through the lazy river and also spent a bit of time in Baboon Lagoon where we got dumped on by a HUGE bucked of water from high above. I left my phone and all of our things in a locker and we just wondered around – so not really any photos, but lots of fun!IMG_20150724_172936353_HDR

Earlier in the week we had more water fun at the Dublin Bunny Park Splash Pad. First we went to the Peach Truck and picked up a large box of Georgia Peaches, yum! It was a fun afternoon with cousins 🙂

DSC_0019 DSC_0025 DSC_0026 DSC_0029 DSC_0035 IMG_20150720_145809434We also ventured “down town, big city” this week to a free kids event with friends at Bicentennial Park and the Scioto Mile.  It was themed Barnyard Palooza and Finn really enjoyed petting the farm animals, including a duck and chicken. There were also sheep, goats, and a turkey! We ended the afternoon at the Fountains and a nice lunch at Milestone 229. Yum.

It was a beautiful night to hang outdoors and listen to several artists including Matt and Kim, and CAKE. The same evening Finn enjoyed a kid’s concert in Hilliard with Debbie and he had a great time!IMG_20150723_202351905_HDR IMG_20150723_221129916 photo(4) photo(1)-2We’ve lived in Ohio for upwards of 20 years and haven’t ever visited the Olentangy Indian Caverns. We were out running some errands and on a whim decided to stop and check it out. While we waited for our tour Finn played on the play set and spent some time with some baby deer the caverns have adopted (through a breeder). They are all females and have names. They come right up to you and will lick the salt right off your skin. Finn thought they were so fun. He really loves animals. IMG_20150725_120140418_HDRIMG_20150725_122431225IMG_20150725_122512533DSC_0045IMG_20150725_132124852DSC_0059IMG_20150725_132438217DSC_0061DSC_0068DSC_0069DSC_0070DSC_0072DSC_0075DSC_0082IMG_20150725_135204469DSC_0085We spent an evening at Jaime and Aaron’s house one night and the kiddos played like crazy. I only have one blurry phone pic where the kids where jumping off the ottoman and onto the couch. They were proud and happy!IMG_20150725_214842903

We made another blueberry pie this week and one day Debbie told me Finn insisted on having it for his snack day after we made it. I really wasn’t surprised as he’s usually heading to bed when it’s cooling off.  Sure looks like he enjoyed it!

And here is a cute one of Debbie and Finn at the zoo.  He’s been having such a fun summer!photo(3)-2

DSC_0915Yep, we did a whole lot of that – relaxing! Our beach vacation began with a few days of rain, lots and lots of rain, which led to lots of time indoors enjoying a slow pace. Grandma and Grandpa read Finn plenty of books and built all kinds of things out of the super cool magnets. Griffin absolutely loved being around his cousins. He watched everything they did and tried to do the same. He loves to say “Roro” and he and Graham often enjoyed playing and dancing in the morning in their pajamas. Did I mention all that rain makes for good snacking and napping too?DSC_0838 DSC_0840 DSC_0836 DSC_0835 DSC_0831 DSC_0778 DSC_0782DSC_0797DSC_1003 DSC_1000 DSC_0928DSC_1007

Finn loved the ocean.  The sand and “wa wa” kept him busy the entire time. He never sat down. He enjoyed catching the waves and heading out into the deeper waters with daddy. Destroying sand castles was also quite a bit of fun. Even on the rainy days we were able to head to the beach in the evening for a quick trip.  DSC_0814 DSC_0815 DSC_0827DSC_0843 DSC_0950 DSC_0947 DSC_0844 DSC_0845 DSC_0846 DSC_0848 DSC_0850 DSC_0854 DSC_0857 DSC_0860 DSC_0862 DSC_0872 DSC_0877 DSC_0892 DSC_0896 DSC_0900 DSC_0902 DSC_0910 DSC_0934 DSC_0936 DSC_0940 DSC_0954 DSC_0955 DSC_0958 DSC_0964 DSC_0966 DSC_0967 DSC_0974 DSC_0981 DSC_0986 DSC_0994We did fit in a professional family photo session – though the only pic I have to share for now is prior to heading out when I was mobbed by the kiddos 🙂 And we had a family dinner out one evening at the Isles, where Kevin and I got engaged two years ago!IMG_0593DSC_0801 One rainy afternoon we headed for a bit of shopping followed by a trip to the Creamery for a sweet treat. A trick I learned is to get a cup of ice cream for Finn with a waffle cone “on the side”. Then I scoop a little ice cream onto the edge of the cone and give it to him to enjoy.  Makes for less of a mess and he loves to have the cone to hold!DSC_0783 DSC_0787 DSC_0790 DSC_0793 DSC_0795We had another fabulous family vacation in Ocean Isle and treasure the time we all were able to spend together <3. DSC_0924 DSC_0921 IMG_20140809_181124256

And here are a few shots Amy forwarded to me from our week in OIB!000023640008 000023670018 000023670003 000023620010 000023620015 000023680005 000023660014 000023660015 000023660027

Thankfully Debbie house-sat and dog-sat for us while we were gone. Unfortunately, Cameron became a bit ill (not sure why) and had bowel issues for a few days. Fortunately our vet was able to squeeze her in and Brett and Jim were able to take her there – were are grateful for that! She’s been on some meds and is much better now, but unfortunately it was a rough couple of days for Debbie 🙁 She is quite a trooper!!

Renovation update:  no pics this week! While I don’t have any new pictures to post we’ve made headway on picking out some details for items including the faucets. Kevin has done a lot of back and forth with the counter top installer so that will move forward quickly.  Brett completed the flooring in the dining room and front foyer. Only part of the office and the landing of the back stairs remain! And Jim continues to work on all kinds of details with the electrical and other miscellaneous items that pop up!

DSC_0759We have arrived on vacation in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina!

Finn did pretty well in the car on the way down. He had a few cry fits and only slept 45 minutes each day (and the first day we had over 8 1/2 hours of driving) but overall he was a happy camper. He was certainly happy when we arrived at the house and we gave him free reign in the car.  He helped daddy steer and turned up the radio, of course. IMG_20140802_132348574 IMG_20140802_151223547_HDR IMG_20140802_151408453

We stopped at Sharkey’s on Ocean Isle when we first arrived – it has become our tradition. We enjoyed sweet potato fries (with cinnamon sugar butter, yum!) and pizza before we carried on to our house. 20140802_135551Finn absolutely loves the sand and water. The first evening we arrived we headed to the beach toward dusk and we had him in his street clothes – but he didn’t mind getting soaked! The weather has been less than ideal since we’ve arrived and actually for good portions of our drive.  We have been having crazy amounts of rain and thunderstorms which is great napping weather, however, Finn would far rather play with his cousins than sleep! He’s struggled with taking naps and going to bed at night – just screaming and crying which is completely atypical.  He sleeps much better once he knows everyone else (as in his cousins) have gone to bed.  Otherwise, he doesn’t want any part of it.  We’ve read a lot of books and Grandpa has helped Graham and Roro make some cool magnetic objects, featured below is the helicopter.  Finn likes building, but probably enjoys destroying everything even more! We were able to make a brief trip to the beach on Sunday in between rain showers. The kids all fit in a nice large wagon for the ride to the beach. IMG_20140802_180919714

DSC_0667 DSC_0665 DSC_0675 DSC_0677 DSC_0680 DSC_0685 DSC_0688 DSC_0689 DSC_0691 DSC_0694 DSC_0695 DSC_0700 DSC_0701 DSC_0708 DSC_0711 DSC_0713 DSC_0719 DSC_0720 DSC_0722 DSC_0723 DSC_0726 DSC_0728 DSC_0729 DSC_0735 DSC_0736 DSC_0738 DSC_0740 DSC_0742 DSC_0745 DSC_0746 DSC_0747 DSC_0751 DSC_0754 DSC_0756 DSC_0757 DSC_0762 DSC_0764 DSC_0769 DSC_0770 DSC_0772I was out of town for a work conference from Sunday through Wednesday at midnight. That was my first time being away from both Finn and Kevin, believe it or not, and I survived as did they. And quite well actually. They even had a fun dinner out with the Howard’s and Ackerman’s and all the kiddos 🙂  I returned home to our beautiful kitchen! The cabinet installation began while I was gone and is looking fabulous. Everything is really taking shape and the island is in place so we now have a good perspective on the final layout. There are still a few changes to make and cabinets to install but below you can see what everything is looking like. We are excited! The flooring is near completion too, with part of the office, dining room, and front foyer that remain. DSC_0659 DSC_0656 DSC_0661 DSC_0658 DSC_0657 DSC_0649 DSC_0648Until next week!
